Omg this house! I used to see it off the 101 fwy on the way up to slo in the 90s. I always wondered what happened to it. So cool to see it in this video.
Never knew there was a video for this song. SO very early 90's vibe. Love it. Baby Glen looking like a Minion in his oversized shirt yellow shirt and overalls.
All I Want is their biggest hit. That single received tons of airplay but sadly, it was the only single to do so. Tbh, I think they deserved better but whatcha gonna do?
@@mc98smusicmoviereviews93 that's not even remotely true. "Walk on the ocean" followed all I want and was just as big, and then they had "fall down" and "somethings always wrong" from the next record which were huge singles, as well as "good intentions" from 1995 which was also pretty high up on the Billboard charts for them. And they had mini singles in between all of those that charted well but weren't quite as big. A lot of their stuff landed at college radio. They ended their major label career in 1997 with two more fairly successful alternative radio singles, "calm down" and "crazy life" before taking a 16 year hiatus from making records
I heard TTWS for the first time on Portland’s Classic Rock station KGON right after the release of FEAR. A few years later, I found this video playing on a late night music show and recognized their name. I bought the cd FEAR in 1995 and I’ve been a fan ever since.
Absolute '90's video here! I like that they didn't only show Randy Guss behind his drums. I'm not sure if it's a decision on his part or those who directed Toad's music videos, but it's sad not seeing him in shots with the other three.
I bought the album Fear around 1995 and this is also the first time I seen the video. I thought this band was much older- they were only in their early 20's
love these old videos being available in high quality here finally! love their recently released comeback album "New Constellation", hope to see new videos from that!
The video was filmed originally where the Elks Rodeo Grounds are, off the 101 a little south of Santa Maria. The house was looming on a hill and could be seen from the freeway. It got very decrepit and old and was moved though some time in the late 90’s/early 2000’s to another city. I assumed it was torn down eventually but I didn't give up. A few long hours of emailing and replying and I found its present location. It is actually a winery venue and got restored. You can have a wedding party in the house itself. The venue is called Crossroads Estates and its in Los Olivos. Here is a map to where the exact location is today. Here is a link to the location on Google Maps: goo.gl/maps/UHfwnCSYPxGWZh5T8 Here is a photo of what the house looks like now: www.theweddingstandard.com/blog/ellery-amp-raig-weddingnbsp/gallery/169704/
I just spent the past hour aggressively searching the internet to find out what happened to that house! Thanks for posting! (and what a super strange coincidence...)
I am now convinced that Ed Sheeran ripped this song off for Castle On The Hill. The odd thing is that makes me respect Sheeran all the more because this is a damn good song. "When I was six years old, I broke my leg" "Bradley took a spill, said his leg was broken so we rolled him down the hill" "Take me to the castle on the hill" "Bradley said it's haunted, the house up on the hill" I mean, that's all I have to go on for now but the similarities are uncanny. Love TtWS btw, they're so slept on.
Man this is NOT what I see when I have heard this song a thousand times over the years. This the the first time I have seen this video, didn't know one existed. What I always envisioned is Glen and the band and young kids not full grown men?

This CD came out before nevermind this is true alternative music.fear is an awesome album
now it's Sarah bareilles all day
Both are great albums from 1991
Diehard Falcons / Toad fan
the day i heard this i fell in love with Toad The Wet Sprocket!
Glen is one of the few singers whose voice sounds the same after 20 years...love them!
Try 30 years
Never knew there was a video for this song. SO very early 90's vibe. Love it. Baby Glen looking like a Minion in his oversized shirt yellow shirt and overalls.
I'm a devoted hip hop fan. But this is the 1st album I ever loved. And in my opinion one of the 5 best albums I've ever listened to.
Love ALL their songs. I'm 51 yrs old and love 80s and 90s music

In love with this band since about 1992 and today, 6/5/2015, is the first time I've ever seen this video. Wow. Definitely, just wow....
I have never seen this video until now...
@@eschnitger me too! Glenn is dressed like a minion before it was a thing!

I cant say why, but this is my favorite Toad The Wet Sprocket song.
Why can't you say? Did you kick a ladder? :p
@@toriboy25 ha! good one.
i don't get why this wasn't more popular. never heard it on radio.
it wasn't more popular because people saw this video
I heard it all the time, but I was living in a college town.

They had the decency to plug in for the video shoot. This band has amazing vintage guitar tones all over their recordings.
What a great song! "My God it's full of stars."
I was listening to this track this morning....nevee knew there was a video. Love Toad!

Always been one of my favorite songs by them!
Every group has that one person who has to bring sandwiches, even when visiting an allegedly haunted house at 4am.
yeah loved this song & the entire fear album when i was younger
Great band ! I have seen them live. Sounds just like the CD. Very under rated.
This has always been my favorite Toad the Wet Sprocket song. :)
Toad should sing this song on tour 😊❤️☀️
Toad. The mystery persists; there should be many more accolades here - through, to and including 2021 and infinitely beyond.
nice hair dude ..looks like a fun video summer 1991
I saw you guys five times in college and met you a few backstage... lovely lads all
Something was happening alright... the maturation of a phenomenal writer and vocalist
Such Young Babes....... 🥰
Great album..
Smile every time randy guss plays drums he just is always so happy to play such a good band
This song was my first ever guitar lesson, fell in love with the band after that.
I feel the same but as a drummer. Thanks for all the inspiration over the years Randy Guss! ;)
thats really cool
Phillips began Toad the Wet Sprocket in 1986, at the age of 15.
Must have been a bit of a prodigy. He looks really young in this video. And it's a surprise to see him with long hair.
His first 2 albums with TTWS were gems. Songs like When We Recovered, Torn, Come Back Down, I Think About and She Cried are among Toad's best.
Fly from heaven, good intentions, all I want
Awesome song... From the album Fear!!

glen was like 17 or 18 when their first album came out.
The overalls on Glen…. Way too cute!

I can hear Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in this song. Another favorite.
This song still packs a punch! Love you guys then and now ;)
The drummer dancing was very funny!!
Great tune still listening at 47 in 2024
Seeing them in Denver next month! Pretty amped!

Is It for Me
Toad the Wet
Album: Fear
Bradley says it's haunted
The house upon the hill
And if we meet at four a.m.
Then we would know for sure
We carry the ladders
And lean them against it
And climb them as we look
Someone kicked a ladder
Bradley took a spill
Said his leg was broken
So we dragged him down the hill
And through the door
What do I see?
Something is happening
Is it for me?
Is it for me?
Mom found out the whole thing
Mine was first to call
Bradley's leg healed badly
At least he still can walk
We leave in the morning
And no one will hear us
And meet in the clearing
And I'll bring the sandwiches
David come quickly
You're missing the whole thing
Now open your big eyes
And take in the sunrise
And through the door
What do I see?
Something is happening
Is it for me?
Through the door
What do I see?
Something is happening
Is it for me?
Is it for me?

Love this song. However, it's as if this video was penance where they each had to do horribly embarrassing things on film to pay for their success.
