what I really liked about the police in this game(despite them being really slow) and MC LA is that they don't chase you right away. It goes into a "pull over" phase and if you continue evading arrest then they initiate a pursuit.
yep. the game even had the feature where you could pull over and pay the fine and be on your way.
One thing I liked a little more about MC: LA is that there was animations for paying the ticket/getting a warning and then totally different animations for getting arrested. I also LOVED that you could pretend to pull over, get that sweet angle from the Cop's dashcam, wait for him to get right up to window and then speed off. And it was 100% player controlled, you don't have to wait for the cop to step up to the car, you can take off at any point of the animation and there's a unique 'cop running back to his car' animation. Loved those little details.
What happens if u pull over
@@darkskull8938 you can pay the fine out of your SP and the cops will let you go
I like these cops 10 times better than Heat
Sure they're slow but they can get a bit challenging and if you learn the map you can have some fun with them
Meanwile in Heat, I pass a cop at 250 km/h and he catches up to me before the next intersection and slams into the back of my car going 300km/h, and then after 3 minutes of constant rear ending my car is destroyed and that's it....
I'd rather have slow but fun cops than impossibly fast kamikaze cops

Man, even the cop's chatter is so realistic! I love the old Need For Speed games, not "Old is Gold", it's "Old is DIAMOND"!
If this is raw footage, then they were really clever with the slight green tint on the coloring. This is what our eyes also feel in real life. Green is the most received color in the spectrum of the human eye and adds more realism to a game. So many games go with 100% RGB in all spectrums, giving us a more "vibrant" feeling of the virtual world, but it doesn't feel realistic.
Edit: No, i'm not saying that you can add a green tint to anything and it becomes realistic... It works really well in this clip at most of the places. Some other spots it becomes a bit too much, but the whole clip generally gives a very natural color feeling because of the color grading choice, which happens to be a slight green towards blue tint in this case. This goes mostly for concrete cities with fluorescing lights and street lights with certain types of bulbs (which is pretty much the scenario in this clip). If you did the same to a forest scenario, it wouldn't be the same. But for street lights and nighttime in a city, this color grading looks excellent. Is it done perfect? Nope. Certain things should not be affected, like the sky (obviously), so you can't just "add green" to the whole picture. Lighting has been the biggest challenge in PC gaming for decades, just look how happy people are with ray tracing that basically does the work for them, and reason being that doing it manually takes a LOT of effort and work.

@@hansolo631 It's not as glamorous as it looks. Yes, the puddle reflections look good, but it's ultimately a cheap trick to add more reflections to the game (because reflections = eye candy). 8 years old and it still looks better than the ones that came after it, Ghost cooked with the visuals in this game
Cops: "you really thing you're gonna get away with stunting out here?"
There's a reason I still come back to it, ghost absolutely nailed the graphics using the frostbite engine, released in 2015 and it looked this good 💙
I thought that later Need For Speed games made by Ghost Games, such as Need For Speed Payback & Need For Speed Heat, even Need For Speed Unbound made by Criterion Games, all those three games were made on the Frostbite engine as well as Need For Speed 2015. So, what makes 2015 so special in terms of graphics and visuals? It wasn't rushed? Ghost Games wanted this game to stand out than the rest for some reason? I don't know.
@@shadowv6794 I think the fact that it wasn't rushed was huge part of it, and ghost wanted to see what they could do with frostbite for NFS and had the time to push the envelope. It has plenty of bugs at launch but frostbite almost always does lol but they had continued support for the game, heat was a mess when it comes to the developer, that was mostly ghost then criterion, which is why it didn't get really any significant updates. Payback I'm not honestly sure, I played it a few days and the physics felt way off and the style of gameplay and general vibe didn't appeal to me.

It had its good details and was the mpst down to earth ghost made NFS, but there were so many other things that I didn't like about it despite it being one of the few games I decided to get Platinum on
Getting platinum wasn't that hard honestly.. but i loved this game and thinking it is almost 10 years old... if not for the strange drifting physics (counting that you were basically drifting 90% of the times you were taking a turn) it was pretty good, mods were good, i loved the livery editor, i also liked the updates and the story was cheesy but still pretty good! Heat and payback didn't have the same realistic passion for cars.
NFS 2015 was a for car lovers
@crilauriola yeah, the Plat wasent hard, I only had trouble with mental unblock I think it was called. The physics is the only thing I had issues with cauz trying to do 100% grip was goofy to say the least. I honestly found running stock tires was the best option in most cases
Coming from Heat and Unbound, there are definitely things they did in the newer games that this older title lacks. The handling is definitely worse, no fast travel to different garages, no sat nav marker except to map icons, no higher heat higher money/rep rewards. Always online and real players crashing into you during campaign races gets annoying fast, not to mention the non-stop phone calls. Though I appreciate the cheesy live-action cutscenes (they even combine shots with your in-game car). And the lighting feels more photorealistic.
@jamesguy926 I honestly didn't think much about the phone calls, and I never had much of an issue with other players when trying to do campaign even in 2015 cauz most where stuck online doing playlists cauz the only way to get out was closing the game back then 😂

This game was poorly recieved mostly due to EA practices such as among other things always having to be online to play it (on release, not sure about it now) and not offering a manual option (later it got patched). Nobody argued that the gameplay would be bad. Same with payback. That got ruined by microtransactions. Heat got so well recieved because it had the gameplay of NFS15 and Payback without the bullshit practices from EA.
Finally some NFS critics with a working brain and common sense. Also the release timeline didn't help. People back then didn't have the eye to notice the gorgeous graphics and little details. If Unbound had the graphics and atmosphere alongside the particle effects of NFS16, the game would've been so well received despite those garbage anime shit.
@@ray4493 Not to burst your bubble but Unbound has been pretty well received. Received way better than almost all modern NFS games aside from arguably Heat. I just don’t think it's sold particularly amazing because EA barely marketed the game outside of like 3 Trailers. And the anime effects really make the game stand out a lot more from previous NFS titles and just in general other Racing titles.
Payback was Not dogshit it just wasn't good. Heat well is a mix of both and that makes it good, not perfect not bad at all but good. I don't think there will be another NFS like this one. If Criterion continues with Unbound's recipe..
Heat got ruined from EA quickly abandoning it and killing off Ghost Games resulted in Heat only getting like 2 big Updates with 2 new cars and that was it. Compared to other racing games like Forza Horizon 4 at the time where it was still receiving post launch support. Payback was just EA being EA. And then 2015 where the Physics were awful, always online like Rivals, terrible cops, very mid campaign, and just a meh City with nothing really that memorable in it (combined that it's always Night time and no Day and Night Cycle). Just led NFS 2015 being a very mediocre experience as a NFS title.
Heat just like unbound are only well received because the previous games were bad and aren't hard to make something less bad but mediocre.
