Than you for this! I had a problem with my bike being in neutral and when kick starting once the bike started running it would shift into gear with no input. I watched this video and while mine turned out to be ok, I noticed the shift lock mechanism (that silver arm with roller) was missing the washer and spacer behind it so it was able to move around a bit. I’m HOPING this is my issue.
Happened to my 2008 KTM 200 exc stuck in first, when on a ride a long way from the trailer in the middle of nowhere.Drained the oil into a container, put the drain plug back in;drained a litre of petrol into a drink bottle poured that into the gearbox, rocked the bike back and forth while a mate used the gearshifter and a minute later the grit or whatever that was stopping the ratchet from working washed out and drained the fuel out,oil back in;didn't have to ride for 3 hours back to the trailer in first gear.Maybe give it a try before doing the proper fix.
mines a forza 140cc fully stuck in 3rd gear, tried to go back down t neutral but wont down or upshift at all, would your solution have any fix on my problem?
I’ve got a problem where my bike will shift 1st-2th and get stuck in the up position and I’ve have to tap it down slightly by just bumping it down and shifting it then bumping it back down over and over through out 3rd-6th gear Any ideas on what could fix it or could be the problem
I got a 2011 ktm 150 same bottom ends I have just replaced the shift mech and now I am finding false neutrals between 3/4/5 the bike will go into gear and lock nicely bench shifted beautifully but won’t full shift while riding or even off now, the lever becomes notchy it will travel up then it binds as such and jumps before actually locating the gears
@@Tizzy_p If the shift shaft is moving freely you're probably looking at shift fork issues, or rounded dogs on the gears. Unfortunately if the shift shaft moves freely you're next step is splitting the cases to see what is going on.

Any idea if the 125 Honda Grom is similar? I just rebuilt the clutch and put it all back together and it still won’t shift into any gear. The chain was loose, but I fixed that. I was going to pop the crank shaft cover next. Good video.
Yes, it has something similar. If you're moving the sprocket and it's still not shifting into gear, you'll need to pull the side cover and find out why.
Bike shifts fine sometimes when off, but feels like shifter gets stuck and won’t go up past 2nd when on . Won’t shift up at all when trying to engage , also bike revs out and produces no power , seems like clutch is sticking and reving out
Hi, i have the same model and year and i just rebuilt my motor. Mine shifts every gear like it should but it takes a lot of force to turn the shift drum. And im wondering if thats a problem with the shift mechanism or the transmission. I really have no clue what to do.
I got a 15 te300 Today while riding, I got stuck in 4th and couldn’t down shift while riding. I could up shift into 5th and 6th but couldn’t go down to lower gears..made it back to staging area. Shifter lever doesn’t feel like it engages every time and feels loose like there’s no spring. But if you rock the bike forward and backward while doing it you can get it to engage and shift through all the gears but the shifter still feels loose and doesn’t feel like it has a spring to return it to its natural state. Whatever gear you are in, it runs smooth and if you can get it to shift it will shift and hold in that gear. It’s almost like I push down to down shift and it will downshift once, but then the shifter lever doesn’t return up to its natural position so that you can then shift into the next gear it just stays down...so when doing it by hand and going through the gears rocking the bike back and fourth you can manually push the lever down to down shift, and then manually pull it back up before you can get it to engage again to down shift again. I think this is why I got stuck and couldn’t down shift because the lever was resting in a downward position disengaged from the shift drum maybe? Any tips and info would be amazing! Thanks
Carter Kendall there are springs that center the shifter. You can see them if you pull the clutch cover side off. You don't have to spit the cases just pull the right side clutch cover and clutch inner cover and your answers will be there. Not a big deal and shouldn't be a hard repair.

Question. On a 2017 sxf 450. Bike runs fine. It’s stuck in neutral. The lever moves up and down, it won’t click into gear. The rear wheel isn’t locked up and motor runs. What could this be? Same issue you had here?
It could be, pull the right side cover and move the shifter, you should see the actuator moving the shift star. If it is and still not shifting, you'll have to look further into the transmission.
Whassup Tepco. Im having the same problem on an Apollo 125 pit bike. When I pulled the clutch cover off, that same exact spring loaded piece that was stuck in your video fell out onto the floor. Any suggestions?
I am having a problem with shifting into and out of gear on a 200 exc. Sometimes it shifts fine, some times the gear wont fully engage and it is like it is in neutral but it is in between any gear, not just 1st and 2nd. I have tried checked to see if the clutch is slipping or any other clutch related issue. The problem is easily recreated with the clutch removed. I just had the cases apart for a full revamp of the motor and trans. It has worked perfectly for 15-20 hours. Please help with any experience or info.
This is usually caused by a bent shift fork not pushing the gears all the way over so the dogs don't engage. It will spin freely like it's in neutral. If it shifts into gear then pops out, that can bend them and could also be a sign of worn engagement dogs. Unfortunately you have to split the cases to figure it out.
If it's pops out if gear, that means either #1. The forks are bent, not pushing it all the way in or #2. The dogs.on the gears are worn so it's unable to stay in gear. I think #2 is more likely and I would plan on splitting the cases and replacing some gears.

Your clutch plates are sticking. With it off put it in gear and roll it backwards and forward with the clutch out to see if it frees up. If not, you'll need to pull the clutch cover off and separate and clean the clutch steels.
Or if you're saying you can put it into gear with the clutch in and it bogs when you try to let the clutch out, then it's still a carb problem. I would check your carb settings.
Definitely not the same, could be many things. I would say watch a few videos and split it open! That's the fun of it and you'll only learn more then you know now.
Jordan Costelloe I'm going to say probably not but it would be worth a check. See, if it won't shift up or down, both would have to be stuck which would be unlikely.
