Boston doesn't have a bad song, Brad Delp was a highly underrated singer.........R.I.P. Mr.Delp you are missed 🙏✌️
Underrated? By whom ? Everyone I know that has listened to him exalts him as one of the best. He was truly incredible
Yes they do. Their third album was dogshit
@@brucelilly8459 thank you for the comment…you beat me to the punch…I was just about to express the same.
He's rated appropriately as a legendary epic singer
@@brucelilly8459 Yup he wasn't even close to being underrated !!
Brad Delp a top 5 voice in rock imo. Sadly took his own life in 2007, I was heartbroken. Boston's debut album is one of the best rock albums ever.
I wonder what caused him to do that. He was only 55 years old. he must have been depressed. Happy people don't do that. He is missed by Boston fans.
@@eddie195777If I'm not mistaken the song Hitch a Ride from their first album was written as a metaphor for suicide. Brad brought joy and light to millions of lives but he was a deeply troubled man for many many years. It sucks, I pray he's found his peace now.
Boston is a legendary band. Brad Delp has an amazing voice and every song they have is good to great.
Had an amazing voice 😢😢
@@JimboUSAF007I was just about to say that
@@caperboy1169 😢
On all three Boston albums Brad Delp provided ALL of the vocals... the other members learned the harmony parts just for live performances. Delp is an AMAZING singer... RIP.
Yes. And this is the studio version, so it’s all Brad.
Yep, 100% Brad and 1000% golden. Miss you, Mr. Delp 😔❤️
The entire debut album is one killer song after another. Well worth an entire album reaction
I'm pretty sure this song was from their 2nd album...
@@bwcbiz It is.
@@tarmaque In fact, their second album WAS Don't Look Back.
No one sounds like Boston. So unique and original. Can't be duplicated 😊. All the band's back then had their own sound.
Boston is Alice in Chains but happy. Incredible harmonies and song structure.
Great classic song from a great iconic classic band. Their "More Than a Feeling" is probably their greatest hit. Love how they can show different styles within a single song such as this with the change ups that seem so effortlessly.
More than a feeling is probably the best rock song of all time
Def one of their best, and top iconic song. Those two high notes are phenomenal!
This is the original album cut. Brad Delp, the lead singer, sang all of the vocals on this. Harmonies and everything. Excellent voice and singer.
That's what I thought!
@@emcarnahan Single edit
Same with " more than a feeling" CBS liked to fool folks then and still are
Nope, this is the single edit, the original album version is longer.
@@d-d-i Yes, you're right. This is the single cut. I just wanted to point out to Beth that all the vocals are Brad.
One of my favorites that almost never gets suggested is "A Man I'll never Be" but you can't go wrong with any of their songs from the first 2 CDs.
One of the best debut albums of all time.
Indeed, even though this song was the title track for their second album.😁
By the time I heard Brad Delp sing for the first time, I was a classically trained pianist. And it irritated me how it seemed that none of my peers heard the technical and musical perfection in Delp’s voice the way I did.
To listen to your unscripted reaction to hearing Delp for the first time, literally brought tears to my eyes. It validates to me that I wasn’t overthinking or overstating my reaction to Delp’s talent!
💕💕
ALL VOCALS, ALL HARMONIES, ARE BRAD. No one else. This is just a video. All studio work, for vocals, was Brad overdubbing. As well it should be. He was THE BEST. Miss him, miss him...
One of the greatest bands of the 70's-80's. Loved their getting close to cringe sound that was unique at the time. So many superb songs...More than a Feeling, Peace of Mind, Long Time, etc...thanks Tom Scholz. Brad Delp..we loved your voice..RIP.
"I Think I Like It" is my favorite deeeep cut
Tom Scholz, Guitarist in white is the founder and a MIT Graduate in Music Engineering and came with a way to produce and equipment built for their specific sound. And still plays with Boston.
That chorus is so beautiful and epic. Kind of symphonic with all the layering. Gives me chills.
When in high school I worked landscaping. We used to cut the lawn next to Bostons drummer Sib… The band practiced in his basement. We would eat lunch on Friday’s at this house and listen to Boston practice, warm memory
Thanks for the review and reaction
I saw these guys live in the Tacoma Dome in 1987! Great show! Their first three albums are all awesome, from start to finish! RIP Brad Delp.
their entire first album is worth your listen! pure joy, and not a bad song on the entire album. Brad Delp was incredible, and we lost him to depression. i still get teary-eyed thinking about it. he was (by all accounts) one of the nicest guys in the world.
Boston was one of the 70's best hard rock bands. With one of the best singers in Brad Delp. They have a bunch of great songs that show off his range.
Beth, I believe that was the studio recording with some crowd noise added to make it sound like it was recorded at a concert. Brad Delp recorded all the lead and harmony vocals on the album.
This is my song of my teenage years when it was surrounded with Grunge, Alternative. and Electronic Pop at the time. I do enjoy Grunge and Alternative Rock at the time but some how "Don't Look Back" (original version) always carried me through. Beth, you need to hear the album version immediately.
Oh Beth!...had no idea you'd never reacted to Boston!! They are my absolute favorite band. Ever since i first heard "More Than a Feeling" from my brothers 45 record i was hooked. Please keep going down this highway of musical awesomeness!! Their 1st album is probably the greatest debut ever. EVER. I'll be waiting with anticipation for you to take a listen to their music. They have a sound that is unmistakable from anyone else.
There were (and are) only a few bands that can built up such a wall of sound. Guitars and vocals based on solid bass and drums, crowned with a few keyboards.
Delicious...
The soundtrack of my youth !
Boston and Kansas are my heroes. 😍
THe late great Brad Delp, one of the most outstanding singers of the 70's & 80's. Listen to the studio recording now - painstakingly engineered by the band leader/lead guitarist, Tom Scholz. In his basement. Not kidding. Tom played almost all the instruments on the first album. If he didn't have the right piece of equipment, he built one from scratch. Unfortunately Brad took his own life after battling depression. Rest in peace, sir.
'More Than a Feeling' would be another great one, from them, if you ever revisit Boston again!!!! Well done.
This is my favorite Boston song. Underrated band.
Brings back some great memories, I saw them in concert 3 times always great!! Watching you reviewing Boston; have goosebumps up and down both my arms!!!! Wow
This Is Very Iconic Band The Singer Brad Delp R.I.P. is one of The Very Best Rock Vocalist Amazing I have a suggestion by this Band A Man I’ll Never Be very touching Song
Having a bad day, you just cheered me up and made it better. I've liked Boston's music since the 70's and I really enjoyed your reaction. It's hearing it with fresh ears. I literally have tears of joy. Thank you Beth! ❤
my fave Boston song
More than a feeling is fire
Glad you are starting your Boston journey! You will love it. ❤❤❤
Unforgettable sound and vibe - so catchy. This one puts a smile on my face. Peace of Mind and More Than A Feeling are also great songs.
Boston band still one of my favorite until now and still active on my play list when I take a early morning jog.
Another classic. Sooo so so good. Talent oozes from these guys⚡⚡⚡✨🙌🏻🙌🏻
♪♪ I... finally see the dawn arrivin' ♫
I LOVE Boston! Their music is so uplifting. So glad you're featuring them.
This is a short version of the original song. I'm pretty sure this video was shot with them miming the song in the close up shots while mixing in live footage from their concerts. I think they did it this way because live recording back then wasn't so great and Tom Scholz (the creator of Boston) was really particular about their sound. You can always tell a Boston song by its guitar tone and vocal harmonies. RIP Brad Delp and Sib Hashian.
Great Reaction Beth! Boston's Debut Album is one of my all-time favorites. Brad Delp had one of the best rock voices ever. I got to see them in concert years ago, and they were awesome! Good Times.
Great tune, great band!! Having lived and worked in and around Boston for years, I'm well-familiar with these guys...please react to more of their music and they will freaking blow your mind!!
Their first two albums were fantastic all the way through. This was the title song of the second album. You should do a deep dive and listen to both albums. I think you'll be amazed.
More than a feeling by boston!!!!
If you want to hear the best vocals of all time for a rock song, you MUST hear this same band, Boston, and their epic hit, More Than a Feeling. Brad hits a D5 and then rockets it right up to an E5. It is a life-changing experience! And get the studio version! The lead guitarist and composer, Tom Scholtz produced it in his basement.
Again, thank you so much, Beth, for reacting to a Boston tune!! They are a great band!!
When Boston released their first album in 1976 I was a Senior in Highschool. 😅. It totally blew me away. Upbeat great Rock and Roll. Good times music 😁. Great road trip music. Had this on original vinyl. 🎉🎉🎉
When Boston is on the radio, you stop looking for a song.
Saw them in concert at the Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. in 1995. What a crowd! While waiting for the concert to start, we saw a man with greying hair in his' 50's walk in, wearing a Tux. His date was a stunning blonde in a light blue floor length evening gown with a tiara, diamond earrings/necklace and white elbow length gloves. 10 feet behind them, in walked a woman in her 30's wearing a black bustier, leather short shorts, fishnet stockings, thigh-high boots and black leather gloves. In her hand was a silver chained dog leash. This leash was attach to the collar of the man she was leading in. He was wearing black combat boots, black leather pants, a black leather vest (no shirt), spiked leather dog collar and a full head black leather mask with only breathing holes! I told my friends "This Concert just went to the next level"!! The concert was awesome!
I worked part time in the evening during High School. One night i pulled into the parking lot and their first single release was on the radio for the first time in 1976, and i knew right then they were gonna be a great band. We wore out both of Boston's first 2 albums on 8-Track, Cassette and Vinyl !
Need to learn their story ,, my favorite BAND !!!
Brad was a fantastic singer. I remember hearing him play in local bands in the late 1960's and early 1970's. We had a lot of mutual musician friends at the time. Even then he was considered the best vocalist in the North Shore music community by anyone who heard him. He was always a modest and very nice person.

This version edits out about a minute at least. Just do the audio versions. There is no autotune
Love this version. You have really brought out a depth and feeling in the text and melody. Looking forward to more covers. Would like to hear you do a version of The Cure's song Lovesong. All the best to you.
Yes this is the title trach of 2nd. The 1st is still fire, which is why i suggested it
I actually consider Bostons 1st album as one of the 3 best debut albums of rock ever. With Foreigner and Van Halen
My favorite classic rock band of all time. Timeless.
There's a mini documentary about Boston the one man band you should watch, it's an insane accomplishment how this band was created. The guy in white playing guitar with the smirk on his face is the mastermind behind the band that he created out of his basement.
I enjoyed watching you rock out to Boston.
I lived this. It was beautiful❤
First album I ever bought. Memories
Reaction Suggestion - Steve Perry (of Journey) told this guy he sings high. Wow!!! Check out the song Fight the Good Fight (or Never Surrender) by the band Triumph, Live at the US Festival 1983. The singer is Rik Emmett. He has amazing vocal range. And... imagine nailing these songs live in front of 300,000 fans!
Used to run in to Brad Delp all the time in the town I grew up in New Hampshire. Great human being, too bad he's gone.
Best demonstration of Delp’s amazing voice and range, IMHO, Is More Than a Feeling
Yep, we ALL had fabulous hair in the seventies!
Following up More than a feeling, the ultimate rock ballad, with this, the ultimate rock anthem.
Hands down one of the all time best voices in rock and roll
Listen to all of Boston. It’s a treat for the senses.
I enjoy seeing your reactions to various bands, you do not overanalyze but explain. You are like a date that goes to a concert and is about to jump on stage and start singing with the band.
Have to do “More than a Feeling”! Probably the greatest vocal rock and roll vocal performance of all time. No one can hit his high notes!! Unbelievable!
You can never go wrong with some Boston!
Boston was one of the many great bands on the radio during my teens. IMHO, the 70s pruduced the best music in rock history.
I saw them in the 70s and the 80s dude's voice is outerworldly😮
This is natural musicianship❤ expressionship. Don't have to go to college to express a gift. It is just that. Given.. everybody else has to go to School😂
RIP Mr. Delp, you are sorely missed.
Guitarist Tom Scholz is an MIT grad .He developed the guitar effects you hear..He later founded a company Rockman and marketed these effects
This was another great album from the mid seventies. I had this on 8-track back then.
I grew up with the 1st Boston album but, at 15 years old I heard this masterpiece! At the same time ELO released "Out of the Blue", I was in teenage music-kids heaven! I'm sure that with both these album's in my small collection via my older sister's hand-me-down record's pushed me into playing drum's and addition to my natural singing abilities was a big boost for my early band's!
I think I liked watching you dancing to the song as much as listening to the song LOL. Great to see your perspective woo hoo!
Such a great band.
saw them twice in NYC as a kid around 79
Ésta canción está en mi top songs ever. Desde siempre me estremecen sus notas, me hacen sentir vivo y con una carga de energía brutal.. INSUPERABLE BRUTAL
Love Boston, most of their songs are uplifting with excellent vocals and guitar work.
My favorite Boston song! Glad you liked it! :)
More Than a Feeling. You’ll love it.
Saw Boston 7 times. 1976 at Ohio State and last 2007 in New York. Incredible group
Best debut IMO for an American Rock and Roll band.
What I remember most from Boston is the vocal harmonies
You really can't lose with Brad Delp...his ISO's from their first album are freaking insane....
God I love the bassline in this song!
Putting aside for a moment how amazing Brad Delp's voice was, I loved how he always seemed to be smiling, at least for the videos. Makes it so enjoyable when it looks like the band is having fun on stage.
I first heard Boston on a friend's car stereo. I was 20 yrs old. They have the best vocals and guitar solos
Now that you've had a taste, you should definitely listen to More Than a Feeling from their debut album, but to be honest, you could react to any song from their debut, album. It was that good.
"More Than a Feeling" You must. You must.
My friend Bradley Delp had this great voice since Jr. Highschool....Brad sang all the lead as well as the harmony vocals....This video does not have live sound. This is from the studio album.
I agree that this is studio sound synced with live video, and audience sounds added. The assessment of Brad's vocals remain as she described. One thing to note is that, if I am correct, all the studio vocals were done by Brad. I saw them on their first tour after the release of the debut album and they were awesome.
This seems to be the studio recording but re-mixed. The bass seems more prominent and the balance is different. Obviously, the crowd was also mixed-in.
I've heard them live, and they sounded great all the time, so the others doing vocals in various lineups did a good job. That Giants stadium performance was horribly captured and is a terrible recording and representation of them live. Nothing can beat the original audio where it's all Brad's voice.
I lived in Lynn at the time and was a musician with a solo act, but most of my friends were in bands, so like many of that community of musicians we would get together and watch other friends playing in the area bars and clubs. So I did get to meet all the guys who went on to Boston in the late 60's and early seventies (except for Tom). I agree, Brad was phenomenal even then. And whenever he sat and talked with us he came across as very sincere and nice person.
OMG! I wish I was in shape to take voice lessons from you. YOU ARE SO SPOT ON. I have been a musician for over 48 years, and never professional trained, so I never was professional. I have much admiration for everything you do, and have been a subscribed watcher of you for many many months now. You always inspire me, and Thank You. Also, You are just so darned beautiful, in everything about you. GOD really outdid itself when your spirit happened.
One day, maybe I can do a Nylon guitar, or 12 string Verson of Wicked Game for you to sing. That would be lovely dream come true for me.
More Than A Feeling, or A Man I’ll Never Be to get a taste of Delp’s ability.
So nice to see you checking out Boston. They have many great songs worth checking out, but a few that I'd recommend are Foreplay-Longtime or More than a Feeling.
That was actually a shortened radio edit of the album version for that video. They edited out " the launch" (not the song on Third Stage) towards the end and ended it abruptly.
Showing my age but Boston was the soundtrack of my high school days.
Boston has lots of awesome songs. Another classic is (More Than Feeling.)
As mentioned, Brad sang all the vocal parts on all their studio recordings with a few exceptions. I was lucky enough to meet Brad backstage after a concert.
"A Man I'll Never Be" from this same album "Don't Look Back" is one of my favorite songs ever.
It has to be said that the rushed studio production of the "Don't Look Back" album, and not on Tom's basement gear, did not produce the incredibly rich sound of the first album - it sounds like it was transmitted over a lower bandwidth medium losing a lot of the low end and the rich clarity of the engineering and recording of the first album.
In other words, if you liked "Don't Look Back" you'll be blown away by their first album, "Boston".
"More Than A Feeling" is their most-popular song and it is amazing. I'd like to suggest something unusual: React to Rick Beato's breakdown of that song which includes islolated tracks( ua-cam.com/video/ynFNt4tgBJ0/v-deo.html ). You will be both amazed at Brad's vocals, but also see how the multiple vocal tracks were mixed together to form the great sounds you hear. Other isolated tracks reviews are also out there as well as the track files.
As for other Boston songs, I agree that the whole debut album is great, but you can't do them all at once so here's my order: "More Than A Feeling", "Foreplay/Long Time", "Hitch A Ride"( ua-cam.com/video/mrJ0xnXv_IQ/v-deo.html ), "Peace Of Mind", "Something About You", "Rock & Roll Band", "Smokin'", and "Let Me Take You Home Tonight".
You won't find a good live recording of Boston probably due to Tom's attitude of trying to keep the live performances for the live audiences after that horrible Giants Stadium experience.
Short version. As others have said here, even though live the others sang all the studio vocals were Brad Delp. His voice remains one of the most recognizable voices in rock history.
This is definitely the studio version with crowd noise added in, but I did see them live back in the 70s and they were awesome. Brad Delp is one of the best rock singers ever... he had an amazing voice. He also did all of the backing vocals on this. Great band and one of my favourite vocalists of all time!
I've listened to Boston records thousands of times. Please do yourself a favor and listen to more. You won't regret it.
Great to see Don't Look Back featured. Typically someone starts with More Than A Feeling but, as has been said, there's no bad song to choose.
I had their first album (on 8-track) when it came out in 1976 and basically wore it out. Then my brother bought this one and we wore it out, too.
RIP 🙏 BRAD! What a voice!👏👏👏
All the harmonies are Brad Delp multitracked in the studio. 👍
