I have a walk in freezer that i think has a dead fan delay and defrost termination switch along with a dead defrost clock being that the defrost clock isn't keeping the correct time and losing 2hrs. Also once the whole system comes back the fans instantly kick back on. Those grasslin are great for what they do, but they don't last like a paragon. Good video! it's nice to learn from you.

poor thermostat location with lack of airflow and a box opened often can result in wide swings, as can bad thermostat or leaky door/box causing previous person to set it wide
I have made a move towards all digital defrost timers, no mechanical parts to fail. It's either good or bad and you can just hit a button to manually put it into defrost.

@@HVACRVIDEOS ok I replaced the potential relay start cap and run cap are good. It is still tried to start and is pulling 26 amps. It's rated for 6.80 RLA. LRA is 40.0 I think is done.

it's probably due for replacement, but it's common for springs and diaphragms to wear/lose strength or work harden with aging. which of course makes throws off the pressure limits set.

We are referring to the temperature inside the box so if its temping good the temperature is correct but if it's not temping than its above the desired setpoint.
I think you should’ve marked the timer first before spinning it to make sure it was properly spinning and then put it into a defrost and let it deice on its own and make sure that it’s not kicking it out of defrost too early

R12 systems are strictly forbidden by the motrealprotocol since 2000. since 2005 R22 was added. this accounts for R404A and starting from 2030 R410A as well. from that moment on only natural gasses like ammonia and co2 are permitted. since 2015 R22, R401A, R402 and R408 are strictly forbidden to be used at all. all that because R22. from 2030 onwards only R744, R290 and Nh3 will be permitted.

Can you expand on your aborted "latency" comment with regard to digital gauges during the pump down and pressure switch adjustment. Like the addition of newbie hands and allowing and correcting errors with explanation! Thanks.
Electronic gauges need time to measure the pressure, convert to digital, and update display. It can take longer than you think. In the video the SMAN gauges appear to be behind by 0.5s.Analog gauges are instant by comparison.

Good vid
I am wondering if the limit switch was shorted . That’s why you were getting power on X.
Hey Chris, is that a HVAC Control Systems book by Ronnie J. Auvil that I see in the background? I work on old school HVAC pneumatic controls so that book is like the bible for me. Also it covers a lot of things I deal with on a regular basis like VAV's, reheat coils, AHU's, etc. All good stuff. I took Ronnie's online course for Building Automation Systems.

Man i havent seen an r12 compressor in a while
what keeps the fans from blowing the mist out when it comes back on after defrost reducing ice in walk n?
A fan delay limit switch
The family delay switch is in series with your evap fan circuit. At times called a klixon.
Oh yeah what is a normal temperature swing for a walk in freezer? The one i mentioned swings about 10 degrees and it seems extreme to me. It has an analog T stat.
I set mine for 3-4 degrees of temp swing, Thanks for watching, I will be going live on UA-cam this evening 5/13/19 @ 5:PM (west coast time) to discuss my most recent uploads and answer questions from the chat. Come check it out if you can ua-cam.com/video/tQb9QK9LnH4/v-deo.html
poor thermostat location with lack of airflow and a box opened often can result in wide swings, as can bad thermostat or leaky door/box causing previous person to set it wide
I have made a move towards all digital defrost timers, no mechanical parts to fail. It's either good or bad and you can just hit a button to manually put it into defrost.
Yeah it's hard for me to make the jump but the industry is heading that way for sure!
About 3 minutes in the frost pattern on the side of the coil makes me suspicious of the drain
Your awesome The defrost clock was bad mmm Kay and oh yeah Drugs are bad Mmmm Kay "South Park " Love your videos :)
Well interesting I like to deal with many electronic things but I do not have much experience.

Where do you get r-12 from? Black market? :) I guess there is some minimal supply for some servicing and maybe as fire retardant in some critical systems (aviation), so maybe there is way.
jumper. I just did this yesterday.

I have a question for you.i need your help before i condem this compressor I have a 115v reach in cooler and the compressor is a neu2155u. Is trying to start and is pulling 26amps but not starting. Is it done or what you thinking i shoul check next. It has a potential relay.
Check the starting componets before condemning the compressor
@@HVACRVIDEOS ok
I replaced the potential relay start cap and run cap are good.
It is still tried to start and is pulling 26 amps. It's rated for 6.80 RLA. LRA is 40.0
I think is done.
Have you had customers who are totally against a defrost in the middle of the day? Do you appease the customer or keep your position of a defrost in the middle of the day?
great video where did u get that hose extension that u were using to wash the evap
Lowes, there is a link in the video description.

I like how you just whacked the pressure switch with a screwdriver and the compressor shut off

it's probably due for replacement, but it's common for springs and diaphragms to wear/lose strength or work harden with aging. which of course makes throws off the pressure limits set.
Hey chris, how much of a hassle for you is it to drain the refrigerant, it seems to me that would be a job that i wouldnt like doing
its not a big deal at all, we have a special machine that does it for us, I will be going live on UA-cam this evening 1/27/20 @ 5:PM (pacific time) to discuss my most recent uploads and answer questions from UA-cam comments, emails and the live chat. Termination temp sensor still good? Could be terminating too early.

WoW, is that machine working with R-12?!
Yep
This refrigerant has been banned in the Netherlands since 2001. Now its illegal...
You guys still using R12 & R22 in the states?
Yeah we still run into some older refrigerants, Thanks for watching, I will be going live on UA-cam this evening 5/13/19 @ 5:PM (west coast time) to discuss my most recent uploads and answer questions from the chat. Come check it out if you can ua-cam.com/video/tQb9QK9LnH4/v-deo.html
What do you guys in the US mean when you say a system is "Temping" ?
We are referring to the temperature inside the box so if its temping good the temperature is correct but if it's not temping than its above the desired setpoint.
I think you should’ve marked the timer first before spinning it to make sure it was properly spinning and then put it into a defrost and let it deice on its own and make sure that it’s not kicking it out of defrost too early
Good video 👍
Havnt you replaced just about all of those systems in that rack???? I've been watching ya for a while now and I think your damn close Chris .. hahahahaha

Obsessive compulsive disorder!!! Thats what make ur job perfect and nice!!!
R-12 in california wow
R12 systems are strictly forbidden by the motrealprotocol since 2000. since 2005 R22 was added. this accounts for R404A and starting from 2030 R410A as well. from that moment on only natural gasses like ammonia and co2 are permitted. since 2015 R22, R401A, R402 and R408 are strictly forbidden to be used at all. all that because R22. from 2030 onwards only R744, R290 and Nh3 will be permitted.
numbers 223, 224, 225 in this Refrigeration playlist are all dup listings of the same video 👍 😉

@@fluke196c So for setting pressure switches, especially in a pump down situation, better to use an old analog stubby gauge?
@@davejohnsonnola2758 I honestly dont think it matters as long as your paying close attention to your digis. You will get it close enough.
