    Have you seen the “new” Dreamtime Crystal? Well that’s a Swarovski Crystal, repackaged under a different name. I first saw a comparison video on UA-cam and saw absolutely no difference, whatsoever. It was then later confirmed to me by somebody in the industry (and former Swarovski employee) that yes, it’s just repackaged. I knew it was suspicious when I saw that the Dreamtime Crystal, a “brand new” brand, was priced HIGHER than Swarovski. So check them out😉✨

      Artbeads did the same thing. They call them "Prestige" crystals.

      Update: Dreamtime Creations just announced that the “Dreamtime Crystal” is manufactured in Austria.
      Sorry.
      It’s not a new crystal. No way.

    They are shooting themselves in the foot. It baffles me they are giving millions of dollars of sales on a platter to Preciosa. I think it’s a little too late for Swarovski to want exclusivity. They could have kept selling to the DIY community and have another super exclusive line for the designers. To each their own.

    • @Danysska
      @Danysska  3 роки тому +1

      Sounds like a great idea. It's a shame they didn't do it that way.

      @@Danysska I’ve read that there is some serious infighting going on in the Swarovski family and that the CEO, who happens to be a family member himself, decided to take sides and proceed with this ridiculous move. This guy is doing nothing but alienating a lot of people, including the DIY community who was willing to pay more for their crystals. Let’s wait and see how this is going to pan out 🤔 Several bead suppliers such as Potomac and Dreamstime Creations have launched their own line of crystals so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

    I was in a Swarovski store a couple days ago in the Rochester, NY area, even they thought it was a big mistake.

    • @Danysska
      @Danysska  3 роки тому +3

      On the one hand, I understand their move. They probably want to alienate themselves a bit more to give a more exclusive impression. Even if it's just plain glass, they can cut it perfectly. If they had it set up that way from the start, no one would even care that they don't offer their crystals for the DIY segment. But if they take them away, they're gonna piss a lot of people off.

    It's so sad because I've been working on a project for 4 years now. It's cost me about 20 grand so far. I was gonna be so proud to be able to say that the crystals were 100% swarovski. Not so proud anymore but will still say they're swarovski. I paid too much money to NOT do so. Got thousands of dollars of stuff on hold at two different crystal shops, thanks to the owners.
    I understand they lost a lot of money at the start of the pandemic when businesses couldn't pay their bills but I can't accept the attitude of the new "Boss." "Swarovski crystals on a 10€ t shirt do nothing for our brand." Well...you weren't complaining when crystal sales were lining your pockets. Bad business move.
    Thanks for the video.

      To Our Valued Customers:
      We regret to inform you that Preciosa will implement a global price increase for 2022. This increase is because of increase production costs, labor cost and raw materials. It is in line we what we are seeing globally across many industries.
      Prices of Crystal Components will go up about 5%. Some selected group of products may have a larger price increase.

    I know I'm a bit late here, but what can I do with my Swarovski stash? I haven't made any jewelry for several years due to lack of space, and I have many, many different components and beads. Can I not do anything with them now?

    • @Danysska
      @Danysska  2 роки тому +1

      You're definitely not late, I follow the comments all the time :) According to the official Swarovski rules, you can use them normally, but you must not state that they are Swarovski components when you sell them. Or otherwise imply that they are them (like marking them as crystals from Austria). But in real life, I've seen that not everyone follows this.

      I’m late to your lateness;) I have the same problem. Probably, ooohh, a grand in “Austrian” crystals. And I honestly think, at least in the US, where I would be selling jewelry from, as long as my advertising is truthful, a brand that sold them to a wholesaler who sold them to me cannot, after the fact, tell me that I cannot advertise using their name. They made the crystals, sold them and I purchased them from an authorized distributor. A brand can’t say “well, we’ve got a new CEO who says we’re high end now and can’t sell to you and therefore you can’t use our name when you use our product.” That is not legal. Think of it this way: imagine you are a vintage reseller and a clothing company says “anyone who sells distressed levis can not use the brand name levis”or say you used old Gucci fabric to make a new dress. You can’t be told you can’t use the name “Gucci” as it relates to that fabric. I can’t think of good examples but i think you know what i mean… Not only did they cost so many people who supported them for decades so much money (think if all the sellers, the kits, the books, the ambassadors, the magazines and blogs and pro beaders etc etc) then they say “whatever you have left, you can’t say it’s ours”

      I am thankful to have grown a large stash of crystals for my own jewellery projects. I realise I can’t sell anything stating made with ‘Swarovski crystals,’ but the quality speaks for itself. In fact, although I’m writing this in February 2023 there are still a few beading stores in the U.K. selling individual loose stones. I absolutely understand why Swarovski are limiting their availability, as their value will also rise, especially as their ‘chosen partnerships’ will only be setting them in precious metals.
