    Take care of the Chicago & Northwestern locomotive...my father worked for them and my grandfather retired after nearly fifty years with them (South Pekin Illinois)

    SMT - to make your Hershey factory dispense small candy pieces, maybe you could find a junker Tyco culvert pipe unloader? This accessory pushes culvert pipe sections off of a flat car and into a bin. You could get the mechanism working, modify the unloader, and place it inside the factory.

    she can be upgraded to run DCC. Also the trucks when you opened it was backwards... typically the power leads for the trucks for the top of your motor is on the right hand side not on the left. And you want the plastic motor mounts that screw in...

    (Hint) buy locomotives and track and transformers and throttle controllers "brandnew" buy rolling stock and houses and accessories used! You actually save money by doing this method! This is a great method for all model trains and for a professional "view" of your layout.... Get and install a 8 channel "PoE" surveillance camera system with audio!

    If you put a little dish liquid on the motor mounts they will slide in nicely .

    I can understand why you don't want to use a sewing pin to clean commutator slots, because you can slip and scar the commutator plates. Using something of a softer material is a good idea! For cleaning HO scale steel rail track, I wonder if anyone has tried using a new nylon scrub pad? The nylon scrub pads work good for cleaning the oxidation from O gauge tinplate rails. Oven cleaner can be used to strip paint from plastic models, but BE CAREFUL and use eye and skin protection!

    • @SMTMainline
      @SMTMainline  2 місяці тому +1

      I feel like a nylon scrub pad would work but I wonder if its prone to snagging on the sharp edges of HO track.

    • @Petemonster62
      @Petemonster62 2 місяці тому

      @@SMTMainline - You are right, the nylon pad does snag on the ends of tinplate rails!

      I got the idea of using a nylon scrub pad to clean tinplate rails from a repair article in Classic Toy Trains magazine.
