I love how they have waited until TUESDAY afternoon, every week, to let us know books are late. Like, no shit!! But thanks for letting us know at the 11th hour, what we already know. EVERYTHING reported in this video is 100% true, and there’s more information given to us since.. and btw, no reassurance that things will be better next week, just “as soon as possible”. Opened an account with Penguin, I’m done.
I can't wait to hear the news that Diamond has shut down. They had a monopoly on distribution for decades and took full advantage of that power to be as insufferable and greedy as they possibly could because 'what are you gonna do about it?'. Good riddance.
Mcs just sold over 18tons of comics for their annual "Booksgiving" event. But, obviously, those were mainly back issues. Point is comics are still in demand. The ones who apparently missed the memo on this are all the mainstream companies.
Same thing happening at my LCS. It's bullshit. They know it's a weekly business and they seem to care less. My LCS used to do their own pickups until distribution centers shut down. It's a shitshow
Our LCS has missed their Diamond books for the past three weeks, sometimes getting them on Wednesday and having to re-do collecting for pull lists as well. Saving Grace is they barely get much via Diamond but it's actually some popular books like Conan. Long before all this we have been hearing Diamond horror stories and you think they be better with actual competition but nope.
@@kelpietales4503 they were late last week, this week and today my LCS told me Diamond already told them next week would be late too. I wish Titan would switch distributors already. Conan books are so consistently arriving damaged that it's become beyond frustrating.
My LCS is the only one in Plattsburgh. They used to be able to pick up their order directly to save on shipping costs. Now they are getting some of their order 1-2 weeks late. Luckily they are also using Lunar or they would be completely screwed.
As long as my comics weren’t damaged that’s what I cared about the most, if a corner was even slightly buffed it would drive me nuts. When I switched to the card stock DC covers I think they were better, I think, I can’t actually remember now haha. At least the card stock covers were much nicer, are they still doing those?
Diamond is a joke. They are also dishonest. They have totally screwed lcs's by grossly inflated shipping prices for years. They dont care about damaged books at all, even though book quality is of utmost importance to the customers of shops.
Boom is moving to PRH in 2025. Diamond is in troubled waters to be sure. I never had a problem with Diamond -- other than the shipping costs -- but I won't miss them either.
So I can add detail here as to why this has become such a issue with Diamond right now. They had a date they were expected to leave the Plattsburgh facility. The owner of the building found a tenant for it sooner then expected and told Diamond they had to get asap. So because of that Diamond has had to try and consolidate to their only warehouse on a faster schedule then planned and obviously was not prepared for that. Hence the reason behind these much more massive problems. This is probably going to make a bunch more retailers consider going to Penguin Random House, since Diamond was allowed to sub-distribute the Marvel product from Penguin Random House. And now that I am a retailer Wes, feel free to reach out if you care to have any discussions on this or other matters in the industry. WTF20.
Z’s Comic shop in South Texas just told me he has not received his Diamond order for today Wednesday. Not only that, he has not been billed for his order, nor have they contacted him to let him know what is going on with his order. This is outside of the damage issues.
Our LCS in Maryland hasn't gotten books on time three weeks in a row now. This week we finally got last week's books...on MONDAY, and it'll be the same again. They said it'll be a few weeks. The reasoning they're saying is they planned on shutting down the Plattsburgh warehouse in January and were month to month leasing in the space when the owner of said space came to them and said they found a permanent tenant and basically bounced them early. So now all diamond stuff is late and comes randomly from the Friday after the regular date to the Monday. I actually only just got Venom War #5 this week. It's so annoying.
Glad Boom finally announced they are leaving now we just need Titan and Dynamite to bail out from this sinking ship and we can finally start to conduct proper business. Too bad Dynamite is so far in bed with Diamond you wont even hear one bad word out of their mouth about them.
Ok. I'll try to be concise...If your an LCS that sells 95% of books available from Lunar or PRH, why continue to use Diamond for your books? Is the odd indie title here an there worth it to your bottom line? just saying....
Tired of Diamond. My LCS hasn’t gotten Marvel in new comic day for three weeks. One week they didn’t get them until the following Monday! I’ve actually started going to another shop that uses Penguin, which sucks because I’m usually loyal to my shop. Maybe this shit will force them to ditch Diamond
I came into my local comic shop today to grab my son's pull list ...The owner of my shop was going through new independent comics with awe he was so upset all the comics were damaged...he was so upset...he cares ...they didn't it fucking sucks
I was at my LCS this morning talking with the owner. He was telling me that Dimond has all the dynamite comics and has not shipped them out yet.
Took me 3 weeks to get books going back to Thanksgiving week. And BOOM! just announced they are leaving Diamond today
As a retailer, I can say 100% that diamond has screwed the pooch. Now, you can't even call them. They are a complete joke.
Diamond are the true dinosaurs!
They sound like shady east coast mafia guys. 😅
My lcs has gotten their books 2 weeks late and is now expecting new books on thursdays. This hurting the small business for sure
My lcs said the Marvel and Indies will be late this week. DC is on time though.

Sad part is, they were actually a GREAT distributor back when they had competition.
It's just depressing how far comics have fallen. I'm depressed already by so much. Still trying to get problems solved.
Mcs just sold over 18tons of comics for their annual "Booksgiving" event. But, obviously, those were mainly back issues. Point is comics are still in demand. The ones who apparently missed the memo on this are all the mainstream companies.
Modern LCS: We cannot provide you with comics you wouldn't read. Our pull list was not made for you.
I just picked up like 4-5 weeks of my pull list from my LCS - I definitely got some damaged titles.
Over here in Vancouver BC, our only Diamond Comics pick up depot was permemtly closed
within the last month.

Anyone remember the days of Up an Coming, lots of retailers liked these guys.
Comic Retailers should stop using Diamond Distributors and all their worries would end
No Space Ghost for me this week. No Dick Tracy last week. Annoying.

I get my stuff shipped to me from Midtown Comics and they are 2 weeks late on books. They just shipped stuff from 2 weeks ago.
Boom is moving to PRH in 2025.
Diamond is in troubled waters to be sure. I never had a problem with Diamond -- other than the shipping costs -- but I won't miss them either.
Geppi’s have 5-6 businesses and some of them are doing well, so they give less of a f*ck on the comic side of things with smaller margins.

100% true and they were stupid enough to admit so in their latest email to retailers. It’s what made us cut bait and say that’s enough!
Z’s Comic shop in South Texas just told me he has not received his Diamond order for today Wednesday. Not only that, he has not been billed for his order, nor have they contacted him to let him know what is going on with his order. This is outside of the damage issues.
Also, Lunar arrives Friday, the week before the Wednesday they hit the shelf!

Diamond is fading away.
So many troubles the comic industry face in these days.
Do these publishers print or just pkg and deliver?
Good video and topic, but there is no way in hell I'm going to hug my LCS guy or give him a "good game."
Heartless bastard
This is what happens when you support a gangsta like Diamond Distributors
Hey remember their slogan from a few years ago.. " our comeback will be bigger than our setback "? Lol
I'm still kicking myself for not buying a shirt!
“Back the Comeback!” .. so glad we did 🙄
Ha… removing access to invoices… 🤡
Basically, they are doing everything they can to destroy the comic book industry
I don't think they distriburate in mine country.
Titles are delayed EVERY WEEK.
Glad Boom finally announced they are leaving now we just need Titan and Dynamite to bail out from this sinking ship and we can finally start to conduct proper business. Too bad Dynamite is so far in bed with Diamond you wont even hear one bad word out of their mouth about them.

Zero sympathy for any shop buying from Diamond.
Diamond has been a shit show for decades! How the industry has lasted this long with Diamond is amazing.
