Its funny that 200 Americans live in NK, but the North did not want that one solder that ran into north Korea last year they threw him out.

He didn’t have any real propaganda value. Low level guy who didn’t know shit and was running from a court marshal. He is also black and who knows if they wanted their people to have exposure to him.

@@mzmel1 For about 10-15 years already North Koreans are not accepting runaways. Even if those are South Koreans. They simply tell them to return where they came from

He was the 7th soldier to defect, only two made it out - him and Jenkins, who was released after 40 years. Usually, they parade Americans to the media for propaganda, but they didn't do it with him. They've also used defectors as language teachers, but they didn't do it with him. I think they kicked him out because they just didn't want a black guy hanging around i.e., racism saved his ass.

The statement at 1:05 is incorrect - the brothers were NOT born in the USA, but rather in the DPRK.

Was he told that their father defected to the DPRK for some reason?

Thank you for the education about North Korea. I have to admit that I would never be brave enough to go to North Korea for any reason. The knowledge they could kidnap me at any moment and what they did to Otto Warmbier (sp?) means I’d never do it.
I pity everyone in that country, but I can’t call the children of Americans there “Americans.” That’s not how it works.

Yes they are Americans because of our crazy birthright citizenship laws. The 14th Amendment was one of the biggest mistakes in this country's history.
