This channel is just amazing! I want to mention some articles(personally, I am a big fan of such essays and collect and read them on a regular basis).
    1) What is Good Mathematics? (Tery Tao)
    2) "Theoretical Mathematics" (Jaffe, Quinn)
    3) The Future of Mathematics (Andre Weil)
Would definitely add more if I find😃😃😃

I really enjoyed View of Mathematics by Alain Connes.
I keep returning to the following quote,
"The really fundamental point in that respect is that while so many mathematicians have
been spending their entire scientific life exploring that world they all agree on its
contours and on its connexity: whatever the origin of one’s itinerary, one day or another
if one walks long enough, one is bound to reach a well-known town i.e. for instance to
meet elliptic functions, modular forms, zeta functions. “All roads lead to Rome" and
the mathematical world is “connected" ".
I find the latter part where all roads lead to a town of objects intimately connected to number theory very intriguing. Now think about Minhyong Kim's paper "Why everyone should know number theory", and you're hooked!
I so badly want to understand all of this!

I'm been reflecting on topics I would like to see discussed on a public forum, perhaps someone will find this interesting:
    I. What is the relationship between mathematics and job security, and is it unethical to form a strong association between these notions?
II. Shouldn't mathematicians post more lectures online? Is this not the best way to reach those of lower social classes? If we are to encourage inclusivity doesn't this necessarily require us to teach beyond the boundaries of citizenship?
III. Why aren't works of the past being translated en masse? In particular, many Latin classics are left untouched, we adore Gauss and Jacobi yet cannot read these scholars without spending hundreds of hours acquiring Latin, an activity that takes one away from mathematics!
IV. What can mathematicians do to reduce publishing costs? Why are book prices so high and why aren't more scholars outspoken against charging $80 for a single volume of work X for example?
    V. What is mathematics like for those living under the tyranny of fascist regimes?

I'm curious to see which other articles people recommend. I knew Thurston's article but don't know any other similar articles. Except maybe the classical Mathematician's Apology by Hardy.
