  • I bought another camera from the shop that is fast becoming my favourite, CEX. It is a Sony DSC HX200V bridge camera. It has an 18.2mp CMOS 1/2.33 inch sensor with a 30x wide angle zoom lens. This equates to 27mm to 810mm on a full frame or 35mm camera. Not bad eh? It also does 1080p 50fps in pal regions and 60fps in NTSC regions.
So far it is performing well in both stills and video. Stay tuned for more video from this camera.

I have an old Sony HX 20V still going strong...Just after a year it started giving trouble. A buzzing sound started coming from the lens. Brought it back to the shop...They told me that it would cost me €100 to get evan an estimate from Sony as to how much it would cost to fix it...I have constant on/off trouble with it since then...The buzzing comes and goes..right now it seems to be working ok. This seemed to be a problem with a lot of these cameras at the time from what I read on the internet. Do you think Gary that camera phones are taking over..It's difficult to see any difference in the quality especially when most folks watch images and videos on mobile phones...Thanks for the review.

Hi Michael. I bought this one recently and it could be up to 12 years old but in perfect condition. So far so good but I plan to take it on a long trip and all the little foibles will become clear. I definitely think that mobile phones are putting a nail in the coffin of compact cameras and you always have them with you. Their quality has is excellent nowadays, even from more budget phones. Only real advantage of this type of camera is the long optical zoom which mobile phones do not have. I trust all is is well. Thanks for your support on the channel.
