Look how little Houston was he is just so cute he sure has grown in to such a handsome young man and six years later he still says let go fishing !!! 😂🥰❤️🙏🏼
Thank you Mr. Arms for being a humane farmer. You actually allow your hens to raise their own chicks. This way the chicks KNOW they have a mother. I love when they cling to her for warmth and LOVE. I stopped watching P. Alan SMith because he bought box loads of chickens then removed the eggs from the hens. That is so cruel! Who made him God.? My grandmother used to have turkeys, ducks and hens raising babies so I learned to love REAL NATURE and not the artificial method that television host promotes. But you are my kind of farmer .... THANK YOU! I loved watching your video. Keep it up.
I enjoyed watching this video immensely! Why, bcz i'm dreaming of having my own a chicken with its chicks in tow! Just a couple of days ago, i discovered that one of my just two chickens which was brooding, has eaten six of the eggs out of the fourteen! The rest of the eggs didn't hatch but i found two chicks that didn't completely hatch. I was so disappointed bcz i was hoping that finally my dream will become a reality of raising a hen with her own chicks. Anyways, my other hen has laid 17 eggs already and i'm hoping she'll be successful in making those eggs hatch, even at least two or three chicks. I'll be so happy by then! Thank you, Sir, and Houston, for sharing this video!
OMG I was looking at my tv and when I herd the fast forward with the goats I had to look at it again it was not a fail it was awsome it was so funny I had tears from my eyes all your videos are great like clearing the trails fast forward and talking is funny I like them all keep safe and happy
Those chicks are just adorable. Those goats are funny, can't trick them. I bet they'll find the clover eventually. Ahh, yes Spring is in the air, love it!!
I want to raise my kids like this on a farm than in a big city. It's nice to see your little one play in the open with animals. So much better than poking at the screen all the time like they do in the cities ..
If you want to grow your veg fester, get yourself a big plastic drum, make a small hole on the side 3 fingers from the bottom, fill the drum with scrap food, manure, etc, put a bucket of water on top and let it drain in the bucket below, use the dirty water to fertilize your plants.
We have used a deer fence ( from Home Depot ) for years. It has worked really well for us. The only problem is it tears really easy. So depending on the wind, we have to change it about every 2 years. Don't mess with her babies LOL.
The wire fence has too large squares. Add chicken wire to it so the chicks can't run through the large openings. Just an idea. You have a beautiful property.
Little man is so cool. We get a kick out of him. Got Miss Apryl a chicken coop and run built last week. I got feeders and nesting boxes left and then we'll have chickens.
looks like your boots could do with some water proofing here is a good recipe: 16oz of natural beeswax, 8oz boiled linseed oil, 8oz turpentine you will find your boots will last a good length of time trust me! hope that tip helps
New subscriber here.... Just a bit of advice with your chickens..... if you hold them upside down by their legs, which does NOT hurt them, they will go into a calm, quiet state..... until you put them back down. ;)
no she does , this breed has that issue , really , I got all proof of those hens here at my homestead and they even leave their kids behind while just going up to a tree ! no matter how long the chicks are getting cold !
Vicky Victoria Jolina Modelling Iliaens. Yes I agree with you it's not an instinct to get predator's away from the nest they are just flighty. I've had the Silver Phoenix as well as Game Hens and some are more flighty than others.
i am in central oklahoma near noble. just incubated eggs. 18 out of 23 hatched.... had 36 but some werent fertile i guess. bought them from my eating egg supplier. he only had one rooster for about 20 hens lol. hes a busy roo
When my Cuckoo Maran went broody, I had to use driving gloves in order to collect the eggs. Once I put some eggs underneath her, allowed her to hatch and raise her own flock. She never went broody ever again. The chicks she hatch still treated her as a mom even when they were well into their 4th year of life.
When you taking a hen from the eggs, you must grab it by it back and just pull it up from the eggs. That way it can't bite and that is the best way to put it down to eggs and it young again
I would like to see you find a milkman and get a few milk crates from him they make the best nest you will ever find I was a milkman for 16 years and I had people ask all the time for them.
Yes letting hens or any chicken eat egg shells is good for them but if it still looks anything like a egg then you run the risk of creating the habit of them eating their own eggs which is very hard to break them of it better to crush any use eggs shells up before feeding them to your birds or give them assess to shell grit which is usually made from crushed oyster shells and is a great source of calcium for your laying hens who can get a little low in calcium during peak laying times
what breed of chickens that can take care of their chicks ?? i really love the sussex and the red islands rhodes but in order to hatch the eggs it needs to be incubated
hi it was fun to watch , now that second hen , what breed is that ? All my chicks of two Old English Gamebirds have died , they free range and the hen did like the second mom but hatched about 10 chicks out and she was too fast for the chicks to follow her around sadly enough . The second batch she did I tried to catch them but she went nuts being in captivity so what do you do with chickens that lived their entire life in the trees and need to be captured but wont accept it ??? I'm just going nuts due my hens unhappiness and constant deaths of the kids , I'm clueless
Both of those hens are just a mix of Standard Old English Gamebirds or as most people call them fighting chickens. I have the same issues as you. They are very wild and prefer to roost in the trees. If I expect for very many of the chicks to survive I have to catch them soon after hatch and put them in a cage. If the mother hen doesn't do well being pinned up I just let her fly out and raise them like I do chicks that are purchased at a feed store.
Hi thx for the fast reply ! Well I was already afraid you'd say that , they're nice birds , good broodies too but as moms while freeranging they suck , each time you approach their area they would leave their kids on the ground while flying into their trees and then you see them walking around wining for their babies ! I found one chick alive hidden in some hey , the poor thing became so cold it was gonna die so now I try to raise this one that is left like how you mentioned , got a brooder installed and a lonely chick in it that hopefully is gonna make it ... my english fighthens are not even concerned about it , they are busy building another nest weirdos -_- . Ty for the support here ! ps subscribed
Such beautiful ladies...love how they get all puffed up during broody season!
Greetings from South Africa!
What a blessing for Houston, growing up on a farm!!! 🐓🐣🐄🐗🐐🐑🐔🐤🦃🐷🐄🐓
OMG - look at that adorable younger Houston - first time I've found one with him this young

I've always lived in cities. Watching this was delightful. Now I want some chickens and goats! :) P.S. your son is so sweet.
Thank you! Chickens are the gateway drug in to the farm life!
Trust me you don't want more than three goats
It's funny how mean even the nicest of hens can get when they are broody, lol
Yes it is.
That because their parental Instincts are kick in.
OMG I was looking at my tv and when I herd the fast forward with the goats I had to look at it again it was not a fail it was awsome it was so funny I had tears from my eyes all your videos are great like clearing the trails
fast forward and talking
is funny I like them all
keep safe and happy

Your littlr kid is amazing you are a good father !!!!
Thank you.

That hen went nuts on u lol
Yep, she's crazy!
Nothing is more precious than a mother, and her children. 😢
Omg I saw this vid today and right in the beginning is little Bear, so cute, love it =)
She is so cute!
Favorite part is the second mama chicken. Came outta there like a bullet.
That is what you call a father. Teaching to respect animals from the beginning.
Love your videos, thanks for all the great information
Love your videos, for all the great information and nice to See thank+
You should crush those shells up and add it to that hens feed. That helps make new eggshells.
We have used a deer fence ( from Home Depot ) for years. It has worked really well for us. The only problem is it tears really easy. So depending on the wind, we have to change it about every 2 years. Don't mess with her babies LOL.
That's pretty much about the same type of fence I'm doing.
Omgosh that second mama chicken made my day 😂😂😂
Those babies are soooooo sweet ... but not even CLOSE to Houston!!!
Houston is such a cute little boy. He looks like he’s always happy. Thanks for showing us those crazy broody hens !
The wire fence has too large squares. Add chicken wire to it so the chicks can't run through the large openings. Just an idea. You have a beautiful property.
Haha 😂🐐 Houston...what a cutie.
We didn't get early spring we got more snow last night lol that first mama looked like she was counting the chicks 🐥🐥
OHH, no snow here. You can keep all that stuff!
wow amazing channel, thank you for sharing to us such a big farm .
Little man is so cool. We get a kick out of him. Got Miss Apryl a chicken coop and run built last week. I got feeders and nesting boxes left and then we'll have chickens.
Thanks, I like him a lot also! Good luck with the chicken adventure! They are so much fun.

LOL, Yep.
I loved it when you speed up the video, so funny. Huston is so sweet, makes a good little home steadier
It takes two people to catch the mama hen and babies. Cute stripe on a couple of them.
looks like your boots could do with some water proofing here is a good recipe:
16oz of natural beeswax, 8oz boiled linseed oil, 8oz turpentine you will find your boots will last a good length of time trust me! hope that tip helps
Thanks for the tip!
that one momma chicken is just nuts lol those are cute baby chicks for sure
Yes she is.
Houston is sooo CUTE! TJ from Ketchikan, Alaska!
New subscriber here.... Just a bit of advice with your chickens..... if you hold them upside down by their legs, which does NOT hurt them, they will go into a calm, quiet state..... until you put them back down. ;)
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The chicks are so adorable!
Those momma hens are CRAZY!
That momma chicken isn't abandoning her nest she is trying to distract you from where her nest is by being loud and crazy
Yeah you are right. She always come comes back with 15-20 minutes.
That's how animals lure the predator away from the nest or babies!
no she does , this breed has that issue , really , I got all proof of those hens here at my homestead and they even leave their kids behind while just going up to a tree ! no matter how long the chicks are getting cold !

Gretchen McCann That is so cool!!
I will love to buy some of this organic chickens
Organic chicken s??? never heard of that breed ...
i am in central oklahoma near noble. just incubated eggs. 18 out of 23 hatched.... had 36 but some werent fertile i guess. bought them from my eating egg supplier. he only had one rooster for about 20 hens lol. hes a busy roo
good goats .lots of free food in woods
When my Cuckoo Maran went broody, I had to use driving gloves in order to collect the eggs. Once I put some eggs underneath her, allowed her to hatch and raise her own flock. She never went broody ever again. The chicks she hatch still treated her as a mom even when they were well into their 4th year of life.
That's odd that she never went broody again.
Just found this one. So enjoyable!
Cute Baby Chicks ❤❤❤❤
Chickens are great, love this video, thanks
Haha that one broody hen is Crazzzzzzy!!! ;)

Houston has grown a lot in two years 🌝
The OG Daniel taking care of Houston Is sacrificed himself For the chick good job man
When you taking a hen from the eggs, you must grab it by it back and just pull it up from the eggs. That way it can't bite and that is the best way to put it down to eggs and it young again
Those are the cutest baby chicks!
I'm in Oklahoma too! Just found your channel. New subscriber here! 😀
Hey thanks for the sub! Glad you enjoy the channel.
Chicken be Crazy. SHE SAID I'LL BE leaving. ha ha.
I would like to see you find a milkman and get a few milk crates from him they make the best nest you will ever find I was a milkman for 16 years and I had people ask all the time for them.
Letting the chickens eat the eggshells is really good for them!
Deer can jump a 8 foot fence no problem, can even jump a a 10 foot fence if they really want those tasty looking plants on the other side.
This was a fun and funny video to watch between the goat fail and the crazy chicken 😂😂😂
Me to
Looks just like our hen

Ooooh, look at all those chicks
That was a great vlog. What a good momma that one is. What is the chick with the brown down its backside?
They are just a barnyard mix of chicks.
What is the size of used area in your farm?what is the breed or the mix of the beautiful puppy you have?

Looks like she was counting all of them!!
How long did she sit on those eggs before they hatched?
They eat those egg shells for calcium.

What breed of chicken are those two broody hens? I'm branching out from RIR, Rocks and Red Links. Want some broody mommas! Thank you !
The are somewhat of a barnyard mix but mostly American Game Fowl.
Of course! Something I can't get from the hatchery or TSC! Lol. Thank you, have a blessed day! :)
Very nice!
Thanks.
