The basics of life is Food, Water, and Shelter (clothes and housing), clean air. Those are the ONLY things we need to focus on,,, how to cook without polluting.

We have 'allotments' in the UK. Space set aside for seperate lots people grow their own food in. That goes back a long way before the Garden Cities. In the war we were urged to dig for victory. These are all across the country. A fair few are now built on because of the shortage of housing. I urge you to research this. As you say the US has far more land than the UK.

Most needed now and for any kind of future - INSPIRATION. Thank you for your efforts and I hope that these and more stories are taken up, enjoyed and acted upon.

The engine driving the ecological and climate existential predicaments is social - capital accumulation - which is the dynamic of wage-labour and capital. There is no path out unless this social system is entirely abolished.

Radical transition is essential, and is coming. We seem to be a species that learns by catastrophe (or not)

Children understand the terrible world their parents and grandparents have left them! and they are ones Desperately trying to educate and convince their parents and grandparents to embrace a sustainable lifestyle, many of the parents and grandparents don't realise when it gets bad and it will we are simply not meeting the changes necessary to prevent the worst possible scenario, it's their pension pots that will have to be tapped and used to pay for their damage! mitigation, adaption and cost of it all because what you have left the next generation is poverty

WRT getting stories like "Dark Heat" adapted into movies/series, keep an eye on SORA. It's an AI that can generate amazing photo-realistic video from prompts. Right now, the videos are short, but I'd guess that within a year or so, it will be possible to feed it the book and have it churn out a movie. He could probably do it now by stringing multiple short videos together.

Growing your own food is not a small thing. It takes a lot of time and effort and without experience you won’t be good at doing it. Try it. You’ll be surprised.

We have tried it and agree with you that it takes know how. But people have done it in the past ,as we mentioned, with victory gardens, etc. It also increases respect for the food we have, a third of which is now wasted and going into landfills where it produces methane. In any event, getting the perticides and fertilizers that come with lawns out the environment would definitely be for the environment in many ways. Thanks for your comment

I still like my books! Take care of them and pass them on. The solutions to the future are written in the past, to live simpler lives. Living cheap isn't easy, takes effort,,, but is a much more satisfying lifestyle.

Very inspiring work. May I suggest that you look to the indigenous population for inspiration. We do have the stories and the heroes. Dr Lyla June Johnston is living and sharing her journey now. Peace & Love for our mother Earth y'all.

BEER WARS. Soon society realizes the only thing that matters. Waking up (it’s good for breakfast) and getting drunk-see ocean temperatures that will disrupt agricultural systems to sweep grocery stores bone dry.

In the dictatorship of North Korea, men get given beer tokens, toxic, carcinogenic, chemically depressing ethanol (alcohol). Keeping men addicted keeps them subservient.

First ask young people what they want. Then ask them to devise plans to get out of this crisis we've created for them. Then help them put their plans into operation. It needs to be community to country wide in every major nation on Earth. Good luck with that, but it's the only way. While Biden, Blinken, Sunak, Putin, Xi Xinping, Macron and van de leyan run things on behalf of the super super rich life is finished. Might not be a bad thing come to think of it.

I have mentioned some arguments against encouraging hope of living on other planets AND about any advanced A.I.s doing anything to help people-primates (SOL-III's villains) instead of just leaving Earth without us - in some of my own past online posts already.
Did you folks notice your own "thinking-INSIDE-the-box" limitations when considering what would be crucial in relation to advancing various themes as "the right stories" that are extremely important to reach more of the younger-generations with?!? You discuss Netflix, funding and such, as if you had to do things the same way as promoting a sitcom?!?
"Facing Future," and/or "Climate Emergency Forum," what if I told you that what you guys talk about, with whatever experts you might want to still keep inviting-on as being level to your own paradigms, still falls under "shallow ecology," and not "deep ecology," would you then choose to dedicate an episode with myself being your guest, so that you could "walk-the-talk" of your own convictions (congruence) as I try to bring you up-to-speed in modernity-relevant paradigms by pushing through your "HsD?"
Do you read the few comments that are posted here, with you videos, and how do you explain that, even when people respond in ways that will not "trigger you" and that shows their paradigm-levels are similar to yours, that you still respond with so few words?!?
Are you unable/unwilling to look for, acknowledge, or invite, those that would explain things about "the human-condition" with immensely more unorthodox, but accurate, lenses?!?
It is CRUCIAL that you explain your own limitations at this time?!?
Again, I offer myself to you here, and I wish to focus on discussing the ONLY kind of stories and themes that would make a difference at this late of the stage of The Anthropocene!?!
If "humanity" is on trial for this Anthropocene right now, and it sought defenders for its arguments to its uses to the Biosphere, could YOU find the time, and courage, in order to defend it - if I disagreed with some of your priorities and focus in our discussions?!?
    Professor-Marty.

Noted that Paul reads Canada’s right wing newspaper. If you’re a climate scientist wanting a future, it doesn’t make any sense to be endorsing anything other than left wing politics.

Reading a paper does not means you agree. Paul, to his credit, reads widely and his understanding of the situation we're in is evident.

@@FacingFuture He absolutely knows the problems and talks about many good solutions like MEER and Marine Cloud Brightening. But he doesn’t talk about degrowth. Which is essential. The right solutions in the wrong economic system won’t help.
