"Absolute"ly. These series have been PACKED with adventure, and twists have been genuinely surprising. It's a comic book series that acts like a Comic Book Series! Bonkers!
Absolute Universe: I dont like it because DC is putting so much energy into an alternate universe instead of revitalizing characters they dont use. DC has plenty of great characters they dont use. I hate that DC only sees Superman, Batman Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Green Lantern. Add the multiple sidekicks and Batman villains. That's it for DC. DC need to use their different hero's.
@@mr.dccomics9018 well are you buying SHAZAM, Birds Of Prey? Did you get Titans? There’s a Black Canary miniseries rn. There’s a Creature Commandos series, JSA, there was a Poison Ivy one, Penguin … I can name others but DC does try to do other characters, gives them a least minis and even ongoings. Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, have always been solid reads and stable series. So what are you talking about?!
@ComicsForLife2023 I've tried them but I'm talking about putting A list talent on B and C list characters of DC. Like Vixen, Mr. Terrific, Black Lightning, Firestorm, The Spectre, Plastic Man, Blue Beatle, The New God's, Adam Strange, Animal Man. The Sandman Universe, The Black Hawks etc. Expand the DC roster past main seven of the Justice League. That's what I mean, but they keep their best talent on the same characters. So when they run out of ideals they have to turn to the multiverse. It's ridiculous to have 30 different versions of Batman and do nothing with the other hero's of DC.
I think the major problem as I've said before. This thing can only work short term. These Modern takes are not going to draw in the young crowd, parents aren't going to let their kids read these more Hardcore versions of these heroes. And that's who they need to get buying books. Yeah, people our age can drop more money on comics, but that's not how it should be, they should be affordable and accessible to children. That and they are probably going to hot shot their way through this and burn everyone out.
I had this idea for an Absolute Blue Beetle that is based on the Golden Age Blue Beetle (Daniel Garrett), but it changed the story a little bit. It made the formula that he took, Vitamin 2-X, to temporarily turn him into a super-strong super-hero become an addictive drug. Dr. Franz, the scientist who had invented Vitamin 2-X, had used his genius and vast knowledge of chemistry to make the formula in the form of a drink. But he also secretly made it into a narcotic on purpose. So Dan Garrett had taken it but then became hooked on it and he needed to get high on it every day or else he would go through very painful drug withdrawal symptoms. Dr. Franz then told Garrett that he would have to do whatever he had commanded him to do no matter what if he ever wanted the chemical to get super-strong and high again. Dan reluctantly agreed. Dan was given the bulletproof costume of the Blue Beetle by Dr. Franz, and he started to do dirty deeds for him. Later, wanting to try to find out how to make Vitamin 2-X without needing to rely on Dr. Franz, Garrett had tried to spy on him and he found out that there were other scientists who were similar to Dr. Franz who had invented various other formulas that were actually highly addictive stimulants, and who had used them to enslave several other people into their super-human slaves. Among them were Dr. Slade Wilson, who had invented the special adrenaline serum that had mutated his son Joseph Wilson, granting him super-strength, super-speed, and super-fast reflexes. Dr. Ralph Dibny, who had invented the Gingold formula that had empowered his wife Sue Dibny with the super-human physical power of elastic stretching. Dr. Rex Tyler, who had invented the Miraclo formula which gave his son Rick Tyler enhanced strength and speed for approximately 1 hour. And lastly, Dr. Roland Desmond, who had invented the Blockbuster Serum, which transformed his younger brother Mark Desmond into the super-humanly-strong and extremely powerful Blockbuster. The Blue Beetle was able to steal the science journals of each scientist. In each of the books, the detailed notes on how to make the various formulas were written in them. He then copied them and made files for each person who was under their chemical control. He told them that he knows about the secret criminal organization of scientists who are chemists and who are using their extensive experience, and expertise to create their own super-villain team of chemically-dependent professional criminal slaves. Joining forces now that they all don't need to serve their former masters anymore, and able to make their drug-induced super-human powers themselves, Joe Wilson had become Deathstroke, the Terminator, arming himself with a retractable metal bo staff that can fire energy beams. Richard Tyler has become the costumed Hourman, using his Miraclo Formula to become super-powered, but only when necessary as his powers only last exactly 60 minutes. Susan Dibny had become the Elongated Woman, using her power to elastically stretch herself into almost any shape that she can imagine combined with her ability as an excellent detective. Lastly, Mark Desmond has continued to be the very dangerous Blockbuster. But when the members of the secret crime syndicate of evil scientific geniuses had all realized that Blue Beetle, Deathstroke, Hourman, Elongated Woman, and Blockbuster had all become a super-hero team and vowed to become their sworn arch-enemies, Dr. Franz, Slade Wilson, Rex Tyler, Ralph Dibny and Roland Desmond had called upon the mad chemical engineer Professor Norton to combine Vitamin 2-X, the special adrenaline serum, the Miraclo formula, the Gingold formula and the Blockbuster serum into an all-different, all-new, all-powerful compound. This experimental, artificially created, genetically engineered, synthetic plasm had fused, and merged at the genetic and molecular levels, becoming the creature called Chemo. Professor Norton sent Chemo to kill the drug-addicted professional adventurers and costumed crime fighters, and to get their science journals back, and destroy all copies of their work. But the monster Chemo was extremely deadly, killing Prof. Norton and going on a rampage. Chemo was too dangerous, too powerful and too strong. The city was being damaged and destroyed, and it would take the combined efforts of the members of the super-powered beings whose genetic structures had been altered by the chemicals in their bodies to destroy Chemo using a new chemical compound formula taken from each of their combined DNA. The result was a bodywide mutagenic alteration of Chemo's cellular and genetic structures, breaking him back down to his basic chemical component parts. Chemo was finally destroyed, and the surviving criminal scientists had all escaped justice, for now. But at least the Blue Beetle, Deathstroke, Hourman, the Elongated Woman and Blockbuster were able to protect their city and save the lives of all of its denizens. And even better, they still had the means to make the different formulas that give them their powers. Unfortunately, until they can find a cure for their addictions though, they will never be truly free of the chemical dependency that was forced upon them by the people who had invented the drugs in the first place. Until then, they will carry on going off on great adventures and fighting crime, even if every time that they do, they slowly kill themselves in the process. And that would be my story for Absolute Blue Beetle. It's kind of an origin story for a new team but it still mainly revolves around Dan Garrett. And the story is also even very much like a neo-noir in that it has to do with drug-addicted super-beings.

I'm getting tired of rereading their origin stories, can anyone provide me with some hidden gem indie books for me to check out instead.
My prediction is that Absolute Batman will be very sucessful for some time, but Superman is doomed. And the reason is the core mentality behind both. Absolute Superman looks like It was made for people who don't like Superman. It is the same stupid Idea that people seem to have every generation, that Superman is somehow dated and needs to be "updated" for modern times. Batman is very over the top, cheesy and fun. I think it's great, and I also think this is more an example of fans never being happy than bad books. All I hear is constant complaints about how nothing changes, they give us something different, and then fans get angry that it's different. I also don't get the hate that absolute Superman is getting. We have three drastically different Superman books right now, that all provide something different types of stories and tone. My question to fans is what do you want this universe to be? They can make it the same, but then you just have the classics. It's not like any series were cancelled in order to make room for this. If you don't like it, just don't read it. All your main series are still active.
Im actually enjoying it i always wanted wonder woman to have more magic, batman is actually the one I'm not liking i don't like that hes broke now too.
I’ve no idea what’s even going on in these books, I’ve watched reviews but the information has gone in one ear & out the other, I’ve no interest whatsoever. But they seem to be selling well so I think a lot of people are interested, so hopefully some people are enjoying them, I always liked Snyder when I read comics, but hearing stories about him since has turned me off.
Can't speak for Absolute Wonder Woman but I'm very much enjoying the other two, especially Absolute Superman. It's focuses a lot on the sci-fi side of Superman, which I really like. But I get that's not for everyone.
Its very important that you emediatly judge and condemn a series before it has the opportunity to tell an actual story. Otherwise they might do spin offs.
I can’t agree more with you the Wonder Woman art it’s not my thing like I tried to like it but can’t but I do like the story so I’ll keep going until the story starts to go down.but absolute Batman is to fun to drop.and absolute Superman is well ok i guess well the art is definitely good.
My problem is there's no real difference between Wonder Woman from hell and Wonder Woman from Themyscira... The justification for this seems to be "she was so inherently good even before she was born that her upbringing didn't change her" which begs the question, why bother changing the origin story then?
I do love Adam West Batman. Everything was Batshit crazy insane going on around that Batman (even Robins dialogue) and Adam West delivered his lines so straight with serious intensity.
I agree with you about Absolute Superman, but not about Absolute Wonder Woman. I think Absolute Wonder Woman is really good, and actually like it better than Absolute Batman.
After reading two issues of both Batman and Wonder Woman, and one of Superman, I'll say that the best book is Absolute Wonder Woman, despite the wonky art. Absolute Batman may be fun, in a turn-off-your-brain sort of way. And Absolute Superman is absolutely 😎 abysmal.
I'm not interested in anything current Marvel or DC. But I can discuss when I was interested and I have to say I disagree with you Wes on Superman. I always found the Krypton stuff to be the most interesting part of Superman and the Kent family stuff to be boring as hell unless it's the first few seasons of Smallville. I know, I'll go see the Commissar and tender my resignation to The Boss for violation of party doctrine in the usual manner. 😁
I can’t believe it but ABSOLUTE SUPERMAN #2 was pretty good!! It’s Jason Aaron so I’m skeptical he will keep it up but also hopeful he does. ABSOLUTE BATMAN is just silly. Kind of pointless. ABSOLUTE WONDER WOMAN is a case study on anti Christian and anti American WRITING. It’s truly awful.
Gotta say absolute superman issue 2 won me over and I'm eager to see where it might go. (Wonder woman is my favorite of the absolute titles / Batman is second ..that batmobile reveal really hurt my excitement for the title)
Kinda offtopic Mr Thinking critical but I have currently started reading tom king's batman run and I liked the first I am gotham arc, I personally think gotham and gotham girl are good characters and I really liked how batman inspired them and how the whole arc wrapped around psycho pirate and hugo strange, but after that it gets dumb , a lot of stupid moments which made me scratch my head, tom king portrays Batman as a dumb brute who just throws haymakers and swings like an amateur against Bane and his army, this can't be batman he is a master martial artist and a master tactician I didn't get a hint of that with tom king's portrayal, king portrayed him as just some super human guy in a batsuit and even that is inconsistent because in one instance he one shotted grundy who was giving gotham and gotham girl hard time who are somewhere around superman level i guess and then struggle against bane? Is bane supposed to be superman level? i thought Batman's rogues are peak human at best as he is idk it seems like DC writers has no idea how to portray these characters at all. King's portrayal of batman's abilities is absolutely garbage, I was hoping Batman fights like Arkham games batman with gadgets and planning and high combat moves not jump into a base full of 100 soldiers with guns and plow through them like he is Wolverine or something even Wolverine can't do that shit it's so dumb. I honestly don't know if i should continue reading this run or not i liked I am Gotham arc but after that his run is looking foolish so far.
Absolute Batman sucks I cannot see it, do it with Hitman, or Bane as a good guy or anything else, but having “a” cowl, and a semi something in the chest, it’s crap from a guy who has made crap for the past 8 to 11 years
No offense kinda contradicting topic talk about art in other 2 books but always say plot and story when talking about regular books I’m no art critic but some artists art don’t take to my liking scorcie art transformers vs gijoe series not my art style., hate to say it but story and plot make books good not always art I know you agree with it sometimes., Have some books where art is bad everything else is good, art is bad but story and plot is good regardless how predictable and repetitive comics story’s and plot are., Once in while you will get winner like ARAKNIS comic series good art predictable story and plot as other anti hero/ hero comic series kinda different to Spider-Man and spawn but still good., I like absolute series it’s different fans like Thomas Wayne Batman he have guns and kill people and injured people sometimes absolute Batman is kinda same Thomas Wayne Batman elseworld batman without guns on his belt
AB is edge lord with hardly any plot and character substance. It's just ridiculous and repetitively dull. The other 2 have have more story worth their page count and it is more interesting to read. But WW had the worst art.
MARVEL COMICS hard-nosed insistence on CONTINUITY leads it do a multiverse story that is only about ONE OTHER UNIVERSE (i.e., Ultimates universe), with its specific continuity. DC COMICS should not try to repeat this by creating its own Absolute universe. Instead, it should take individual characters and tell a multiverse story from THEIR perspective, like it’s: 1) DARK KNIGHT RETURNS universe 2) KINGDOM COME universe 3) BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN universe 4) ALL-STAR SUPERMAN universe We should have a multiverse universe from Wonder Woman’s perspective!
you really lose your credibility when you and your friends blast comics for taking characters away from their heroic origins, constantly deconstructing them, making them less inspirational, more violent and more cynical...and then get on here and gush over batman not being batman cutting off body parts and melting people with acid, superman not being clark kent, and wonder woman coming from hell.
These are not deconstructions of long-standing characters. These are variant characters that exist in addition to those long-standing characters. These series are basically What If or Elseworlds stories that come out monthly instead of in random One-Shot comics.
@@EyrrllI mean there is a difference between taking in continuity characters and shitting on them and making a new universe with a completely different take on the characters. Not quite the same thing. Lol
@@Neighborhood_spdrman Exactly. These characters are oddball spin-offs that will exist for a while and then go away for a long time (then maybe return someday to refresh a copyright). And the whole time these new titles exist, the normal versions of the characters will still be published, so they do no real damage to the original versions. If Marvel and DC had been smart, they would have tried something like this 10 years ago, rather than just start systematically screwing up their primary characters in their own ongoing books.
@Eyrrll Honestly at this point...i would have preferred they keep the new 52 and morph it more over the years into its own totally different thing from the main continuity.

My question to fans is what do you want this universe to be? They can make it the same, but then you just have the classics. It's not like any series were cancelled in order to make room for this. If you don't like it, just don't read it. All your main series are still active.
I think both WW and SM will pop off.
I decided to not pick up Absolute Batman singles. Maybe I’ll get Absolute Absolute Batman
and the trade will be half the price of floppies.
Damn this Dust cape if only it could help me!
Im actually enjoying it i always wanted wonder woman to have more magic, batman is actually the one I'm not liking i don't like that hes broke now too.
Yes. I enjoy them very much. I'm not 100% sold on superman, but I'm not willing to write the book off either.
@ What do you mean by the “sci-fi side of Superman”? Do you mean it has Krypton tech in the story, that kind of thing?
Amazing absolute superman 2!!
If you want to read Wonder Woman from hell, just read Spawn, at least the art is good.
Scorched would be a better call but ya basically
My problem is there's no real difference between Wonder Woman from hell and Wonder Woman from Themyscira... The justification for this seems to be "she was so inherently good even before she was born that her upbringing didn't change her" which begs the question, why bother changing the origin story then?
@@jbbrolic The reason for changing the origin story is because the new line requires it, they just couldn't come up with one.
@ I mean… you do have to take into consideration who’s writing it… can’t really expect too much lol
@@jbbrolic Nature over nurture then?
I'd say they're all pretty terrible. And while we think Absolute Batman is a parody, it seems like Scott legitimately thinks it's unironically badass.
I do love Adam West Batman. Everything was Batshit crazy insane going on around that Batman (even Robins dialogue) and Adam West delivered his lines so straight with serious intensity.
I agree with you about Absolute Superman, but not about Absolute Wonder Woman. I think Absolute Wonder Woman is really good, and actually like it better than Absolute Batman.
im the same on krypton its the radioactive spider it bites and gets slapped move on
It wasn't good with the first issues.
Short answer: NO!
Absolute Superman was absolutely boring. One issue was enough for me.
I'm loving everything about Absolute Superman so far. This is how ya do an alternate take.
I didn't like absolute batman it is aweful imho
Jim said what I said about the Kents: you need them in Superman's lore
So not interested.
You be back when they do Kaiju Batman!
King's portrayal of batman's abilities is absolutely garbage,
I was hoping Batman fights like Arkham games batman with gadgets and planning and high combat moves not jump into a base full of 100 soldiers with guns and plow through them like he is Wolverine or something even Wolverine can't do that shit it's so dumb. I honestly don't know if i should continue reading this run or not i liked I am Gotham arc but after that his run is looking foolish so far.
Don't really care for Absolute WW. The idea of her in hell, fighting gigantic monsters and odd artwork are all turnoffs for me.
Absolute Batman sucks I cannot see it, do it with Hitman, or Bane as a good guy or anything else, but having “a” cowl, and a semi something in the chest, it’s crap from a guy who has made crap for the past 8 to 11 years
No offense kinda contradicting topic talk about art in other 2 books but always say plot and story when talking about regular books I’m no art critic but some artists art don’t take to my liking scorcie art transformers vs gijoe series not my art style., hate to say it but story and plot make books good not always art I know you agree with it sometimes.,
Have some books where art is bad everything else is good, art is bad but story and plot is good regardless how predictable and repetitive comics story’s and plot are.,
Once in while you will get winner like ARAKNIS comic series good art predictable story and plot as other anti hero/ hero comic series kinda different to Spider-Man and spawn but still good.,
I like absolute series it’s different fans like Thomas Wayne Batman he have guns and kill people and injured people sometimes absolute Batman is kinda same Thomas Wayne Batman elseworld batman without guns on his belt
This is the sickest comic reading in years. We are blessed to have Absolute and Ultimates.
Instead, it should take individual characters and tell a multiverse story from THEIR perspective, like it’s:
1) DARK KNIGHT RETURNS universe
2) KINGDOM COME universe
3) BATMAN: THE LONG HALLOWEEN universe
4) ALL-STAR SUPERMAN universe
We should have a multiverse universe from Wonder Woman’s perspective!
Those are all good old books ( I read the past couple of years). Can anyone do the continuations of that good old any justice in today's day?
I think the Absolute books so far have been better than expected.
you really lose your credibility when you and your friends blast comics for taking characters away from their heroic origins, constantly deconstructing them, making them less inspirational, more violent and more cynical...and then get on here and gush over batman not being batman cutting off body parts and melting people with acid, superman not being clark kent, and wonder woman coming from hell.
These are not deconstructions of long-standing characters. These are variant characters that exist in addition to those long-standing characters.
These series are basically What If or Elseworlds stories that come out monthly instead of in random One-Shot comics.
He already lost it after defending Grant Morrison with his Damian self-insert.
Chill bro, it’s only been two months lmao
I'm gonna guess Wes and Hatey-Jim won't be giving Absolute Supes much love.
