To be a top down and truly great physicist, you need to be a top down and truly great mathematician. Here's the CLEAR proof ON BALANCE. ULTIMATE, CLEAR, BALANCED, INTEGRATED, IRREFUTABLE, AND MATHEMATICAL PROOF THAT ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is gravity: Consider what is TIME. E=MC2 is taken directly from F=ma, AS gravity/acceleration involves BALANCED inertia/INERTIAL RESISTANCE; AS the rotation of WHAT IS THE MOON matches it's revolution; AS ELECTROMAGNETISM/energy is CLEARLY (AND NECESSARILY) proven to be gravity (ON/IN BALANCE); AS the stars AND PLANETS are POINTS in the night sky ON BALANCE; AS TIME is NECESSARILY possible/potential AND actual ON/IN BALANCE. Does someone know if there exists some quality footage of Serre's Abel lecture (entitled "Prime numbers, equations and modular forms”) ? Too bad it is not avaliable on this channel as those from many of the Prize subsequent winners... I suspect nothing was ever recorded back then in 2003.
@@pilpoil3000 To be honest with you, I find all of 20th century (and also 19th century) mathematics inspiring. These people were the pioneers of the past, and now it's up to us to carry the legacy.
I don't get the sense he's uncomfortable.. he's clearly enjoying some of these questions ("Ahhh, you know!", "You push the right buttons...") and quaffing what looks to be a fine beer. This footage is pure gold.
He seems uncomfortable speaking English, I don't think everyone in mathematics and science should be forced to present and give lectures in English if they don't want to. Some of them speak it very badly and it's impossible to understand.
French people have such a weird obsession with speaking French. The interviewers aren’t speaking Norwegian respectively German or Danish and that’s a good thing! If all spoke their native languages they wouldn’t be able to communicate with each other
These interviewers have done their homework. Year after year, they succeed in engaging these uniquely talented Abel prize winners.
8:14 "I just like mathematics" - Jean-Pierre Serre
Very humble. And one of our best mathematics
It's nice to hear Serre in English
I can't really follow what he is saying tbh, I would prefer French.
@@holliswilliams8426 You don' t know english ? That's funny...
He speaks english very clearly.
Lol
@@jean-christopheMiquel-ef3ur you're being a jerk. At times it is very difficult to understand what he is saying. He has an extremely thick accent.

amazing interview

Serre ... The best mathematician of the 20th century
Agreed, but don't forget Grothendieck.

Serre isnt even in top10
Serre, c est la classe. j aurai aime etre son camarade a la rue d Ulm. 😎😎
He don't reply about what was reaction of getting tha prize that's shows that he don't work for name fame & money as Grigori Perelman
good example of making a safe choice when you give out a medal. Just like the Nobel these days.
Does he believe in god ?
Yes.
He' s protestant.
Now he's 97 years old and he works very strong.
You should do it in French and translate it to English, he is clearly uncomfortable.
To be fair, he speaks English nearly perfectly
