Sicksi Brady threw a 70 yard pass with 10 seconds left. It would’ve been difficult with two defenders on him, but if Moss wants to be the best ever, he has to use skills to grab it & take it in the end zone to complete the 19-0 season

Joe Buck thought he actually pulled down his pants and mooned them and said it was a "disgusting act by Randy Moss" when it was fairly harmless. @Harry Engel you also were playing a yankees team who were playing for shellshocked new york city after 9/11 in 2001. That yankee team was going to stop at nothing to win the world series and it took a walkoff base hit in game 7 to stop them.
One of the greatest to ever do it. Moss was a menace on the field all throughout his career! As a longtime Falcons fan: I enjoyed watching him play (especially when he was in Minnesota).
William Lobig no it didn’t the best Brady-era patriots team is 2007 followed closely by 2004, and then 2014 and 2003. The 2010 team is probably their 5th best team, and the 2011 team that made the Super Bowl is not even top 10. The 2009 and 2012 teams are bottom 5 teams of the Brady era, with the 2009 team being the absolute worst. The 2009 Patriots almost made Belichick up and leave, that’s how frustrated he was. He admitted to Tom midway through the season “I just can’t get these guys to play the way I need them to play”. The 2002 team that missed the playoffs was better than the 09 team, hell the 01 team that had no business being in the super bowl was still a more cohesive unit than the 09 disaster
One of my all time favorite players ever. Really sad he couldn't get the title. He got so close with the 49ers at the very end of his career but the Ravens took that one. Ended up being his last shot. Moss is still the goat, though.
Randy moss, if your reading this, don’t be sad you didn’t win a sb, none of us in the UA-cam comment section are gonna win an super bowl, just be happy you had a good career.
The Bills lost four straight Super Bowls as well... but hey, both teams are playing really well this season so something crazy might happen come playoff time!
You’re lucky you guys aren’t lions fans... never won a “super bowl”. Only some championships. We haven’t even made it to the playoffs second round since 1991
I wouldnt say that unless you dont want to go to the playoffs. We are currently 8-4 with a 6 seed and our 3 remaining home games against divisional opponents with a shot at a division title the day before christmas. This is classic vikings being vikings material.
"It felt like a team that knew they were talented, but didn't care enough to be great", WOW, well said. I have been a fan ever since the days of "Fran the Man" and that has got to be the best summation of this team throughout the decades since.
Honestly being in the Hall of Fame is better because you were recognized without your teams accomplishments. Randy Moss was so great he astonished everyone and is put on Jerry Rice' level easily and he never won a SB.
The "play when I want to play" quote was taken out of context. He was asked a question on what motivated him to play, if it was Chris Carter, his coaches, or his teammates. He responded that none of that motivated him because he was always motivated and he played when he wanted to play. A 2 second google search would have told you guys that. Great video though
It is a great example of how a media narrative can warp what people think of high profile people, and just how hard it is to say the *right* thing even when you've said the right thing.
That's true, and Moss was taken out of context for much of his career to force that "lazy" narrative by actually lazy sportswriters. But it doesn't matter what his intent was - in the video, they're using it to illustrate how he was seen. Also, Moss did do the things people criticized him for - leaving a game early, walking off the line if he wasn't the target, etc. He's probably the greatest WR of all time, but he was inarguably inconsistent.
@@nin_tendo6458 then you haven't watched him play. None of Moss teammates bashed him and said he took plays off. Watch every wr in the NFL, if it's a run play on the opposite side of the field they half block the db or they run the db up field when he's playing man coverage. Moss ran more deep routes then anyone else on the team per game. He used up more energy then any other wr so he was asked to go 75% on some plays. That was stated by Chris Carter. Now if you want to bring up his Oakland Raider days then I suggest you watch the entire team. They all took plays off and put little effort in. Brady and Culpepper praised Moss for his efforts. So did Kapernick.

4 reasons why with that one. 1. Shaq and Kobe in ‘01 2. Larry Brown leaving the Sixers to join the Pistons 3. The short lived duo of Iverson and Melo that couldn’t seem to live up to the expectations. 4. Joining a declining Pistons team that should’ve never fired Flip Saunders after ‘08

he looked up and saw the 9&7 Giants and thought a super bowl was finally going to happen for him, so did everyone but the Giants. remember, the Giants played them late in the regular season, played well but couldn't contain them. they were fortunate to have that experience, they used what they learned in that game to devise a good enough game plan for the bowl. that crazy play late in the game wouldn't have mattered if they weren't close enough by playing good defense. I'm a Texan from Fort Worth and a diehard Cowboy fan, but that was one of my favorite games of all time! I still go back and watch it and love every minute!
Brian Miller I will always blame the play calling at the end of the first half. Watching Cunningham throw was like watching a lawn chair unfold. You could see that fumble coming a mile away.
@Harry Engel Plus, what's usually forgotten about that 1998 Vikings team was that while their offense was historic in terms of its production, it's defense was maybe average at best at least in terms of points allowed, sacks, interceptions, forced fumbles, etc. Now, if everyone on that defense played up to their potential, I'd rate them perhaps higher as above-average, but by the time of Atl NFCCG, quite a few key defensive stars were injured or weren't 100% prepared and I think also maybe Vikings underestimated Falcons as a team, and I believe Dan Reeves out-coached Green when it came to the intangibles(preparation, focus, determination), in the week leading up to the game and during the game. Dan Reeves is a forgotten HOF-caliber HC who won 2 SB's as a Cowboys asst in the 70s and took Broncos to 3 SB appearances with Elway at the helm. Reeves was certainly capable of out-coaching better, more talented teams in big games. He did 3 times to Browns in the 1980's, winning the AFC Championship Game. He's not or wasn't Bill Belichick or Bill Parcells in his prime, but he could outsmart teams who's HC's had a tendency to make mental errors or make mistakes in-games by being too aggressive, or too greedy, like Green's 98 Vikings. The 2000 Vikings had a good team, but as great as Culpeppers rookie season was, man it is a lot to ask of a rookie QB to win a SB in such a hostile, nasty environment like New York. That 2000 Giants team was a lot better in terms of quality talent then how some experts, writers, and historians have described them as: They had two future HOF's, a QB who found his life and purpose restored again once he quit alcohol for good and ended up having a pretty damn good career, Tiki Barber would be a HOF RB if he retires 2-3 years later then he did prematurely, Jim Fassel hurt the Giants chances more than anyone else because he and his staff micro-managed their team's offensive philosophy going into SB XXXV, this fact has been reported and verified by numerous Giants players, former assistants on Fassel's staff in 2000, as well as by credible Giants beat reporters and columnists. My basic point is: the 2000 Vikings squad didn't lose to some lucky, one-year wonder pushover team that quickly folded up and never emerged again as a contender again like the 2008 Arizona Cardinals or the 2015 Carolina Panthers. Vikings really didn't have another legitimate SB shot until 2009 Favre-led team lost to my Saints in another brutal, closely-contested game. Whenever My Saints play the Vikings, whether it's regular season or postseason, you either get a shootout, a long, painful, brutal OT game that feels like it's lasted 5 hours, or some marathon, heart-stopping contest where the game ends on some miraculous, memorable play like in 2017 with Stefon Diggs making that classic 69-yard TD game that won the game, 29-24, in what's been labeled as the Minneapolis Miracle. Very rarely does a Saints/Viking game turn out to be boring, or a one-sided blowout.
SB Nation, I don’t normally leave comments. But you’ve got a real talent in your staff. Will Buikema is great at his job. I’m now a subscriber and look forward to see more contents from him. 👍
I'm a 49er fan and when I heard that we are going to sign Randy Moss even after he retired for one year we were all excited... Even though he was past his prime.. we know that he still can make a difference and if you look at his numbers caught 28 for 434 yards with 3 touchdowns.. but his presence on the football field was a huge difference because a lot of defenders focused on him allowing other receivers to get open... At that time the 49ers had tried to receiver Michael Crabtree... With Randy Moss on the other side Michael Crabtree caught 85 catches for 1100 yards with 9 TDs... That was Michael crabtree's best season when it came to numbers.. Randy Moss didn't need the cash a lot of balls or even be target a lot to make a huge difference which he did with his San Francisco 49ers when they made that super bowl appearance... Now of course I won't text Israel doing super bowl every year but that particular year I really want him to win because Frank Gore Alex Smith and Vernon Davis as well as for Patrick Willis before Jim Harbaugh came to this San Francisco 49ers back in 2011 they played in really horrible awful teams with the San Francisco 49ers but they never quit and they always kept playing hard but when Randy Moss got there nobody deserves a ring more than he did and has a football fan my heart was broken when we lost to the Baltimore Ravens.... Many Moss in my opinion is the greatest deep threat receiver of all time.. And he deserves a super Mario ring my Dan Marino and Barry Sanders as well as the entire Buffalo bills between 1990 to 1994
@@KOCChristian Yeah, lucky. When Amendola catches a tipped-off ball around several Falcons it's a great play, but when Tyree holds the pass between his hand and his helmet, it's luck... Go cry somewhere else. And I'm not even a Giants fan.
I would like to see one on Dan Marino and Reggie Miller. Also you can do one Patrick Ewing and for MMA Alexander Gustafson, and Allistiar Overeem. To never win a UFC belt while being one of the GOATs in the weight class.
As a lifelong Cowboys fan who knows the history of the game and saw firsthand the struggles and frustrations of the 70s Vikings, I have NEVER rooted for a team so hard to finally get a championship as I did the 1998 Vikings. That was their year and it truly felt like destiny would finally take hold for the Vikings. I wasn't able to watch the end of the NFC Championship game and I was totally gutted and stunned when I found out that Atlanta had come back to win.
Minnesota WR Cris Carter on teammate Randy Moss’ remarks that he only plays “when I want to play”: “Some of it, did he mean it? Yes. But some of it did get misconstrued? It was not taken totally out of context, but some of it was asked in the sense of: ‘Does Coach Green get you motivated? Do you like playing on Monday Night Football? Do you like playing the Packers? Does Cris have to get on you to make a play?’ And he said, ‘No, I play when I want to play.'”

Kaque Burlington because he was having a Perfect Season (made every FG and XP that year) and is one of the greatest kickers of all time. It would be like if Vinatieri was having a perfect season in 2003 and then missed the kick to beat Carolina in the SB - it wouldn’t matter if the Pats defense let the panthers win, everyone would talk about Vinatieri’s miss.
Robert Smith running out of bounds several times on the Anderson-miss drive in the 1998 NFCCG is equally to blame for the Falcons combine. Inexcusable mistake
Marshall Faulk! Pleeeeeeease! The Diminutive One deserves everlasting respect. I remember watching a game he commentated, and the depth of his analysis blew me away. Where the typical analyst could only point to "run", "left", "right", Faulk saw and understood the significance of where every single player moved and conveyed that immediately. But viewers just wanted more "Boom! Turducken," or something. Les sigh.
1998 could have been the greatest SB ever...Broncos vs Vikings...Moss was open even when he wasn’t open...God given talent...Thank Dennis Green for giving him a chance
Do Phillip Rivers or T.O please. I love the Channel. You could also do why Peyton didn't have more rings than Brady when his teams offense was always better. It proves defense wins chips

Long stretch of time, many lost opportunities, especially 2010-2011!

As it pains me to say being a Vikings fan, we are... my father as a young teen watched them loose all 4 super bowls..
Being a Vikings fan is an exercise in futility. I couldn't root for this team anymore, I was driving myself insane getting my hopes up.
The Bills lost four straight Super Bowls as well... but hey, both teams are playing really well this season so something crazy might happen come playoff time!
You’re lucky you guys aren’t lions fans... never won a “super bowl”. Only some championships. We haven’t even made it to the playoffs second round since 1991
@Harry Engel Um 108 years of losing says otherwise. But i am sure your positive thinking was what ended all that losing 😂
As a Vikings fan- No question. I’m ready to be hurt again.
I wouldnt say that unless you dont want to go to the playoffs. We are currently 8-4 with a 6 seed and our 3 remaining home games against divisional opponents with a shot at a division title the day before christmas. This is classic vikings being vikings material.
9-4! Not this year, brother. We are gonna go all the way, and finally win our first super bowl!! #SKOL

It’s great that you guys are making these story because people think that these players sucked or wasn’t great because they didn’t win titles...
"It felt like a team that knew they were talented, but didn't care enough to be great", WOW, well said. I have been a fan ever since the days of "Fran the Man" and that has got to be the best summation of this team throughout the decades since.
Moss is in the HOF that’s close to a title as you can get
Honestly being in the Hall of Fame is better because you were recognized without your teams accomplishments.
It is a great example of how a media narrative can warp what people think of high profile people, and just how hard it is to say the *right* thing even when you've said the right thing.
except that when Randy didn't want to play, he didn't play
That's true, and Moss was taken out of context for much of his career to force that "lazy" narrative by actually lazy sportswriters. But it doesn't matter what his intent was - in the video, they're using it to illustrate how he was seen.
Also, Moss did do the things people criticized him for - leaving a game early, walking off the line if he wasn't the target, etc. He's probably the greatest WR of all time, but he was inarguably inconsistent.
True, but anyone who watched him play could see he meant it the way it comes off in this video. He at least behaved that way.
So did Kapernick.
i grew up with ken griffey jr and I'm pretty sure he never even came close to a title. he's one of the greatest ever without one

Make an episode on Allen Iverson.
4 reasons why with that one.
1. Shaq and Kobe in ‘01
2. Larry Brown leaving the Sixers to join the Pistons

That was awesome. Dan Marino from you guys would be dope.
he looked up and saw the 9&7 Giants and thought a super bowl was finally going to happen for him, so did everyone but the Giants. remember, the Giants played them late in the regular season, played well but couldn't contain them. they were fortunate to have that experience, they used what they learned in that game to devise a good enough game plan for the bowl. that crazy play late in the game wouldn't have mattered if they weren't close enough by playing good defense. I'm a Texan from Fort Worth and a diehard Cowboy fan, but that was one of my favorite games of all time! I still go back and watch it and love every minute!

It hink the video give plenty of other opportunities that were wasted, including Moss.
Also David Tyree who “Mossed” him out of a Super Bowl.
Gary anderson kicked us out of possibly one of the best super bowls ever with Minnesota vs Denver
Y’all should do the 74-72 Texas A&M vs LSU game
I'm a Giant fan who absolutely loves Randy Moss so this video is incredibly bittersweet.

And he deserves a super Mario ring my Dan Marino and Barry Sanders as well as the entire Buffalo bills between 1990 to 1994
Randy was great🏈 i always wanted him on the Ravens.
