I craft around the house, so I talked my husband into replacing our aging CFLs with daylight LEDs: the difference in light, especially at night, is amazing.

My tip is using an IKEA Variera pot lid organizer to organize my tools. It expands and fits in my Kallax shelf. On it, I store my stamp platforms, Fiskars trimmer, Tonic mini trimmer and my WRMK envelope maker.
I hope this inspires someone. Xx Lorraine

    1. I still use some cardboard boxes, because I can cover them with the craftpaper of my own choice. Love that.
    2. Alex drawers are great. There is another company on Wayfair called. . .now I can't remember. Look under storage and organization. Cheaper and it DOESN'T HAVE TO BE WHITE!! Mine are pine, same dimensions as Alex drawers and I love that!!
    3. If you do have those slidey drawers like Simon, there are fabric shoebox type boxes I got off Amazon ($12 for 4) that are the same size as the clear Interdesign boxes for stamps. Since I don't move them off the drawer, they work great.
    4. Stamp-nStorage is an amazing company of great people. Everyone should shop there.
    5. We should have a giant crafty exchange/swap once a year on Simon Hurley Create

Hey Simon! Great video EXCEPT for those of us who don’t have the luxury of a craft room. :) I have a few small spaces in about 4 rooms including the dining room ...where the Christmas tree is SUPPOSED to go soon. To add to the mess, we snowbird, so many of my supplies have to travel 1500 miles back and forth. I see by comments I am not alone. Perhaps you could give us a note to take home saying we REALLY need a decent craft room? :)

I have the things I use all the time organized in my large roller bag. Things I don’t use as often are in a file cabinet and paper holders in a closer. I can craft on the dining room table or kitchen table.

Three years ago I bought myself a craft cupboard that I love. It can light up and I can even work at 2 AM (done it many times!) My hint for organising is to factor in five minutes at the end of your session - and put everything back where it belongs. That way you remember where things live and are all clean and tidy for your next crafting session

I feel like my craft room is always evolving. Just when I think I have it right, another storage idea comes up that will make me more productive and inspired to actually make things rather than going through my supplies, searching for the right paper or embellishments, etc. I just ordered a 5-drawer storage unit to put my lesser used things in, so I can have my go-to stuff closer to my desk on my big book shelf. And great idea to purge! Something we don't use could be someone else's favorite! 😊👍🏼

👍👍 So true, organization is key! I appreciate your suggestion about drawers which can keep supplies easily accessible though I do not have that luxury currently.. However, I do have my supplies conveniently within reach so that I do not have to keep moving about to get them in hand (especially helpful since I am disabled & wheelchair-dependant). Ah, for a craft room instead of a corner. Enjoy! 😊

My number (1) rule: I take inventory once a year. If, I haven’t used something within that year I will donate or get rid of it.

I like to make sure that all my tools and supplies are visible so that when I need something to do the job I can look around my craft space and go yeah that tool would do it. To facilitate this I have glass top desks so that I can look down into the drawers under the desk top. If it's not visible I forget I have it and I don't use it.

20+ years scrapbooking=MANY Creative Memories tools and all kinds of 12x12 paper/stickers/borders/embellishments. Kallex shelves from IKEA are awesome for storage. I hate to get rid of anything because I MIGHT NEED IT someday😂🙄🤷🏼‍♀️ Now I NEED Simon’s foam stamp blocks, but he’s sold out😩. I’m on a waiting list, but...I REALLY WANT SOME OF THEM!!! Please Simon?😬

I am with you: I craft all over the house, using a small table and four color task lamp set to daylight. The dining room is my favorite because I had my husband change out the ceiling fan bulbs to daylight LEDs. It is where my craft supplies are temporarily housed while I reorganize our pantry storage. 😁

Cardstock in magazine holders can also stay completely flat - partly depends on the orientation - whether horizontal or vertical. Jennifer McGuire’s system was my starting point. Years later cardstock is flat.
So agree about too much stuff paralyzes me!

Simon, I didn't know where else to add this. WISH.com is selling a few of your stamps from a company that looks like it's from China. You might want to check it out....it does have your name on the package but as to whether or not you gave permission is another thing.

First thing: I notice the beginnings of a beard, Simon. I think a beard might be nice on you.
I love IKEA storage. Mindful of our space, I chose 13x13 flat (3" or so) Options bins and Sterilite document sized bins (the ones Sterilite appears to have discontinued) in multiple heights--I have several craft lines, LOL, and like my supplies to be mobile. My immediate project/goal is reducing and reorganizing my desk space and pantry so I can move my papercraft supplies and workspace out of our dining room. Every day I get closer. 😁

I was once told always to store ink pads horizontally. It made sense so I do. Is it a myth? As a result of these videos (do we still call them that? 😁), I am a faithful Simon Hurley ink follower. Maybe different inks are different?
