Completely agree! I'm disabled from a stroke 9 years ago and I am stuck home most of the time, particularly during these frigid Midwest winters. The past 2 weeks have brought many days of below zero temperatures and 15 inches of snow. I have 3 small dogs that bring me a great deal of companionship but when I do go out (usually for a doctor's appt) I will often stop in a store or have my friend who drives me to go to lunch. One way yo save in addition to happy hour, is to have lunch instead of dinner and to take advantage of senior menus and senior discounts.

Our local Winn Dixie had pork loin on sale this past weekend for 1.99 pound. I bought 4...which I turned into 3 -5 pack boneless pork chops, 1 pack of frozen pork stew meat and pressure canned 12 pints of pork stew meat. I spent 32.00

In the last week with icy and arctic conditions in the PNW I lost power for over 31 hrs. Many people fell on ice and went to the ER. Roads were a mess. We lost many big trees. Lots of strong winds too. Stay home if you have ice. Please. So glad now it is only raining here. The rain makes the ice go away.
Oh, LOVE the statement, “Happiness comes from within.” YES!!! Don’t listen to the world saying it comes from something we purchase. Great recipe, YUM! Fantastic advice as to how to avoid overspending. Thank you so much for guiding us along our frugal journey ❤️❤️❤️ Our budget is impulsive buys. This low/no spend month has been eye opening! Love this challenge!
I took my mom to Big Lots ( discount store chain in USA) because she wanted a Valentines table runner( no luck). They had 75% off Christmas decor and they handed out 20% percent off total purchase including clearance items. I bought a wreath ($4.00) and a mitten shaped spoon rest ($2.00) and a non holiday art canvas ($7.00) for my guest bedroom. Not really a budget buster, but my no spend became a low spend January. On the plus side I’ve spent only $30 in groceries for fresh produce and eggs and I’m all done with groceries for the month. I’ve been unearthing some interesting things from my freezer I didn’t remember, like a large bag of frozen skinless chicken breasts.
I’m trying to use up freezer food. I found a 4 pound pork butt from 2/5/2020, yes 2020. No freezer burn. I put it in the crockpot frozen, dumped a can of cream of mushroom soup and Lipton’s onion dry soup mix, and cooked until fork tender. Family said best pork ever. We ate off it for 4 dinner meal and two lunches.
Great video! A budget Buster can be taking your husband to the store with you. Sometimes, mine likes to add extra things. Sometimes, I say no, but I have a hard time doing so. He doesn't ask for much.
I love this channel❤ Those wings looked delicious. Yarn and craft supplies could be budget busters for me if I didn't shop clearance deals and organize so I know what I already have on hand. One of my nieces messaged me to say how much she wears a scarf I made her. Another niece let me know she received a poncho I made her and how pretty it was. They made my day! I am spending time making items from supplies I already had. It brings me such joy.
Emmy I was watching a UA-camr a budget UA-camr and they estimate that if you spend $27 a day that can add up to almost $10,000 a year and that is something to really think about (at least I do). I really appreciate you and Paul and the advice you share .❤ Kathy from Utah.
Tbh I don’t have that amount of money, as that’s more then 175 a week or 300 every 2 weeks. My total is £300 every 2 weeks so if I spent that every day I would have nothing at all. That’s a lot to think about.
Emmy, I had fun this week getting out my mom's old apron which I never wear, thanks to your advice. She's long passed. Then I made your Christmas morning casserole and cinnamon roll sausage wraps. Great. Also, when I feel like shopping just because, I go to the library and "shop" there. That scratches my itch for something new.
I broke my No Spend January vow today when I purchased the last pair of long underwear bottoms the store had in my size! I only had two pairs and this long deep cold spell we had made me realize how important that article of clothing was to my well being. I wore them 24-7 for the last two weeks!! And ended up having to wash one pair while wearing the other! 😊
My personal advice is. Don't go to Disney World after finding out you are a first time gma (Lolli). It doesn't help that your travel buddy is just as excited😂. I budgetted more because I knew I might be in trouble... I was😊 °O°
My budget buster is books…mainly cookbooks from the thrift store. I have now acquired a collection from the 1800’s to the present day. I think they tell a story of cultures and economic times. The WW II cookbooks with their “rations” ingredients are so interesting to me. The lady at the thrift store who is responsible for the books see’s me come in and starts showing me the newest cookbooks that have come in. 😂 So I have a “ cookbook dealer” now😂 at the thrift store!! And my frugal mind says …ohhh that’s not bad bc they are priced cheap… but my budget says…but you did not plan for those books.
My budget buster is, believe it or not, office supplies! I create greeting cards, bookmarks and refrigerator magnets. I use lots of printer ink, blank card stock, and lamination pouches.
the budget buster I need to keep an eye on is crafting supplies. I know how easy it is for me to go overboard and justify it by saying I will use it to make gifts, etc. Although that is true, I simplu do not need any more so I challenge myself to use what I have.
I’ve realised this I’m gonna try a no spend February on crafting items of any kind and see if I can do it. I have enough to open a shop easily lol but there’s always something missing when I have a project that I want/need to do. Or I can’t find something so I buy it to finish the project but then have more then I need when I find the original. Lol so I’m gonna try. If I can’t finish a project I’m gonna make a list of what I need or add stuff to Amazon basket and wait till march to buy. See what happens
I stay away from crafting stores and quilting stores. Try to use my stash. Also would always pick up odds and ends from the free table at the quilting guild. Sometimes people would bring in yarn. Yippee.
Paul, sorry my Chiefs beat your Bills. Think I'll make these wings though for our game against the Ravens on Sunday! My budget buster this month was a new microwave, the old one quit. However, I keep $12000 - $15000 in an emergency fund just for these items so had to dip into that. Hopefully nothing else will wear out for a while so I can replace the $400 I had to use. We do budget for entertainment every month ($100) and I am way ahead on the grocery budget this month by using mostly freezer and pantry items so I possibly might be able to replace the money by the end of the month.
You are such a very sweet couple.❤❤❤ My budget buster is to shop used. So many wonderful bargains. Slaying no spend January abd will continue thru Febuary. Vacation in March abd right back on low spend there after. Yay!😊😊😊
I’m afraid I overspend when my daughter and 18-month-old granddaughter come to visit. I don’t see them that often, and the joyful anticipation of their visits seems to bust my budget every time.
My grandparents never once spent tons of money taking us grandkids out to eat (or really out to do anything!) They always made special cut up fruit salad (with orange juice in it! Fancy!) for breakfast when we visited, and we would go hiking or walking at the nearby lakes and parks. Lunch was always sandwiches, and then for fun we would play outside or play with the old old toys they still had from when my parents were kids. Such great memories! And always frugal!
Maybe put a little savings aside each month so when they do come to visit you have a cash jar you can dip into for extras. I'm having to do the same and start savings for different categories so I'm ready when things come up.
Rachel, that is so understandable! Possibly have a list of fun free activities to do before they arrive. Stock up on low cost treats they will enjoy. Put aside some extra money beforehand and maybe do one small splurge. Let your creativity shine!
I think staying OUT of stores when there is no purpose to buy, can be a great frugal tip. Sometimes we are tempted by the sales and stores like to give coupons or freebies to get you to shop…..Ha ha. Bath and Body Works seems to “lure us”in with free stuff. Lol
@@FrugalMoneySaverdon’t we all but I just got an email coupon for a free item up to $26 with any purchase!! Nice but that purchase can definitely be unnecessary. Lol
My budget buster is shopping with daughters that live close by! I will go for something that I really need, but if with one of them, I tend to overspend. I try not to do it often, and mainly shop with them for the companionship.
Two things just this month!! One is not stopping to think it is something I already have. I needed paper plates because we had a lot of company over for New Year’s and immediately thought I needed to buy some when actually I had a lot left from clearance Thanksgiving so nobody even cared that we were using Thanksgiving plates well after Thanksgiving but I save money, the second thing was I need a new mop what instead of buying one? I just used an old washcloth fastened with hair ties with my swiffer and then I can just toss that washcloth into the laundry which to me that seems more sanitary because the mop does not get cleaned as well.
I love Tuesdays and Fridays for one reason!, it’s so fun to watch your new videos! as soon as I watched the video I went and pulled some chicken legs out of the freezer. Looking forward to trying the recipe tomorrow night.
As always ! Great ideas ! When my grand daughter comes to stay , she is my budget buster , she wants fast food or to go shopping lol , I love having her !!
Also…Budget Buster is Texas Roadhouse, I can’t cook a good steak dinner meal for the life of me so we do go out, maybe once a month but I’d rather keep it in house if I knew what to do correctly. It always turns gray on me. 😅
Always saved my wing tips for broth. I know some people use chicken feet for broth. They claim the taste is outstanding. I have to try it. I know an old hen makes the tastiest broth.
Treats, treats, treats .....They are just little somethings but quickly lose thier meaning as a treat when they start to add up. If there is money to budget a treat, acknowledge that you're going to treat yourself, limit the amount spent by writing it into the budget, decide what, and then enjoy yourself.
Registered nurse here. Unmanaged diabetes is one of the biggest money pits I've ever seen. Specialists, never ending rounds of doctors appointments, hospitalization, dialysis costs a tremendous amount of money. It hurts the patient, the family, the budget and the healthcare system. Everyone loses.
Hi Emmy and Paul! I live in the province of Ontario, up in Canada! Same kind of winter as you guys. I am so jealous of all of your beautiful birds. How do you keep the squirrels away? They eat everything …
Great video Emmy! I'm planning on making some lemon pepper wings for Superbowl and glad Paul showed us the easy way to cut the Wing sections. I didn't even catch the melted butter in your recipe, I think we just get used to doing that since alot of recipes call for melted butter! Keep the great videos coming, I learn so much from you!
Dear Emmy, Thank you so much for commenting on my peer pressure question from last week. You are completely right, just saying a firm but kind "no" should be enough. I am afraid that is my biggest budget buster, sometimes because I want to be included, and other times because I feel bad saying no, especially because you build relationships throughout time. It took me years to stop going to my hair salon because I felt bad saying that I would not be going back. When I finally did it (four years ago), I felt a huge relief in my mind and my budget. I guess I need to practice saying "no" more often, lol. Thanks again Emmy! Those wings look fantastic!
We used to live a block from Dollarama and boy did we end up spending too much! I'm glad we're much further from stores now as it makes me plan my trips better and has saved money.
Live below my means. Yeah, right. My money goes to housing, utilities, medications, and basic household expenses. My food budget is dictated by my SNAP benefits and our local food pantry. I'm on SSDI and very small monthly retirement from divorce. COLA increase this year 3.2%, rent increases 10% each year. I've used the assistance that is available. On choice housing wait list for 2 years.
Our local library has a book sale April and August. $1.00 hardback and 50c paperback. On the last day, you can take a box of books for $1.00. These books are good for when you cant get to the library. Also during covid, our library was closed. I always have reading material just in case.
Eating out would bust the budget. Over the last two years, I find it's just not worth it. Food is very expensive, quality isn't great, and service tends to be poor. We can make a much tastier, and budget-friendly, special meal at home! I've improved my cooking and grow and use many fresh herbs, spices, and vegetables. Good stuff!
Wow! I never thought of saving and using the wing tips for soup! Silly me; this is another meal! Thank you Emme and Paul. This is a great channel. Ps your wings look terrific!
My friend and I love to spend the day going to thrift stores. But it has taken some practice to learn to not buy things just because they are cheap. I try to go now with things to donate and I list of things I can really use. Actually the hunt for the deal on something you need is all the better when you find it.
Love all your birds! I did not notice a squirrel baffle yet you have tons of trees - how are u preventing the pesky hungry squirrels from raiding your feeder?
Aunt Emmy and Uncle Paul, those chicken wings look mouthwatering, and that is such a good idea for this weekend! I have chicken wings in the freezer, and I know my football-loving 17-year-old will be thrilled with them. As for budget busters - you've said it time and again: not having a meal plan and not having a well-stocked pantry. This low-spend month taught me how well-stocked we are in certain categories of food and how we can adapt recipes if we don't have a specific ingredient. Tonight, I'm making breakfast for dinner and want to make sausage gravy, but we're out of milk. We have heavy cream that needs to be used up so I'll use some of that and thin it out with broth. I'm sure the gravy will be delicious. It's been so fun to come up with new dinner ideas and stretch myself creatively.
Budget buster for me: home decor. My home is already "decorated". I see nice things in the store that look appealing to me but I have enough. Except for things that need to be replaced like sheets etc. Fancy pillows NO.😂
My husband’s car is a budget buster. It’s a 2005 Civic nearing 400,000 miles! He needs it to run 22 more months until he retires but it needs constant attention. One example is it leaks a small amount of oil the fix for which is more money compared to just topping off the oil every month. We do have a fund specifically for this car’s repairs but it would be nice to put that money somewhere else. A replacement for the Civic would be substantially more and even then a replacement would have issues as well. As my husband says that faithful Civic is a devil we know. I refer to her as “the other woman” since it takes some of his time and some of our money. 😂. PS: we are planning a small frugal celebration when the odometer turns over to 400,000.
My no spend Jan was going pretty good, only messed up 3 times. But we had a snow storm last Monday, which we don't normally get. I did pretty good last week and ate what I had on hand seeing as I couldn't get out. With the freezing weather last Friday a lot of us lost water and trying to make due. I did what I could by collecting snow to melt for water, but needed to think about this week and possibly next week. I ended buying things for sandwiches and things to drink. I'm hoping to made Feb a no spend to make up for it.
Also, maybe consider declining if the invite is from people you do see regularly. That way you can say yes to last minute invites from the folks in your life you enjoy but don't get to see too often.
I need to stay out of the stores unless shopping for more groceries is needed. It stops the impulse buying. Great video and recipe. Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
Burds livep leftover pasta. Dint throw out. I would leave in an aluminum pan near the bird feeder. It eas fun watching them eat it, edpecially the spagetti, fettuccine, types. It looked like they were eating worms. Always make sure you have water in the bird bath. Sometimes it freezes.
On line shopping for planner and craft items get me every time. I do well the poof! Off the rails I go. However, it usually just means I buy different groceries for the week. Balances by the end of the month. Thanks for the wings recipe!
Trying not to go out of the house in a rush, i.find that if i am rushing i forget things to bring along and then end up buying snacks or a charging cable for the car or an envelope to post, so it can get very costly quiet easy.
I find keeping a snack bag in the car for the just in case is a great resource. If it’s summer and hot, still have a snack bag packed and it’s ready to grab with some drinks and ice packs
My two sisters love to eat out lunch or dinner. I prefer my own cooking and have a hard time paying $15-$20 for a meal that would cost me $3 at home. So I’ll go out once or twice a month for lunch but decline all those other times. I make sure I’ve got a coupon for my meal or really enjoy the Blue Plate special. I always bring half of my lunch home so that makes me feel better about spending that money. I prefer to save my money for airfare to visit my kids and grandkids.
Often I think about the non nutritive things I buy like tea and coffee and crystal light type sugar free flavorings as my husband is diabetic. We don’t buy alcohol or cola type beverages and I know coffee and tea have benefits but still! Carole
I am very guilty of spending when I feel upset about something. It makes me feel better for a very short amount of time. I think I need a hobby to do at home instead but I am not crafty - any suggestions please?
You could do like I did...learn to draw on UA-cam lol. Put together a puzzle. Maybe, start journaling your feelings. Learn to start a small herb garden...
Love your landscaping and the birds around even in the winter! my budget-buster is meal delivery when I don't have a coupon for it...I rarely do meal delivery anyway, but occasionally I'll order a small or medium pizza when it's 50 percent off...for no-spend January and low-spend February, I won't be doing it at all...
Budget buster ? When you and your spouse are not on the same page about the level of frugality wanted, or worse, necessary! This can be extended to older children in the household. Have a blessed day ✝
We are feeding the birds here in the uk The sparrows and the robins and the blue tits, not sure what’s there atm but these are some that come to the garden and have seen them. Put out a new feeder this week with fat balls in it, suet and seed mixed together into balls incase you don’t know As I’m finding they are really throwing the seed about atm and they not eating but the dogs are which I don’t want. So got 50balls for 4.99 and using them. Instead of seed for a bit.
Do you allow any money in the budget for stocking up on food staples? I cook almost every meal from scratch, but we are running low on flour, brown sugar, heavy cream, coffee, and rice. I am participating in no spend/low spend January so I have curbed my impulse spending on stuff. Do I run out or bite the bullet and buy staples? Wait until February? Thoughts? Thank you
We buy staples when they are on sale in large quantities...flour, sugar, coffee, tea etc. This way we don't have to pay full price for them very often. We use loss leaders to stock up as well.
@@FrugalMoneySaver So do you set aside a certain budget specifically for that? I ended up going to Costco to return a couple things and also returned a couple Amazon items. With these "credits", I bought some of the needed items and decided to wait on others. I also realized I already had some packages of rice in a storage container, but because it wasn't in my working pantry, I forgot about it. Shopping at home first ;)
To me, its simply unnecessary spending. A person can easily go thru a couple hundred dollars a week. Fast food, buying clothes you don't need, I color my own hair, if I had it done, it would be at least 100 dollars each time. I do my own nails and pedicures. That's just a few to name.
I like to do "little token" gifts or cards for birthdays or holidays for my neighbors since most are older.... An added expense but I can afford it...and it's a frugal/fun thing...i hope it brings a smile when they find the gift.... I also still send birthday, holiday, Christmas, get well, thinking of you, sympathy cards....some say stamps and cards are an expense but I think it says"you are not forgotten".....
That is why every frugal journey is so different. That meal would have ruined my pan with all the burnt sugar. My time is money too. That small piece of foil saved a much more expensive baking pan and a heck of a lot of scrubbing lol .

I freeze my leftovers and add them as a side to some compatible meal later on in the month.
Yes, Paul and I struggle with that too!
And the older you get the harder it is to stand and cook. I like to make extra either to freeze or so I don't have to stand and cook all the time.
Something I try to avoid is not having my errands organized. I don't want to run around several times a week when I could do it all in one outing, and save gas. Love your content.

A budget Buster can be taking your husband to the store with you.
Sometimes, mine likes to add extra things.
Sometimes, I say no, but I have a hard time doing so.
He doesn't ask for much.
I have the same problem. Especially at Costco.
If he doesn't ask for much then I can totally understand you wanting to bless him.
That’s where I do spend my money on crafting stuff. And I do lots of different categories lol.
Same here! I have to walk past yarn shops. 😅
Gail, I bet those pieces are so lovely!!
Our pantry purge is taking a really long time. There was definitely no need to be concerned about us potentially running out of food.
Me either. I’m almost embarrassed how much food I have in the freezer and pantry.
I am feeling the same way. I have made a small dent in both the freezer & pantry stock this month…for some reason, I thought it would go faster!
I have discovered the same thing! I have enough food to go well into February!!
LOVE this comment so much! Thank you! Love the idea of shopping the library!
Yes, the library is a great place to shop.
One of my local libraries has monthly movie nights with free soda and popcorn. A nice free evening out.
Yes! The library is my favorite no spend shopping stop!
I wouldn’t call that breaking no spend, it sounds pretty essentional! 😮😊
Consider that a necessity. I'd say you're still rocking "no buy" January.
Worth breaking it for such an essential! It's not really a luxury item - It's a need. Hop back on your plan & keep going 💜
A good in"vest"ment I would say! You will be all set up and ready for next year too.
Janet, that would be a necessary spend and a smart one in my book!
My personal advice is. Don't go to Disney World after finding out you are a first time gma (Lolli). It doesn't help that your travel buddy is just as excited😂. I budgetted more because I knew I might be in trouble... I was😊 °O°
Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of your grandchild. Being a grandparent is the BEST!!
Grandparents ❤ to spoil the grandkids !!!
Melissa!! Congratulations! How wonderful!!
I totally understand lol!
The cook books are not a waste of money.
My budget busters are my two adult Sons, living in my basement. True story
My budget buster is, believe it or not, office supplies! I create greeting cards, bookmarks and refrigerator magnets. I use lots of printer ink, blank card stock, and lamination pouches.
They do sound like lovely art projects though!
the budget buster I need to keep an eye on is crafting supplies. I know how easy it is for me to go overboard and justify it by saying I will use it to make gifts, etc. Although that is true, I simplu do not need any more so I challenge myself to use what I have.
I’ve realised this
I’m gonna try a no spend February on crafting items of any kind and see if I can do it.
That is a great way to challenge yourself!
Chiefs are our 2nd favorite team so we are all I for the Chiefs now!!
We are going to need a lot of people cheering us on in order to beat the Ravens but if anyone can do the impossible, it is our Chiefs!
You are such a very sweet couple.❤❤❤ My budget buster is to shop used. So many wonderful bargains. Slaying no spend January abd will continue thru Febuary. Vacation in March abd right back on low spend there after. Yay!😊😊😊
YAY! Wonderful!
I love, love, love the baby birdies!! I'm so happy to hear that you are taking care of them.
We always have! Part of our pet budget LOL!
Now I know where all the cardinals went this winter... I live in the near the Ozarks & they seem to have gone. Thanks for videoing them 💕
LOL! They are here!
Memories made and time spent with family is priceless. Enjoy and I’m sure you are mindful of your expenses…..😊
Maybe put a little savings aside each month so when they do come to visit you have a cash jar you can dip into for extras. I'm having to do the same and start savings for different categories so I'm ready when things come up.
@@saraojala6283
This is a great idea, thank you!
Lol
Love me some Bath and Body Works LOL!
@@FrugalMoneySaverdon’t we all but I just got an email coupon for a free item up to $26 with any purchase!! Nice but that purchase can definitely be unnecessary. Lol
Did not even go to the store. lol. $$ saved
My budget buster is shopping with daughters that live close by! I will go for something that I really need, but if with one of them, I tend to overspend. I try not to do it often, and mainly shop with them for the companionship.
Yes, I used to love to shop with my mom!
I love that extra dash of garlic powder in the marinade. We are kindred spirits! 😂
LOL, couldn't help myself!
Brilliant! Good for you!
I love Tuesdays and Fridays for one reason!, it’s so fun to watch your new videos! as soon as I watched the video I went and pulled some chicken legs out of the freezer. Looking forward to trying the recipe tomorrow night.
Oh how wonderful! Thank you!
As always ! Great ideas ! When my grand daughter comes to stay , she is my budget buster , she wants fast food or to go shopping lol , I love having her !!
Why not write a cookbook with her? Then she will have a book of meals she knows how to make.
@@happycook6737 What a great Idea !
Alice, I can understand! Family is always such a joy to have!
I saw Emmys pretty face and was like “dude it’s Friday already?!” Hahaha, love your channel.
Hope everyone is staying warm wherever you are ❄️ 💨 ⛄️
Also…Budget Buster is Texas Roadhouse, I can’t cook a good steak dinner meal for the life of me so we do go out, maybe once a month but I’d rather keep it in house if I knew what to do correctly. It always turns gray on me. 😅
LOL! so kind, thank you!
Paul would agree with you about a steak dinner LOL...That is our vacation treat for sure!
My kids and I make suet cakes for the birds. It's a fun activity.
So wonderful!
Oh love the wing tip idea what a great way to make broth. No waste great.
Yes, we are always looking not to waste!
Always saved my wing tips for broth. I know some people use chicken feet for broth. They claim the taste is outstanding. I have to try it. I know an old hen makes the tastiest broth.
Not be prepared is my biggest budget buster . I need to make I have things I need when I’m tired! Out and about or working too much .
Yes, I think we all got through that!
Treats, treats, treats .....They are just little somethings but quickly lose thier meaning as a treat when they start to add up. If there is money to budget a treat, acknowledge that you're going to treat yourself, limit the amount spent by writing it into the budget, decide what, and then enjoy yourself.
That’s very clever idea then it doesn’t matter what the treat is but once spent it’s done . Good idea 👍
Yes! Great idea!!
Great tips. I can overspend at HEB. It all looks so good. I need to be more disciplined. Love y’all’s videos. From central Texas.
You got this!
Much easier to cut wings apart is to use kitchen shears.
Thanks for sharing
Hi Emmy and Paul! I live in the province of Ontario, up in Canada! Same kind of winter as you guys. I am so jealous of all of your beautiful birds. How do you keep the squirrels away? They eat everything …
That is a squirrel proof feeder. When the squirrel land on the bar the feeder closes and they can't get seed.
I enjoyed seeing your birds. We have the same birds in northern Wisconsin. Thank you for being an encourager.
You are so welcome, Carolyn!
Mmmm 😋 yummy. We will all be right on over! 😂
Thanks so much, Denise for watching and sharing!
Dear Emmy,
Thank you so much for commenting on my peer pressure question from last week.
So glad it was helpful! I understand the fear of missing out can be stressful! Maybe you can suggest something else to do that is a bit lower in cost.
Thanks for your video. We feed the birds, also, down in North Carolina. Enjoyed seeing the snow, as we have rain here for the next few days.
We could use some sun actually LOL!
My struggle is working next to the dollar tree!!!! 😮 I am weakest with the holiday craft supplies and decor!
We used to live a block from Dollarama and boy did we end up spending too much! I'm glad we're much further from stores now as it makes me plan my trips better and has saved money.
Yes, a lot of people mention the $ Tree as an issue! Us too lol!
Our thrift store in Florida had a whole room of Christmas decorations all year long. Great place to get decorations cheap.
Great idea!
Thanks for sharing!
IMHO, a waste of money (budget buster) for our home is paying anybody to do something we can still do ourselves. Mrs. D.
Thanks for sharing!
Good stuff!
I couldn't agree more!
I love the birds. Such beautiful colors against the snow background. Stay warm. Love your videos.
Thank you! You too!
I loved seeing the beautiful birds that visit your backyard! I love to watch the birds.
Thanks so much!
Thank God Emmy, you look so much better❤️
Better? You mean from when we were sick last month?
Wow! I never thought of saving and using the wing tips for soup! Silly me; this is another meal! Thank you Emme and Paul. This is a great channel.
Ps your wings look terrific!
Thanks so much! Glad it was helpful!
I have two things that are my budget busters. Buying gallons of tea, and buying takeout when I am tired. 🙄
I think we all have grabbed take out when tired.
My friend and I love to spend the day going to thrift stores. But it has taken some practice to learn to not buy things just because they are cheap. I try to go now with things to donate and I list of things I can really use. Actually the hunt for the deal on something you need is all the better when you find it.
We couldn't agree more! The thrill of the search!
Love all your birds! I did not notice a squirrel baffle yet you have tons of trees - how are u preventing the pesky hungry squirrels from raiding your feeder?
It's a squirrel proof feeder. When the weight of the squirrel lands on the bar the door of the feeder closes and they can't get seeds.
Aaahhh- thank you. I know the New York squirrels had to be as greedy as the Ohio ones lol.
Sounds good 🤗. Low spend February ❤️
We're there!
Yes, that's the way to do it. Perfect substitutions!
Yum the wings looks delicious thanks for your tips ❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Budget buster for me: home decor. My home is already "decorated". I see nice things in the store that look appealing to me but I have enough. Except for things that need to be replaced like sheets etc. Fancy pillows NO.😂
I now cover my existing throw pillows with new pillow "covers" much cheaper.
@@FrugalMoneySaver that's definitely the way to go.
400,000!! WOW! What an amazing car! We think that too...a new car would cost much more!
Oh goodness! Food and fresh drinking water is a necessity! No worries there! Hope your safe and warm!
Also, maybe consider declining if the invite is from people you do see regularly. That way you can say yes to last minute invites from the folks in your life you enjoy but don't get to see too often.
Great point, Joan!
Instead of meeting out, ask people over for coffee and cake one evening. Could play cards, watch a movie, etc.
Home-made potato salad who be delicious with that yummy chicken!
Absolutely!
Thanks Emmy and Paul! 😁
Thank you too!
Thank you!
We made it to the 17th. I have been trading out my plastic containers for glass and we had to replace our vacuum.
All necessary spends!
I need to stay out of the stores unless shopping for more groceries is needed. It stops the impulse buying.
Great video and recipe.
Love 💕 and Hugs. ❤❤❤
Yes! Thank you! Hugs right back!
Have not spent a single cent this month. My groceries were trimmed to $200 ever 2 weeks
Wonderful!
I do splurge on cooking bags for my crockpot. EASY CLEAN UP❤
Smart!
Yes, our bird bath is heated so no worry of it freezing.
On line shopping for planner and craft items get me every time. I do well the poof! Off the rails I go. However, it usually just means I buy different groceries for the week. Balances by the end of the month. Thanks for the wings recipe!
Yes, I love planner accessories!
Great video- love the longer Tuesday video
Thanks, Reba!
Trying not to go out of the house in a rush, i.find that if i am rushing i forget things to bring along and then end up buying snacks or a charging cable for the car or an envelope to post, so it can get very costly quiet easy.
That is a great point! Thank you!
I find keeping a snack bag in the car for the just in case is a great resource. If it’s summer and hot, still have a snack bag packed and it’s ready to grab with some drinks and ice packs
@@retiredsockmonkey7257 great tip definitely need to get a little storage set up for snacks in the car.
Yes, everyone's priorities are their own! Love that you found a way to spend time and save money!
Often I think about the non nutritive things I buy like tea and coffee and crystal light type sugar free flavorings as my husband is diabetic. We don’t buy alcohol or cola type beverages and I know coffee and tea have benefits but still! Carole
Carole, we all have those extras lol. I think they help us stay frugal!
Love the wings.
And may God continue to bless you too 🙏
Thank you!
nice video...really enjoyed the good counsel and the recipe
Thank you so much 🙂
Those wings looked delicious!
Thank you!
Thanks Emmy
I am very guilty of spending when I feel upset about something. It makes me feel better for a very short amount of time. I think I need a hobby to do at home instead but I am not crafty - any suggestions please?
You can print free line drawings from the Internet to colour in.
You could do like I did...learn to draw on UA-cam lol. Put together a puzzle. Maybe, start journaling your feelings. Learn to start a small herb garden...
Looks delicious 😊❤️
Thank you 😋
Love your landscaping and the birds around even in the winter! my budget-buster is meal delivery when I don't have a coupon for it...I rarely do meal delivery anyway, but occasionally I'll order a small or medium pizza when it's 50 percent off...for no-spend January and low-spend February, I won't be doing it at all...
Maybe you could keep a frozen pizza in your freezer for those days?
That's awesome that Paul is from Buffalo! I' live in western New York just south of buffalo
He's actually from North Tonawanda!
Great advice. Hope you don't eat those delicious wings in sight if your bird feeders. Might make them a little nervous.🤓
BHAHAHA!! Now, that's funny!
I bought new reclining chair for my house I shopped around and I found one for $322.00 which included delivery. I thought it was deal😊
That's great!
Maybe making some Super Bowl wings! 🪽
Stopping for a flavored latte on the way to work. :)
No biggie at all, LOL!
For me going to dollar tree and wandering in Walmart
Yes, those stores are easy spends!
Budget buster ? When you and your spouse are not on the same page about the level of frugality wanted, or worse, necessary! This can be extended to older children in the household. Have a blessed day ✝
Yes, that can be.
We are feeding the birds here in the uk
The sparrows and the robins and the blue tits, not sure what’s there atm but these are some that come to the garden and have seen them.
Put out a new feeder this week with fat balls in it, suet and seed mixed together into balls incase you don’t know
As I’m finding they are really throwing the seed about atm and they not eating but the dogs are which I don’t want. So got 50balls for 4.99 and using them. Instead of seed for a bit.
So wonderful to take care of the birds!
So true! Everyone's unnecessary spending is so different though!
@@FrugalMoneySaver yes it is. Everyone has to decide for themselves what to spend their money on
Buying remorse 😂😂😂
Oh no lol!
IMo the foil is an unnecessary cost. I let the pan soak for a while to make cleaning easy.
That is why every frugal journey is so different. That meal would have ruined my pan with all the burnt sugar. My time is money too. That small piece of foil saved a much more expensive baking pan and a heck of a lot of scrubbing lol .
