Nafis Fuad I would say more like, $500-600, at best. Challenging the Samsung Note series with something far better than the crappy, budget Stylos), and ofc the integration of 5G on a midrange device. But $750 for a midranger, esp one that DROPS beloved LG features like the quad DAC, and pro video mode ?! IDK what the Korean equivalent of sake is, but clearly, LG execs have been drinking far too much of it. That price makes no sense when one can buy the G8x for $700 and the V60 for $900 - which LG is essentially forcing audiophiles and content creators who happen to be LG fans, to do.
Thanks for doing... About a month ago I bought the LG v50 for $300 , when it first came out last year it was $1000 . It's got the 855 processor, 6 ram, 128 storage, sd card, water& dust ip68, dual speakers, head phonejack with quad DAC, great screen, 4000 battery and it's got 5g . Never buy LG phones when they first come out just wait and you can get a great deal on a really good phone and the only negative slow software updates.
@@harysviewty Yep I agree... If LG provided updates in a timely manner I would see their phones as more valuable and buy as new. My LG phone has the January update and it's now the middle of July and so that tells you everything you need to know about their security updates.
Two main problems with Lg phones painfully slow software updates and their software starts to lag overtime. If they could fix those two then I think it'll be worth it.
Looks beautiful and elegant, I've been using LGV30+ for 2 years now it's one of the best to date still for me , haven't felt any need to upgrade as a photographer it has everything a cinematographer need however I would still want to get hand on this beauty 😍 and great review ofc ❤️ as always :)
When the LG designers ground themselves into a beautiful phone and the developers built just right mid-range phone specs, The phone price was ridiculously set as high as a high-end device by an industrial spy at LG's mobile department, who secretly wants LG to go diminished in the mobile market. "Perfect mid-ranger, (but) with a mental price tag"
Hey Joshua , it's still is a smartphone, not a SLR camera. Maybe you can focus on the 5G and waterproof MIL-810G certification. How fast is the 5G internet on the LG Velvet, btw? In my state it's a deal breaker! Please review this!

Good to see Joshua doing the review as his reviews are solid shame though Jaime Rivera refused to review this phone I suppose after the Apple event the other day he still is wiping the drool from his mouth and had no time for a Android phone
On paper, this phone seems amazing! But the reality only thing that's still going to hold LG back even with this amazing revamp is their UI experience and software update schedule. I feel like some of the camera issues could be fixed in software updates
I'm glad LG has stepped up its design. It's clear that this is focused on style over specs, but it would be great to see LG launch a phone with both, especially if they hope to finally gain some profitability in 2021
That Wacom layer on the screen is a super under appreciated feature. Wish my iPhone had it and I could just use an Spen to sketch ideas on it. If it wasn’t for the operating system, I wouldn’t be anywhere near an iPhone
Camera quality is very important to me and that's why I'm returning this phone... I thought I could overlook the difference as compared to my LG v40, but after actually using the Velvet, it's just intolerable. I can't even bother to stick around for any software updates... Unfortunate... because otherwise (and overall), the Velvet is not too bad functionally or aesthetically.
Hi Received this phone yesterday in Spain. I think it's a great phone. Speakers sound good, the photos I have taken are great. True colours, plus you can shoot video with the black bars. which I prefer. Plus, I can interact with my LG TV , to look at all my photos and videos which look great on the large screen. The 3d feature is also good. Which I haven't seen before on a phone. Mine cost 609.00 euros.
I hope LG will have additional patrons for that beautiful hardware design...but.. for removing the HIFI QUAD DAC...they just reduced their supporters ...including me. I'll just stick to my V50 & G8.
You can install lg v60 camera apk to bring more modes (manual video) with better ui (60fps / real time hdr preview, camera switching transition) and better processing (no sharpening)
All I ask is for a phone with this style, with the pixel camera for photos, with a video camera like the iphone, the screen from samsung, the battery life from a moto g power, and the one plus snappiness.
When can we see a V series phone with velvet kind of looks? The V60 is almost perfect... I wish it's wide alnge camera is capable of close focussing to make it a macro camera and velvet like aesthetics not as narrow as velvet though
Im an lg fan.. Currently own the g8.. However with the Velvet they need to lower the price a bit since its not really a flagship per say.. $500 to $600 should be enough.. The 600 would come with the accessories like the dual screen etc while the 500 does not.. Or just have a fixed price at 600 or 550 If they at least did this then more people would consider buying it

The price tag is a huge concern specially because of the under par camera performance and to some extent the sd. With the dual screen and seeing how the camera performs, I won't mind this at $550. As some brands like realme offers better overall performance at that price range
Josh $750 is flagship price. To me that's where flagship price start at. In real world use a 760 and at 865 I really don't think that's all that much difference not in everyday use. But for it to have a mediocre camera. Anytime you get past$500 the camera is always going to be a major selling point. Just my opinion

Good evening, I have a pixel 3a xl and I'm interested in this lg velvet, what do you think about the cameras? Is it worth the change in all aspects considering audio, battery, screen and cameras?
I'm an LG gcam developer (who pioneered pentacamera gcam for others) Yes the camera would be so great with gcam Gcam superresolution works with big resolution sensor And wide angle in gcam provide wider dynamic range
@@harysviewty Very happy, thank you because that is my concern, I know that the velvet is not up to my 3axl pixel on camera, but in everything else it is better, you as a developer who has more experience in this field, using a compatible gcam with this lg, how close or far would the velvet camera be compared to the google pixel stock?
I only had 2 LG phones, my beloved Nexus 5 and my current V35 ThinQ. The reviews are correct the cameras are serviceable but not great, e.g. my Nexus 6P (traded in for the V35) took way better images. Just my 2¢, RIP LG you'll be missed.
Joshua is too hard on the camera. Its a mid range phone that utilizes a mid range chipset...Getting a "great" camera out of that would've resulted in sub par photos. In my opinion the photos I've seen have been better than other SD765 phones out there. So don't think this is on the level of a premium phone. It is close with the features but as he said its a utilitarian phone...which does everything very well as it should
No Bro The LG Velvet Cost 650$ with the Dual Screen ,so it's completely Worthy its price , and Also for that Upper mid Range that Camera is The Best Featured and The Best Quality , u Can Record Amazing Quality 4K in Both Rear and Front Camera and There's Also a Manual Mode in The Velvet , Even Some Shit Flagship don't record 4k in Front Camera , also the Velvet offer a complete Package in Multi tasking , Stereo Audio , IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, wireless , that no any others Smartphones in that Range offer it even some flagship don't offer it , so Bro , stop saying like that , because the Velvet is Ultimate Package for 650$
This reminds me of the LG Chocolate back in the day for some reason. LG really caters to it's home country. Super stylish with not much substance and meh specs.
We should wait to see the actual pricing in the United states and other parts of the world. If this comes at 600 or 550 dollars then I'm sure to buy this one. Because I trust LG's hardware, Manual Camera mode, Mics, Audio performance and Great Screen and now it comes with extra features so that's a major go for me.
Just watched your video. I have the this phone. And think it's really good I have taken some excellent photos using manual mode. Sound quality is great. As well as reception. I have compared it with my S20 plus and I prefer this one. The S20 radio reception is rubbish. Especially in wide open areas.
I don't like that you guys mention face unlock on phones that can't back it up with proper hardware. Android supports it but it's up to the manufactures to choose if they wanna include an easily foolable face unlock.
Until LG ups their software update game (they are absolutely the worst company in that regard, even worse than Motorola), no amount of rebranding and aesthetic overhauling will bring me back to them. And I say that as an ex-superfan of their phones. I love their camera options and the fact that they're keeping the headphone jack alive.
I got used lg v50 with great condition for under usd 300. Thinking that buying an lg phone with weaker processor, slightly worse camera without manual video, no quad dac and nothing else at double the price is quite ridiculous. Just get yourself a used lg phone. Before this I was using a OnePlus 7 and change to few phones before lg. I think that lg phone give a lot more feature for your money.

I am using a S10 im not a huge fan of the curve and honestly i prefer face id over the in display sensor which is why I do not like the single front camera ill take the notch and face id over full screen id like a back display fingerprint sensor i dont knot build it in to the back glass
This looks like an interesting phone, but I'm not sure it's worth the price. Android Authority said their unit had problems with their unit's performance? Any issues with this unit?
The phone looks great from the back. Unfortunately, that's it. It's oversized, with an awful curved display and an even worse notch. It's like LG focuses all their attention on the back of the phone and ignored all the rest, using the worst of Android design (curved displays and notches) for the rest of the phone.

Good evening, I have a pixel 3a xl and I'm interested in this lg velvet, what do you think about the cameras? Is it worth the change in all aspects considering audio, battery, screen and cameras?
I'm an LG gcam developer (who pioneered pentacamera gcam for others)
Yes the camera would be so great with gcam
Gcam superresolution works with big resolution sensor
And wide angle in gcam provide wider dynamic range
@@harysviewty Very happy, thank you because that is my concern, I know that the velvet is not up to my 3axl pixel on camera, but in everything else it is better, you as a developer who has more experience in this field, using a compatible gcam with this lg, how close or far would the velvet camera be compared to the google pixel stock?
_I'd be all over the Velvet if it had a pop-up selfie camera instead of the notch_ 😀
In my opinion LG has the best software skin....on any android....
It needs some refinements sure
But it's far from problematic like some reviewer pretend
It doesn't, but you're entitled to your wrong opinion 😆
Same I love LG's UI
Joshua is too hard on the camera. Its a mid range phone that utilizes a mid range chipset...Getting a "great" camera out of that would've resulted in sub par photos. In my opinion the photos I've seen have been better than other SD765 phones out there. So don't think this is on the level of a premium phone. It is close with the features but as he said its a utilitarian phone...which does everything very well as it should
Jaime was probably devastated that he couldn’t review this phone
He nearly cried 😭
🤣
You forgot the Dex mode which id possible on the LG Velvet... it's run perfectly
No Bro The LG Velvet Cost 650$ with the Dual Screen ,so it's completely Worthy its price , and Also for that Upper mid Range that Camera is The Best Featured and The Best Quality , u Can Record Amazing Quality 4K in Both Rear and Front Camera and There's Also a Manual Mode in The Velvet , Even Some Shit Flagship don't record 4k in Front Camera , also the Velvet offer a complete Package in Multi tasking , Stereo Audio , IP68 Water and Dust Resistance, wireless , that no any others Smartphones in that Range offer it even some flagship don't offer it , so Bro , stop saying like that , because the Velvet is Ultimate Package for 650$
Expandable memory?
Yes
You know what would make that phone look way sexier? SOFTWARE UPDATES!!!
Face unlock isn’t no where close to FaceID that Apple offers so I don’t see how this is a knock to only LG
It doesn't have any, of course it's a 'knock'
This reminds me of the LG Chocolate back in the day for some reason. LG really caters to it's home country. Super stylish with not much substance and meh specs.
This phone just dropped on AT&T for $599. Thinking about the Velvet, Galaxy A71, or the upcoming Pixel 4a for an upgrade.
Style with those specs can bring it to the 500€ mark, anything above that is ridiculous.
The video sounded like he was underwater
I just paid off my samsung A50 do you think it is a good idea to get this phone over what I am using?
whether or not its the beast upgrade out there I don't know, but it performs better than an A50.
Are the manual video still there?
If all basic features of a good phone are met, then beauty and style becomes top priority for me....wherein the Velvet scores a 10.
It's going to be priced similar to a71 5g
Just watched your video.
I have the this phone. And think it's really good I have taken some excellent photos using manual mode. Sound quality is great.
As well as reception. I have compared it with my S20 plus and I prefer this one. The S20 radio reception is rubbish. Especially in wide open areas.
I like the phone, its not meant to be a total Flagship to my knowledge which is why lacking some features is nbd.
Does lg still not have dark mode?
I don't like that you guys mention face unlock on phones that can't back it up with proper hardware. Android supports it but it's up to the manufactures to choose if they wanna include an easily foolable face unlock.
Until LG ups their software update game (they are absolutely the worst company in that regard, even worse than Motorola), no amount of rebranding and aesthetic overhauling will bring me back to them. And I say that as an ex-superfan of their phones. I love their camera options and the fact that they're keeping the headphone jack alive.
Its been good since 2018 release
I was expecting Jaime would review this for Pocketnow. 😅😂
It is a beauty just wish LG would get away from that notch camera lol
Like with all LG phones, you'll be able to buy it half price in 6 months
About a month ago I bought the LG v50 for $300 , when it first came out last year it was $1000 .
It's got the 855 processor, 6 ram, 128 storage, sd card, water& dust ip68, dual speakers, head phonejack with quad DAC, great screen, 4000 battery and it's got 5g . Never buy LG phones when they first come out just wait and you can get a great deal on a really good phone and the only negative slow software updates.
It's hard for a company to give premium aftersale services (update) when people buy it dirty cheap like low/midrange item
It's bleeding bussiness
I love your review
That stylus compatibility is very interesting, is it compatible with other wacom pens?
I am using a S10 im not a huge fan of the curve and honestly i prefer face id over the in display sensor which is why I do not like the single front camera ill take the notch and face id over full screen id like a back display fingerprint sensor i dont knot build it in to the back glass
1:49 who are they? Please let me know
I got an S20+ and a Velvet.. Much prefer the Samsung..
However im watching on the velvet.
Is this video from 2018?
This looks like an interesting phone, but I'm not sure it's worth the price.
Android Authority said their unit had problems with their unit's performance? Any issues with this unit?
David mentioned to me that he was experiencing some issues. None for mine, though. - JV
@@Pocketnow probably different firmware. Do you have oversharpening issues?
Awesome that color
If I had this phone I'd call it Michiru.
The phone looks great from the back.
Unfortunately, that's it. It's oversized, with an awful curved display and an even worse notch. It's like LG focuses all their attention on the back of the phone and ignored all the rest, using the worst of Android design (curved displays and notches) for the rest of the phone.
Where is the V60 review
will it bootloop?
LG did pixel2xl
Did it bootloop?
Yes once it gets Android 11 software update yes it will 😂👍🏻📱
