- Replacing the airbox and removing the dummy relais to bring the power up from 100 (72) to 130 hp (98kW) on my BMW K1200RS.
English isn't my first language but I should be understandable though :)

Good to see your video. This help me to know more about my bike. Cheers!
That yellow thing is the right one😊
I have the 130hp in America and it's a great bike.I really enjoy it when it's not really cold outside. Ride On and Stay Safe. Really enjoyed the video. I haven't dissembled mine yet I need to do a complete oil service. Great video of the bike dissembled. Ride on and stay safe.
You all probably dont give a damn but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Dakari Luca instablaster :)
@Juan Casen i really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Juan Casen it worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account!
@Dakari Luca you are welcome =)
Những ca sĩ khác cho mình cảm giác thư giãn khi nghe! Còn ĐP luôn cho mình bị cuốn theo tinh thần bài hát.
now all me need is an Airbox that doesn’t require removing half of the plastic and the fuel tank to change the air filter😃👍
Thank you for sharing I managed to repair my bike from your help.
I have two of these K12RS bikes. The absolute No 1. upgrade I have made: swap out the stock exhaust for a Remus exhaust. No 2: swap out the blinker pod's crap nipple/basket system with Neodymium magnets.
could you explain more about the blinkers? i dont understand
@@dsruddell sure check out this post or Google K1200rs pod magnets www.skene.org/K1200RS/pod_magnets/index.htm
@@BadenBadenSwitzerBaden interesting, they really don't fall off at all now?
@@Villani_AV depends on how you define 'fall'. if they get bumped hard enough they do come off, but they 'snap' right back on due to the power of magnets (or magic, who really knows). I have had one of them _pop_ off when hitting a nasty pothole _once_. I have done this on two K12's and it's better than stock---by far.

Great upgrade Joris. You have added more than 3 times the amount of horse power that my Monkey 🐵 has (9bhp). I have subscribed and look forward to seeing your new videos. Cheers Dean (Dix)
rb racing has intake upgrades and lots of other goodies for this bike that have been measured and tested and verified. they are all bespoke made to order parts.
those guys are a joke
Друг, ты разобрал много лишнего для смены аирбокса. Масло сливается через пробку, а не крышку масляного фильтра.
Friend, you sorted out a lot of excess to change the airbox. The oil is drained through the plug, not the oil filter cover.
He like to play with screws:)
Merci
Wait, my 2001 K1200LT, has the same airbox, identical, you are saying that if I remove the pipes inside, cut them off and then remove a relay , I will get 130bhp ? :D this should be interesting, I have a k1200RS same like yours as well , therefore I have the 130bhp, but I want them on my LT as well 😄
✌🏿😜 🏁🏍️ Je souscris 🏍️🏁✌🏿😜
very good English
don't you need any electronic update to get full power?
SO, WHO IS YOUR BARBER ?
Thank you for the good Video ;)
dumb question but why did you remove the fuel cap ?
Is there any proof via a dyno test that this really gives you an extra 30 horsepower? If this exists can somebody please post a link.
Sorry, I can't directly reply to your last comment.
I hope this is true but I don't see any other references to this on searches. I'm sure it breathes better but 30 HP just seems far fetched. Where did you get this number?
I have the same bike since new in 1998 taxicab (45k miles now) so this sounds like a great upgrade.
I got a nice improvement going to Iridium plugs and solid wires, much stronger midrange. Also put on a new steering stabilizer and it was like getting a new bike.
Cheers.
There are several sites but most of them aren't in English due to the fact that in the US only 130hp version were sold.
The BMW owners manual also gives both hp versions at the end with the technical stuff, my bike is an original German bike so I can always scan it and send it if you please.
If you search with the Kw's (72kw and 98kw) you'll find some Dutch and German sites where they explain this.
The only English site with only 2min of Googling was this one:
www.k-bikes.com/ubbthreads/printthread.php?Cat=&Board=K1200RS&main=18232&type=thread
I bought mine without steering damper and had been cut off 2 months ago so I am now in the process of replacing the bend Telelever arm in the front and the front forks, I found a used fork with steering damper so I'm more than curious how the ride will change with it.
The Kawasaki ZZR1100 had the carb tops restricting the power back in the 90's. You could buy zxr750 carb top replacements to boost power dramatically.
So I can see this modification producing more power.
Так от чего корпус фильтра установлен?
If you still check comments; the relay you removed, would that be some sort of software lock or…? TIA
Here's an earlier reply from him: [The bike was designed to have 130 hp but because of regulation in some countries and cheaper insurance they made down-tuned 100 hp editions.
@6.15 you can see the difference between the two air boxes, size of the tubing in width and length and together with the dummy relay the bike knows with which mapping it needs to run.
There is a significant difference above 6000 rpm and with the 100 hp the bike struggled to get over 210 km/h (gps measured) but now I easily got to 233 km/h. Need to go back to Germany to do some Autobahn so I can really test it out if the bike still wants to go to 250 km/h like the brochure says.]
Looks good. Do you know where I can get a manual? I have a 1997 BMW 1200RS, but all the websites I come accross don't go that far back (including BMW website) - I have been told that to reset the throttle control - some sites say reset by having ignition on (but not running) fully rotate throttle 2 times, others are saying 3 times. Is this something you can help me with? Thank you
I use a PDF download, for the K1200LT as most of the bike is the same.
Changing the airbox gives you 30 HP? Tough to believe. Have you done top speed tests?

Freuderick Frankenstein
In the contrary, I never knew they made a K1200RS with only 100hp. I never have heard of that until I just watched this video. They never sold the 100hp model here in the US. This bike was always a 130hp at the crank bike. I only tell you this so you know that the man making the video is probably correct. I assume the relay retarded the fuel and ignition timing and the air box restricted the air flow to match.
Joris Lefevre i know this is old video but my bike is a 100hp and runs 250km/h easy
Thank you for this video. Can you give me an address to buy the air box for 130ph. To Toifrederic and I have the same yellow K12rs checkered
I bought mine at Beerens motors in Holland, they had several air boxes and they let me into their warehouse to see which one I wanted, at around the @5.00 min marker I let you see the outside difference, beware of that difference and then you're set with replacing the air boxes and taking out the fuse.
But most motorcycle scrappers have websites nowadays so you can probably find them everywhere if you search for it.
www.beerensmotoren.nl
or this other one
www.motorparts-online.com/nl/bmw/k-1200-rs/1997-2000/luchtfilterhuis
These bikes are showing more than 130hp at the wheel on the Dyno. That puts the motor between 140-150 hp. Wow!! Typical of the Germans under rating.
È costruita veramente male 😰😰
I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND 30 EXTRA HP IS UTTER AND TOTAL RUBBISH .
