You are the first one to say the truth about putting.I became a good golfer only because I started to use the wrists in putting.Everybody tries to brainwash us with : " never use the wrists while putting".This is an enormous b.s ! Thank you Bobby for have said , finally, a truth that nobody wants admit
Yes, it’s tough to overcome such age old advice, isn’t it? If you hear it often enough - keep your head down, straighten your left arm, load the right leg - it becomes something a person is closed minded to seeing another way.
Thanks for what you say!
Many more amateur golfers should watch this lesson. A truly great putting lesson. 👍👍👍
Thank you for saying so!
Bobby u made my day..thx..Don from Ontario 👍
@@golfhead2169 Don, I can’t hear enough of that, thank you for being with me!
Bobby Jones was one of the greatest putters of all time and putted with a lot of wrist action.
@@quicksilver2510 you said it! Somehow it’s become a sloppy, unsophisticated way to putt. Whatever gets it in the hole.
Man, the more Bobby Steiner videos I watch, the more I respect his teaching. This guy is a golf teaching genius! I'm one of the 'been trying to keep hands out of the stroke' putters. And it really messes with me. I'm going to use Bobby's advice and let my natural stroke come out. Thank you Bobby Steiner! You 'da man!
Yoohoo, you’re too nice, but I’m glad you’re getting something out of my videos. I hope it keeps up, and your game is great!
Bobby, excellent advice to all weekend warriors ( including me) . Hopefully it will penetrate the bone & muscle curtains of our minds as we chase the crooked shadow of success in other spheres too.
Thank you, Ashok. You are probably onto somewhere. It’s likely not just a wrist putting thing. Have a great weekend!
This wisdom applies to the golf swing as well.
I agree with you completely!
I tried today to use my wrists only, and I am putting better than ever - great natural feeling, distance control and much more short putts are falling !
I’m overjoyed to hear it!
Bobby, well explained the trials & tribulations of the weekend warriors. Use wrists in putting is sane advice.
Glad to hear you say so!
You're absolutely right, Bobby Jones was a wristy putter, Sam Snead and many other legends. Find what works for you and develop it further.
Thanks this morning I went to practice my putting and I did just what your saying I holed many 15 footers and actually heard a click when making contact I will keep doing this it certainly can’t hurt 😅
Wonderful, I'm so glad it helped!
I couldnt agree more! Great video
Thank you much!
Awesome thank you for the clarification. I’ve gone down this rabbit hole wrists versus no wrists. I’ve come to realize that I am a wrist oriented putter and you know what screw it. I’m going to embrace it!
Ned, I know what you mean. Trying to walk the line between what’s natural and what others say you’re supposed to do. I’m glad to know the shackles are off!
Yes, I let my wrist loose and I put better Very good video
Thank you, so glad to hear!
Being a wristy putter is good, its our connection to the club head. Without some small wrist movement, you can't possibly tell where the head of the putter is. Go wristy!
Amen!
always used a pendulum stroke but was so inconsistent. sometimes great results, other times horrible. so much margin for error. switched to a pop stroke (all wrist) and my putting has never been better or more consistent. had to work on speed the most, however I don't play on greens that are PGA fast. this is kind of like a Snedeker, Palmer, Nicholas stroke. it's so simple and it only took a few days to get it down. Bobby makes some great points, especially how the pros spend sooo much time on their stroke. and they have bad days as well.
I’m with you on that. It’s amazing how reliable a wrists stroke can be if a person adopts it confidently.
Smart observation 👌..Stressdr
Thank you!
Changed to using only the wrist. Never rolled the ball better.
I've always been a wrist putter, and putting is the only part of my game that is pro level. Up until fifty years ago most of the outstanding pro putters were wrist putters: Billy Casper, Jerry Barber, Bob Rosburg, Arnold Palmer and many others didn't moved their arms except on long putts. In the 1970s the odd notion caught on that wrist movement isn't as reliable as shoulder movement.
I think you have the right idea about using the wrists. Lots of great players used plenty of wrist action, as you point out, and did so without anybody stigmatizing it. Whatever is required to get that ball in the hole! I hope you're enjoying lots of golf!
👍
Why try to do something you haven't trained yourself to do? Understand the meaning of natural and what the meaning is to you! Great vid!
Thank you for saying so!
