The 3a was the first Pixel design by the HTC division purchased by Google. Although HTC had previously been involved in Pixel production, by this time HTC was on life support - and Google bought out the HTC engineering division and tasked them to produce the 3a. Under quarantine from the rest of Google, they came up with this fine little phone. I consider the 3a the last true HTC phone.
I owned a 3a for over 18 months, then passed it to my daughter, who also used it for over 18 months. It never skipped a beat, was reliable, fast and got all the security updates on queue. I agree it's a brilliant handset - Google absolutely nailed it. My next phone was a 4a, which my daughter now has, and I traded up the 3a to a Pixel 7. Google have been on a roll since the Pixel 3 - they've really got their mojo back.
That's funny. I did the same thing. I used mine for about 2 years. I am on the 6a now. I have been so impressed with what they are able 2 do for the price. I do worry that they will stop making pixel phones. Google doesn't have the best track record. Don't know if you have tried them, but the Pixel buds a series are amazing. I don't need anc so the pro wasn't the best option for me. I have been blown away with pixel headphones even.
I had a 3a from May 2019 up until October 2022 when I switched to Pixel 7. Absolutely loved that phone! So good and lasted so long despite most tech reviewers bashing it for having a 60hz screen. I actually miss it and liked it better than the Pixel 7.
I looooooove this phone so damn much. I literally only use my phone for texting, calling and a couple of apps here and there so it’s perfecttttt don’t need anything fancy at all. I use kindle and my old iPod classic for music and reading. This one is a Gem !
Best phone I have ever had. 4 years together and there is nothing I miss. I don't want to switch my dear friend for his new brothers because they seem to have ton of issues my dear 3a simply lack. Still great camera, reasonable speakers, handy size, good software and fast fingerprint reader. True masterpiece and one of my best decisions I have ever made when I decided to buy a phone nobody in my country had as Google gives a sheet about most of the countries.
Still using Pixel 3a since 2019, this beast just doesn't seem to die. Battery backup is still good, camera is still one of the best, display is still at par with recent mid rangers. I am still trying to convince myself to buy a new phone but this device convinces me otherwise always. Let's see how much longer we would stay with each other before I hand it over to my Dad.
I just updated my Pixel 3a for the 7 Pro in November & an convinced on occasions its camera is better than the 7 Pro, absolutely loved that little phone, the only reason I updated was cause of old software & it was getting very slow but fav phone of all time
The 3a was my introduction into the Pixel collection and it converted my son from an iPhone after only using it for a few weeks. We have both now had the 4a series and now we are on the 6 and 7 (non-Pro) versions. I did like the idea of them offering a XL versions in the earlier phones and I wish that was a option with the 6 and 7 tbh. I have seen rumor videos about a 7 mini but I doubt that will happen and I honestly wouldn't do that now that I've committed to the 7. I am super excited about the possible foldable coming into the line up and the Pixel tablet they showed last year.
Your story and mine is almost the same with your son switching from IPhone as mine did also only I let him borrow my p6 while making a claim on his IPhone 13 needles to say he has retired it for a pixel 7pro & says he’ll NEVER GO BACK calling the iPhone a dumb phone 😂 I myself enjoy both iOS & Android but I understand what he means. Thanks for sharing your story it’s much appreciated. 😊
I switched from a 2 XL to a 3a XL for some reason back in 2018 and loved it. It remains the only smartphone I felt comfortable using without a case, due to the materials used and the lower price point. The handfeel of this lightweight but solid device was just that reassuring. Absolutely lovely little allrounder phone that certainly pulled more than its weight. Replaced it with a 4 XL which remains my favorite smartphone of all time, but the 3a certainly comes close, being such a charming little device with its orange power button, sleek white body and very pleasant OLED indeed.
I have bought Pixel 3 this month for my mom..and it' an amazing device. With the update of android 12 it feels very refreshing. Camera still takes great photos.
I used my Pixel 3a for 2 and 1/2 years and it was great. I loved using that phone It was an amazing phone. I always wanted a pixel phone since it came out, but it was out of my price range. But when the 3a came out I finally got to experience the Pixel. I now have the Pixel 7 which I'm loving even more
I had to pixel 3a back in the day. It was the first Pixel phone I got and it was great. I would say the only bummer about it is you could only get it in 64 gigs of storage
Absolutely loved my 3aXL. Upgraded to a 4a then finally the 6a. My family is all in on IOS but I just really like the "A" series from Google. Great phone. I still miss the fingerprint reader on the back. Face unlock is fine on newer devices but still prefer finger unlock on the dedicated sensor. Unlocked before I even look at it, so you can't say it's slower than face unlock. Also love how it acted as a sort of touchpad when you were holding the phone. Could slide notifications down etc.
