I admire this interviewer for showing no sign of fear of Frank that many journalists did.

And then he called it with the BYE BYE. Just as you would have liked it? I dunno.

@@plasticdadaii8225 What do you mean? I'm a big admirer of Frank Zappa and the way he's so conciliatory to interviewers.

When I was 12 in 1969, my mother, out of the blue, invited me and 2 of my school buddies, to go see the Mothers of invention at the Fillmore East. I had no idea who they were, and had never been to a rock show before. Talk about a WTF moment!

Yes Frank, your fans do read books. At least I can only speak for myself. I'm sorry you didn't know that when you were alive.

Frank, I never met you, but you are missed. Your book was great! I'd also recommend the biography "Electric Don Quixote" to any fans of his. And of course Arfnotes, for interpretations of the more obscure lyrics he wrote.

As soon as he said "Let me point something out to you," you knew she was gonna get schooled. Love and miss Frank: the most intelligent and greatest interviewee ever.

Jane Pauley - Fearless on asking ZaPPa those amazing questions. 😁👍🏻

I don't know why everyone here is so hard on this interviewer. She did a good job in making him smile, in making his relax and easy with her. He liked her, you can tell, so I don't think it helps to criticise.

Even though Frank didn't have cancer at the time, he still looks terrible for a guy in his late 40's.

What an odd interviewing style - ask questions and ignore the answers.

+stargate669 I disagree. I think she was excellent at making him relaxed. He had a twinkle in his eye throughout. He liked her. That's quite a feat.

How the fuck has she ignored his answers? She did a great job making sure Frank didn't feel like he was wasting his time with a stupid journalist both by making good connections and giving him space to talk

I translated this book to Hebrew. This guy has so much intelligence he's like a funny Einstein. It's too bad he had to spend so much of his time with inconsequential, antagonistic morons (like this blond sapiens interviewing him). But His Name Lives On: Frank Zappa, the LA Music Bandit! (and my spiritual bro, may he finally RIP). Udi

Didn't Frank have a PR agent or manager to coach him that on MSM short appearances you have to have entertaining anecdotes to fill up the time? Too many one-word responses to questions creates awkwardness. Personally, I don't care - but that's not how to optimize the appearance.

Bit of a mismatch, Zappa and this show. Bit like Brian May on that daytime coffee morning type programme. (or like having God on for 4 minutes - what would you ask?)
