      And she isn't wrong about the audience being a character insofar as the wrestlers interact with and use the audience to build their character. I don't watch AEW so I have no idea what her work looks like, but not everything she said was inherently wrong.

      Writers are completely behind the scene and for some reason aren't satisfied with watching their work played out by other people on television.     As a screenwriter, filmmaker, sports broadcaster, and a fan of wrestling for 40 years, this was absolutely excruciating to listen to. I would need my own podcast just to break down all of the things that was said that drives me nuts. Talking about 15-second holding shots on a TV show with a sports presentation, awful choice. Writing scripts for people that are athletes first, personalities second, and actors third is an awful choice. Not having a full grasp on the difference between writing for live performance and writing for a multi-take process is not confidence-inspiring either. I can't believe I made it to the end, I just couldn't stop the bleeding.

    Every time I hear someone give the "just work hard" or "be the hardest worker" advice I'm reminded of what my high school basketball coach taught us. He told us that every school on our schedule is going to be working hard so working harder isn't really going to cut it, but we can work smarter than them.
    Working hard and working smart are two very different things.

    Mercedes can’t cut a promo. She can’t cut a promo when one is written for her, rehearses, and put on cue cards. So now they need to interview her writer to cut a promo for her.
    Can Jennifer Pepperman work at all in the ring? Might be better and less expensive than all that Moné going to Mercedes.

The NWO is probably the most damaging case of this, but the AEW Devil is evidence that it still exists today. It's important to be adaptable if the crowd gets behind someone else, but starting a long-term story without knowing the intended end is rarely a good idea.

    I actually didn’t hate the thunder dome once I got used to it…I enjoyed being able to hear the wrestlers communicate to eachother during the match… I’d rather not ever go back to it but I didn’t think it was as bad as most

    I’ll just say this: listening to your audience is important but, when your audience is in an empty arena, it’s clear that you’re not listening. She needs to be involved more with the serious stories like Kane vs. Undertaker at WM XIV, Kane vs. Snitsky, Guerroro vs. Mysterio in 2005, and Angle vs. Triple H in 2000. But, cutting in-ring promos that should be produced by someone with wrestling experience. At the end of the day, she’s saying a bunch of words without saying anything.

      Sounds like just wrestling clips lol😂😅 not story telling. You can watch a 30 second clip from WWE showing the wrestler interactions and commentary explaining the situation and you get what's going on. You don't get much of that from AEWs UA-cam channel.

    Hate Vince and piss on his grave all you want. One thing no one ever denied is the fact that he put people in their place. They all had to work overtime to maneuver the old man into doing their ideas.
    He filtered everything involving Jericho and didn't just let him do everything he wanted.       It’s not about putting people in their place or anything like that imo, it’s about having a system in place that allows people who know what they’re doing to get into these positions in the first place. That’s not possible in AEW, and it wasn’t possible when Vince was in charge of hiring writers either. The person hiring has to somehow know what they’re doing and who they’re hiring. I don’t know if there’s a way to do that, but AEW or Vince can’t do it.
