      He did seem concerned about how much fuel he had, but at every moment the ATC tried to persuade him to prepare for landing he ignored it. I'm guessing his concern about fuel was either because part of him wanted to land, or because he was concerned about how much time he had left to experience everything he wanted before crashing it :(

      I think you nailed it. I bet this young man just wanted to be an airline pilot - wear the uniform, and be in-command of air transport class aircraft. He probably just wanted to fly for a living. Watching flights come and go for 3 years, and just wanting to be one of those crew members - so sad. Rest in peace young man.

    "His wheels are smoking left and right" (see time stamp 1:08) " he's right now rolling down the runway". Those words were reported by another pilot who saw the event. The following is a simple explanation for non-pilots. This probably means Rich had his feet too high up on the rudder pedals and was engaging the airplane's main landing gear's individual brakes as he was trying to keep the airplane straight on the center of the runway.
    The main landing wheels are the ones under the wings. For anyone who is not a pilot, the rudder pedals on the floor of the cockpit can make the rudder on the back of the tail go left or right. But when the airplane is on the ground, the same rudder pedals also have a mechanical linkage connected to the nosewheel for steering at lower speeds. As the airplane goes faster on takeoff, the more the directional control is shifted from the nosewheel to the rudder on the vertical tail.
    When a pilot pushes the right rudder pedal to the right, the nose wheel will turn right as well as the rudder control surface on the vertical tail. But the very tippy top of the rudder pedal can also be pushed down like a gas pedal on a car to engage the individual disc brake on the main landing gear. So if you push forward on the bottom of the right rudder pedal, the nose wheel will turn right, as well as the rudder surface on the vertical tail. But if the pilot pushes down on the tippy top of the right rudder pedal on the floor, it will also go down like a car's gas pedal to engage the brake the main landing gear.
    During takeoff, Rich probably pressed down on the right and left rudder pedals as if he was stepping on gas pedals on a car, causing each main landing gear's brake to lock and skid causing tire smoke while the airplane was taking off. It is kind of like the smoke you make when you jam on your car's brakes to avoid a rear-end fender bender. Yeah, we've all been there before.
    I've tried to explain this as simply as possible for non-pilots who might be reading this. But this is the most likely reason why the landing gear wheels were smoking while Rich was taking off, as reported by another pilot.

      I figured the stress and G-Forces would of ripped the wings (wing deformation due to bolt failure or airframe deformation) off....if not causing the engines to stall due lack of fuel (moving AWAY) from the fuel pumps.
      Don't get me started on loss of lift over the wings and this guy loosing conciousness!
      So what he did was epic....since no one else died.
      Still that was a 25-30 million dollar plane.
      That is gonna hurt someones wallet!

    • @Crafting_Through_Life
      @Crafting_Through_Life 2 роки тому +3

      In my twisted, sad, and lonely brain, when he did that flip/roll/whatever, didn’t stall the plane, pulled back out of it without shredding the plane, and didn’t lose consciousness, I was thinking, “Bruh, you just did one hell of an epic thing for those of us who don’t want to be here but don’t have the balls or heart to take ourselves out because we have kids and family that love us.” That is how, unfortunately things like depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc brains look at situations like this. I know what it’s like to be ready to be done with this world and tired of the every day mental beat downs we get from people who just don’t understand it’s not as easy as just, “forcing ourselves out of bed”, let alone doing the basics of survival like getting out of bed to eat/drink/shower. As I have told the few closest to me, “it’s quite literally those of us who have no impulse control like this guy and those of us who have major depression but never utter a single word about suicide, that you really need to pay close attention to and check up on often because typically, it’s the people you would least expect, like this happy go lucky sounding guy, that would act on the impulse/bad thoughts”. So if you know someone who has a mental health history, it doesn’t matter what it is or if they make it appear they are happy, sit down with them, look them in the eyes, and ask them, “how are YOU, really doing?” If at that moment you see tears well up and they try to hide it and say they are fine, that you have your answers and know you need to keep a close eye on them and keep steady but not over bearing/annoying daily contact with them because honestly, nobody else probably does and they truly believe nobody cares whether they are here or not, on a daily basis especially if they can’t be bothered to even send a basic, hi, text to them.

      The basics of airflight are pretty simple and the basics of airplane operations can be learned by paying attention and asking questions. And flight simulator games are actually pretty good practice. What pilots really get paid for is safe and efficient operations. That is something our poor friend never needed to know. RIP

      Agreed, the startup procedures for turbo props can be involved, and this guy spun up two of them. What I found more surprising is that no one noticed him entering the plane, starting both engines, and taxiing to the runway before the tower tried to reach him. Or maybe none of that is part of the edited video.

      Derail07, no I took the traditional route, spent tons of money and time getting my license, then spent more money and time getting areobat training in a DR-109 design one. Maybe it’s my love of aerobatics... maybe it’s the voice of my areobat instructor stick in my head about how to do these maneuvers right. This guy was a suicidal thief, and flew that dash like it was a video game until he crashed it... I never claimed to be a bad ass. I do have training and experience flying aerobatic aircraft, in addition to flying and owning a stol bush plane. My experience in aviation is enough that I can see when someone does a maneuver correctly or incorrectly. This guy, while impressive he lasted as long as he did, did these maneuvers wrong. From improper entry, to over speeding, to inconsistent g-loading. It’s a wonder he didn’t rip the wings off....

      A pilot from Boeing did a barrel roll with a Boeing 707 during a demonstration flight! Didn't you know that? There is a video here in UA-cam about it, make your own research on it and look it for yourself! I by myself flew a Fokker 50 in my efforts to become a pilot for jets and I saved it from crashing into a Boeing 727 during a near miss by using my skills what I've learned from old pilots of the WW2! They have learned me to fly the legendary and incredible stuka-maneuver and many other combat maneuvers during air-to-air fights and air-to-ground fights and with this skills it was able for me to use a half of the stuka-maneuver to safe my Fokker 50 with four passengers inside and the Boeing 727 with many people inside! I must say that this guy had a lot of good flying skills to use this aircraft for this aerobatic style flight, wow! The Fokker 50 is looking like this aircraft he flew in Seattle! Lovely greetings from Sarah and have a great and peaceful day and stay safe out there and take care of you ✈️💖✈️💖✈️💖✈️💖✈️💖

      Caylo Delphi, You repeat yourself. I just find it tiresome when people talk about "where his soul may be now" and "I hope he found peace". He didn't find anything but the ground. Where else would he be? He's dead. Sure it's sad and sobering. But that's no reason to resort to supernatural nonsense.

    I’m surprised I have seen no conversation about how Beebo was able to manage the complexity of this aircraft - I understand his ability to gain access, basic flight controls etc - BUT, this is one of the most complex aircraft in use today - “I’ve played some video games before” - does not even come close to an explanation; there are serious flight sim people who spend hours upon hours and can’t manage to get this off the ground in the simulation, - Myself, and I’m sure many others would be VERY interested in hearing what a pilot certified in this aircraft has to say concerning this...

      How lovely, romanticizing societally psychotic behavior. Would you call the Texas tower sniper "Kill King"? A 9-11 pilot " 'Scraper King"? Oswald "Headshot King"? Oh, but this guy committed a homicidally negligent crime, but "didn't mean to hurt anyone." Yeah, that makes him just swell, huh?

    • @Bill_Woo
      @Bill_Woo 4 роки тому +3

      @@lovely-ys1no Homicidal, meaning that he practiced behavior that could be deadly to others. This was not an "innocent suicide" or going out in style. This endangered many lives both in the air and on the ground. That's why no one, no one, NO ONE is allowed to fly an airplane without certification and authorization. And that is why military jets had missiles locked in on his brains.
      Psychotic commenters here act as though it was just fine for him to do what he did, but only by luck and swift diversions by ATC was there no innocent loss of life. By luck when he lost control and crashed did the plane not strike the people on that island. What he did is referred to as homicidal negligence. And that by no means should be celebrated, like the sick psychos in the comments are doing.
      If it ever happens again, and innocent people die, which very very easily could have been the case here, those cheering people can go to sleep every night with trembling pain :( This criminal, felon, federal crimes felon, military crimes felon with missiles pointed at him, was a homicidal maniac.

    • @weeaboo4753

      Bill Woo “homicidal maniac” implies that he was out with the intent to hurt people. If that were the case he would’ve taken a plane with passengers, and slammed into the olympics.

    • @Bill_Woo
      @Bill_Woo 4 роки тому +3

      @@weeaboo4753 No, that is incorrect. Homicidal negligence does not require intent to kill. This is a perfect example, where his negligence - and pay close attention here, WILLFUL negligence - mortally threatened innocent lives. And THAT is why missiles were aimed at him. His negligence - WILLFUL negligence - actually - and legally - threatened innocent lives.
      And the "maniac" label needs no explanation for that lunatic.

I feel really bad for ATC it must have just been so hard to hear. Poor man in the Dash-8, life crushed him. The "American Dream" is NOT achievable by effort alone, you need extreme luck or to be born in good circumstances.

      I didn't say it was a difficult day for the Air Force. I was referring to these two brave American F-15 pilots who were put in a position where they had to save fellow Americans, but while possibly having to kill one of their own (Rich, another American) to do so. So yes - I think it's fair to say that's a difficult day at the office for the pilots. Rock41 was also the first to report the crash, so he saw Rich's death and that may weigh heavy on him for various reasons. Anyway I was just declaring my respect for them that's all. Peace, hope, love, and respect from Australia
