Thank you for the Dev Diary! This one was informative, but I hope in future Dev Diaries we'll get some additional gameplay footage. Would be great to see a demonstration of how it all works in real-time.
Thanks for checking out our dev diary! If you're interested in seeing a demonstration, here's the link to the Ara segment from the Xbox gamescom livestream: ua-cam.com/users/livedhel6pUIIQs?si=MfnvO9lWTF1mmnGP&t=8298
First of all, really looking forward to this new interpretation of a 4X. The battles remind me a lot of Endless Space where the battles happened automatically if 2 opposing fleets ran into each other. It also had a cinematic representation of the battle afterwards. In that game you had the option to choose different strategies for the Early, Mid and Pursuit phase of the battle. Will Ara have something similar to give players more options to finetune their strategy.
Great start. Definitely looking for more content on this game. All I’ve gathered so far is that it’s a civ-like game that looks pretty and looks more free-form than grid/hex based layout. Keep it coming!
YES I LOVE that combat looks kinda like Total War. In Civ they're essentially chess pieces ont he same board. I like that there's a battle camera here, and we can actually see 'to scale' what happens with armies.
@@TheGoreforce I'd actually compare it EU4 more than Stellaris, EU4 combat is technically turn based, as calculations are happening each day, rather than stellaris where calculations are not dependent on the game speed.
they are absolutely dependant on game speed 3 events happen each day, and some are escape jumps and other things, just but I haven't played much EU at all but hundreds of hours in Human Kind, Civilization, and with stellaris alone I have over 1200 hours played. The combat isn't really what I mean when I compare it to stellaris, Each square is like the system view travel... there is still a chance that faster ships will be able to go through the system without combat. In this game there is a speed stat, and you can apply hit and run tactics, because the faster units can disengage, however, stellaris is more sticky, but again, it's more so the way tech works in ARA and how units get to take advantage of the new technology, you can only make a copper spear if you don't have bronze. Then you put these same units into a formation. Causing losing units to lose the resources that are used when making the unit, much less the population. So it's really how the combat looks to be in real time when you watch it, *even though the calculations are made well before the animation completes* and how technology influences your unit's build. You get access to spearmen, but you can outfit with what materials they use in their weaponry. Like I hope they have unique technologies from alien discoveries, like stellaris' secret technologies that unlock through gameplay.@@CausticSpace
Hmm prehaps a physical demonstration of some of these mechanics later or open beta test at later date. To try out diffrent mechanics. Grew up on civilization. Played humankind the city building was fun, but combat not so much. It was more tedious chore then fun. So from what i am understanding of camera it has more aspect from newest master of orion game which is pretty old game now. where you can watch the battle unfold yet you can't manually control stuff like in masters of orion and combat can take more then one turn depending on troop sizes however you can reinforce if you make it in time.

@arahistoryuntold in the steam page only appears that the game will be single player and I want to know if this will have the multiplayer game option or this will be a single player game?
Idk how I feel about being forced to fight. What if I’m out numbered and rather retreat so I can link that force up with 1 or 2 others to swing things in my favor?
It's a great game but I believe that you guys should've let us build like an example here like if I choose the Aztecz then why can't I just build what the Aztecz building in their time that way to advance unto the modern times but it's my opinion but other than that it's an awesome game
combat being so hands off is my only gripe ,they need to make more engaging combat for domination victories, this looks too hands off to be engaging enough for long play throughs.literally the only thing holding this game from taking on civilization is the combat system.
I'm excited for this. However, I think one of the biggest downfalls is literally the title. Civilization is pretty obvious. ...ARA?... No one knows what exactly this is? An acronym? A world? A universe? It's not a great hook.
The game looks beautiful especially the animation of the leaders. But there are two big downsides. These are simultaneous moves and repeating unique abilities for nations, as in civ 3. It would be better if there were moves in turn and the abilities of all nations were like in civ 6, everything is perfect there. The only thing missing in civ 6 is leveling up the unique abilities of nations while playing like civ Beyond Earth. Ara the game will not be interesting to play more than a few times, because you don’t feel the unique bonus of the nation and different gameplay for each nation
So far it's the only weak point of this game. Combat based on micromanagement and decisions(like in civ or TW series) would be better, and would have propelled this game even further imo. Still going to give it a shot 😬

Everybody knows civ and AoV, but everyone is forgetting about the GOAT of this genre, 2003 game of the year, Rise of Nations.
exactly
I want Rise of Nations 2.
This video should be uploaded on Xbox main channel as well for better and bigger reach to audience.
True
Satch seems like a great guy to be making decisions for Ara. I'm looking forward to learning more about the game.

I got whiplash from seeing Stakuyi at first, but honestly, he's a great host for this
Can't wait to see more of this and learn more about the game
Hi
Same I just came here to watch him

So happy with Xbox providing their customers with a ton of gaming variety. Can't wait to play this game for sure.
Combat looks a bit hands off. Does the player issue commands etc during battles or just chose the units and formations before it starts?
think of stellaris but made turn based.

This is not a war game, so no. This is economy game with math based simple combat simulator and rather nice animation.
@@haukionkannel nice to know. Not for me then
Fantastic looking game! We are watching VERY VERY closely!
I thoguht i was imagining things when i saw stakuyi intoduce himself. Can't think of a better, more fitting host, though 👍🏼

came here because of stakuyi and now I am going to add this game to my wishlist
hope the battle cam does well when it comes to 20th century warefare.. or naval combat. ... not a wargame.. .. plans to conquer all by force.
This gam looks so AMAZING 🎉🎉🎉 I'm definitely going to buy it. Its look like can compete with best of all time for me civ V. I'm so hyped 🎉🎉🎉
The combat system looks similar to what we had in the Call To Power series, kind of
Imagine my surprise when I open this video and I see the history tiktok guy!
@arahistoryuntold in the steam page only appears that the game will be single player and I want to know if this will have the multiplayer game option or this will be a single player game?
This got me excited!
Please hurry D: I want to play this ASAP!
I truly love your channel. Keep doing the best work. 😊❤️
Great presentation, cheers
4:03 the ship in the middle looks different, hinting a naval East Asian civ?
cool cool
Idk how I feel about being forced to fight. What if I’m out numbered and rather retreat so I can link that force up with 1 or 2 others to swing things in my favor?
No you can not. If you are smaller don’t go near enemy armies, aka move away before you are in combat range
Very informative thank you🙂
Great job Satch ..
How many armies can you stack together?
I´m happy that this is not a war game!
Holy guacamole it's probably coming to Game Pass if Xbox Game Studios is involved
hey stak (Steven) have you ever played command and conqer its a real time stregy game really fun I do hope ara untold is also as fun

Sounds like a AAA game inspired by Rise of Kingdoms when Rise of Kingdoms is a freemium game inspired by Civilization...
So no combat? :) Just animation?
Yes.
Yes
What is ARA anyway folks? Can somebody clarify it?
I dont know what i could write, but a comment its a comment for the platform, so, hello people from the internet. :n
I'm excited for this. However, I think one of the biggest downfalls is literally the title. Civilization is pretty obvious. ...ARA?... No one knows what exactly this is? An acronym? A world? A universe? It's not a great hook.
Should've been called "ERAs"
Count me as one who favors automated battle resolution. Deep tactical battles (e.g. Humankind) is not why I play 4X.
+1 subscriber
show gameplay
the combat looks like automated. We will not going to control our army at all ;].
Yes! This is not a combat game. This is economy simulator
sound amazing but looks like a joke to me. whats up with the roads?

modern age ? modern war ? no just 1000 old ages games
Basically Age of Empires on Steroids?

😳 'Promosm'
9.34 minutes of talking I’m still none the wiser how combat works 😂
ARA arrival on market it will be a nuts in the balls for the Civilisation downfall, from civ6 it was a cartoonish failure.
Very hands off. No interest in this game now.
To much buzzing not much honey, guys less talking more gameplay
nothing new and special ,boring
Sus.
looks trash
Hey its the tiktok guy :O
