Just come back from Zanzibar me and my wife. What a place to visit. We went on a safari, snorkeling near Mnemba Island and we visit the rock restaurant. We had good time there, my advice to anyone who wants to visit there, rent a car it makes easy for you to visit other beaches around the island etc.
I wish the buyers and sellers would have taken a deep breath and wait for a little thought. These islands went through revolution 58 years ago. The government then and now are the same people who took our property. We couldn't get back our property only now to be leased to foreign investors. All the land and little islands belonged to indegenous of this land. Now, the tourism ministry is trying to sell the houses confiscated during the revolution. These were our homes. Why sell them instead of giving back our properties. Stone town belonged to us and now investors are brought in and, they are changin our properties into hotels etc etc. What arethey doing?. We are everywhere scattered along the coastal line of east africa. Poor people who once owned and lived in Zanzibar. Anyon notices us?. No. We are the silent displaced peoples who own the history of our lands. Thanks for this.
As long as they're only leasing and not selling, I'm kinda ok with it but still, too many foreign investors aren't good. They come, make tons of money even if many things are being destroyed on the way and then, eventually they'll leave once they exceed their return on investment.

The issue with these type of development projects, in Africa is that the local populations do not usually benefit. Certain individuals within the corridors of power, benefit, and there is minimal trickle down to better the lives of the local indigenous population.
But before selling or leasing them out, it could be wise for the government to conduct Oil and Natural Gas exploration because the islands might be loaded with tons of them

Hi The Africa News Channel We do PR for ZIPA and would like to thank you for the video. I have read most of the comments and watched this video several times, Yes you do mention the islands are for lease, but the heading needs to say “leasing” rather than selling, and where you have the big “for sale” tag that pops up at the beginning of the video, it needs to be for lease rather please, this needs to be factually correct. ZIPA have asked us if you would please make these amendments to the video.
Hi, thanks for watching and also the feedback. We'll adjust the title as requested. We appreciate your support, as we try to highlight the positives and developments in Africa.
Great that you’ve come up for clarification, Natascha Conradie. ZIPA is doing a great work. Let’s make Zanzibar the Monaco of Africa. I Am a Tanzanian currently living outside of Tanzania and have been to Zanzibar and taking tourists there. I can tell, Zanzibar is so beautiful and with the coming Zanzibar Domino Tower, that’s a hot spot touristic destination. Construction should start as soon as possible. And for the this channel, the footage they’ve taken for Abeid Karume International Airport is of the old one. The new modern Airport has been in place now, you should put the modern one. All in all, nice documentary. Add more of Kilwa, Bagamoyo and Tanga documentaries. Very beautiful coast line🇹🇿🇹🇿🇹🇿
