105 Challengers were build by ALCO in Schenectady, New York, between 1936 and '44.
Should have kept the railroad running on steam
they also should have just kept using outhouses rather than bother with all the plumbing..

Norfolk and Western tried that because they were a primary coal road. The last of their fires dropped in 1960. Photographer O. Winston Link thankfully, was there to capture it all.
Quite interesting how identical the Challengers and Big Boys look…I really need to count the drivers to tell the difference!

would much raather hear the sounds of the locomotive than this rather boring music
