Cheers Keith. I didn’t either. I bought the full Plaig bearing kit including the motor bearings then realised the kit motor is fully sealed so started looking around on eBay. The manual says to only fit truck specific motors and this was the only Tamiya one I could find.
I hate to ruin it for you mate but it’s pre-painted. Metallic black with clear flat coat over it. Looks awesome. I do have a secret hard body custom paint project in progress at the same time as doing this. If it comes out as I hope, I will release a video when it’s all done 😉
@@buildrestorecustomise2060 no worries, I wanted to save myself some work and also interested to see a factory hard body paint job. The other body isn’t for this truck, it’s for a different chassis…☺️
@@jason.bochniak Watching it I was thinking the very same thing. I thought about getting one back in the day, but never did, because of space, even though I used to drive them as a heavy equipment operator in another life time. I do have a collection of 1/24th Scaleworks Kenworth haulers and those are 3 feet long (almost a metre) which already take up a lot of space. Looking forward to your next video on these! Might have to change my mind and get one..
@@jason.bochniak 😅 HA, maybe, but it's been a while, plus I only did deck work, never pulled a van or tanker, though with the fluid sloshing around, I would imagine it would be quite the ride even with the dividers inside the tank.
How fast do you think it will go with that motor in all the gears? Last Year in the united states Is speed run contest with the semis And one person I can keep sixty plus miles an hour.
That sounds amazing! To be honest, I have no idea. This is my first truck build so you are coming along with me as I go, mistakes and all. I think it will fly when it’s up and running!
Awesome update and transmission build. Never realized Tamiya does a truck specific motor. I usually just throw a 55 or 80 turn in.

Really enjoying this build series! Can’t wait to see what paint scheme you choose!!👍👍

@@jason.bochniak I had completely forgotten that you had the special edition! Excited to see what you do with the second body now though!👍👍

Great progress. Looking forward to building one of these soon.
Thanks Trey, can’t wait to do some more, love it!
Very cool! 😎
Thank you, Never really been into trucks but this is a fantastic build to do.

@@noidnomis it’s going to be massive with the fuel tanker lol. I had to make space for it before starting the build. Will need its own shelf!
That means you’d be able to reverse it properly with the tanker attached, I’m going to fail miserably at that 🤣

That sucks that you can't put the ball bearings in there.
Tell me about it. I did think about gluing the bearing in there but didn’t. There must be a reason why not. The Tamiya gods spoke so I listened 🤣
