Throughout his storied Hollywood career, Norton has received multiple awards, nominations, and accolades for his work. He first found fame in the 90s after earning high marks for his portrayal of a psychopathic altar boy named Aaron Stampler in the 1996 thriller Primal Fear. Norton went on to become one of the most renowned actors of his time, earning a total of three Oscar nods while making notable appearances in critically acclaimed classics like American History X and Fight Club.
But in case you haven't noticed, in the last decade or so, Norton has appeared in fewer and fewer films. This could be because he has earned a rather nasty reputation among his colleagues for being pretentious and notoriously difficult to work with, but then again, maybe he simply decided to take a break from acting. After all the 53-year-old is now a father and devoted husband. It wouldn't be that surprising then to find out that he simply has different priorities these days. Watch this video to find out the truth about why you don't see Edward Norton onscreen anymore.

He should've created his own production company to make movies as he envisioned them, if as an actor you become too opinionated about the work you're given then you're labeled as difficult, it's always been that way in Hollywood.

@@FactsVerse I’ve always liked his version of Will Graham from the Red Dragon, as well as Aaron Stampler from Primal Fear, but there’ve been many other roles he’s done that have given me that acting push as well. So if I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure which role of his I love specifically, I just grew up loving his acting from a young age. I can only practice for now to be just as good as him in the acting field before I truly audition.

I think he's acting less 'cause he chose to. There are many more actors with far worse scandals who are still getting jobs, so I don't think he's blacklisted. I can imagine though that people are cautious before approaching him as he doesn't seem to eagerly audition for many roles . I saw an interview where he said that Rian Johnson explicitely called him to act in Glass Onion and his wife told him to get off the couch. And he really appears in supporting roles for Wes Anderson as they seem to get along. It's unfortunate that he's acting less and it has become more of a hobby for him but he seems to be happy and still it's always delightful to see him on screen.

Rumor has it, it was more than Ed being difficult to work with. Let's just say he had several "friends" in Hollywood while he was still in school, then did most of his work for those "friends". Great actor. Not so sure he's a good guy. Shame. Hollywood isn't what we think it is. Remember, they are actors.

Norton is a good actor, but I feel he's a legend in his own mind. His attitude reminds me that of Tony Franciosa in his day. Both are and were just actors, not neurosurgeons or rocket scientists. If you don't love and have a true passion for acting, find a real job.

I don't know why anyone would think a good actor wanting to tweak a movie that THEY ARE ACTING IN (to make it better or more realistic) is being a "jerk." IMO that's part of movie-making.
Nor is it rude for any actor to be picky about what he/she commits to -- being hard to convince to play a role must mean you're good at what you do - if everyone wants you to try out for a role, that is.
I do wish there were more movies with Edward Norton, particularly when he was adorably young (late 90's - early/mid 2000's)
