    I did the heavy version this year. Very true words that video cannot do the course justice. The opening ceremony still gives me chills and makes you rethink wanting to quit when you feel a little discomfort. Thanks for posting this.

    Army nurse here. The book “Angels of Bataan” was one of my motivators when I completed the March in 2013. I will be back in 2024 to honor and remember our Bataan Warriors!
    When we were at the bbq afterwards, we shared our table with 2 German Air Force members. Think about that-sharing a meal with airmen who we would’ve been at odds with during WW2. It was an amazing experience.

    Thank you to all the participants, for keeping the memory alive. My grandpa was a Filipino soldier that died during the Bataan Death March. Watching the hike, very difficult to imagine what my grandpa endured up to his death.

    I participated with my unit in 2001. It was a good experience and something I'll never forget as I went across the finish line with my commander, CPT. Baker. You don't walk the sand pits, you sprint through them. lol It hurts more trying to take every sinking step. We were Heavy/Military. Glad to see you had a good experience. Always remember.

    Thank you for remembering and honoring the Bataan Death March. My uncle is part of it and he is lucky to survive but a lot of them made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. They are the Battling Bastard of Bataan, no Mama, no Papa, no Uncle Sam. Thank you to all service members Men or Women past and present. May God Bless You and the U.S.A.

    The Months of fighting with inadequate sleep, feeling tired and always watchful of enemies, low supply of food and water, loneliness, desperation, mosquitos and malaria plus other diseases, seeing your enemy in control, feeling lost your friends gone forever. All this have to be added not just walking and marching in the heat, then, it will be good and real.

    Great video,
    I live in the Philippines on the actual Death March road. Marker 68KM. I hike the death march road in sections almost every day. I have done the march in its entirety close to 12 times. 102KM. Someday I's love to make the trip and do this once. What were the temperatures thru the day??? here its 90-100 degrees.

    Can I ask how's it feels....to do that... to walk that long? Well is this new to the u.s.a to recall the history...
    I like to say sorry for those who lost their life's in BATAAN...

      It’s amazing. I’ve only done the 15 mile route. I spent most of the day thinking about the Bataan prisoners and the sacrifices they made for our freedom. Cool thing is that some of the Bataan survivors attend, so I got to thank them in person. I will be there in 2024. Will you?

    The actual experience of THE BATAAN DEATH MARCH were much HARSHER AND PAINFUL COMPARED to THIS experience. AMERICAN AND FILIPINO SOLDIERS WALKI ALL DAY IN THE HEAT OF THE SCORCHING SUN, WITH ALMOST NO FOOD AND WATER BEING GIVEN TO THEM! IT WAS A DAY TO DAY TORTURE FOR THEM TO PAINFULLY DIE ONE BY ONE.

    • @DeanS13IA
      @DeanS13IA Рік тому

      Do you want them to add torture to the course? Mayne try to make it more realistic by shooting at the participants?
