    As a Walmart Bobby fisher that was swallowed by a talking carnivorous whale, and then solved a chess puzzle to save mine and many other people's life's, I see this video as an absolute win.

    At 4:40, is there anything actually wrong with a8=Q+ ? I calculated Kb6 Qb8+ Kc6 Rxc2 Rc1 Qxb2 and it seems like white is winning, just not as quickly as the line you showed.

    3:15 The king can move left, and then the rook has not choice but to check the king at the same file as the queen, which lets the queen take it, and the black king more squares to move.

    Looking up that pawn and rook pattern to find this study, I found an interesting one by Tigran Gorgiev, Schakend Nederland 1966-1967 (published January 1967), 3rd commendation (number 806 in the magazine EG, so that should be a very early issue). Maybe you want to look at that one, I can imagine our heroes could enjoy it.

    There's one other line that you didn't cover and which looks like a win for black.
    If after Rc1, black doesn't waste a move with b2, but instead immediately goes after white's pawn, white must run with it to avoid losing it but then black can escape.

      Then a8=Q is a tablebase win for White, e.g. ...b2, Rxc2, or ...Rxc1, Kxb3.

      BTW, after we play king c3 in the main line, what about if the king goes back up to a4? We can't go back to c4 or we're just going to repeat moves so we have to make a queen, but then I don't see an easy checkmate even if white should eventually be able to win.

    After Rook D4, King B3, and if Rook B4 (only check that can't be captured by the queen), King A3. Only two checks can be captured by the queen... But Queen to B3 is still stalemate! 😮 Damn.

    I am missing something, I'm sure...
    If at the 3:08 mark, the king moved to c3, the rook could not move to d3 without being captured by the queen. And the black king could move, so it wouldn't be a stalemate, would it?
    I must be missing something, given that I'm an extremely novice player.
    Let me look at it again...
    EDIT- thank you to the person below for pointing out that if the white king moves to c3, the rook goes to c4 and does a reverse pin.

      In the case of Kc3, Rc4+ skewers the queen, forcing a draw, either by Kxc4 (stalemate), or Kb3/d3 Rxc2 Kxc2 (insufficient material).

    Sorry, but no, you couldn’t really live inside a whale. 1) Whales, like other mammals, have a digestive system where the stomach contains hydrochloric acid and bile. At best, this would be unpleasant, to say the least, at worst, well - let’s not get that graphic - this is a channel about chess, not biology, after all. 2) Then there’s breathing. You’ll need air. Also, Whales can dive pretty deep. I hope you can hold your breath a long time. Oh, and then there’s Nitrogen Narcosis, not to mention, “the bends”. Just ask any Scuba diving instructor. Please, kids, don’t try this at home. 🤣 Do try solving the chess puzzles; it’s a lot safer!

      The Hebrew word in Johah simply means "big fish", and neither does the account say anything about whether or not Johah was alive the whole time. However, in any case, if you want this to be about chess then commment about chess and keep the condescending science lesson to yourself. It's Nelson's channel and he can talk about whatever he decides. If you don't like that then you don't have to be here, do you?

      There are many miracles in the Bible. Jonah surviving inside of a big fish (as said above, there was no Hebrew word for whale, so we don't know exactly what kind of sea creature it was) pales in comparison to the resurrection of a days-old dead human being.

      I just find it slightly poor taste to even mention the story of Jonah because it's only tangentially related. Like I get it, but I'm here for the chess puzzles

And obviously you won't find a single chess youtuber anywhere that speaks 100% about the game of chess. To me it is bad taste for you guys to jump on him for a remark that you clearly dislike because it doesn't line up with your worldview. Learn to tolerate the views of others and we will all get along better.

I am completely fine with people having their own worldview, just against people saying that it is the truth. There is no objective truth, only things that are more likely based on evidence. And I'm totally fine with him making claims on his own channel, I just find it in bad taste. Just because you tolerate something, doesn't mean you have to take it at face value. To me, it is in bad taste that you take the worst possible connotation of my messages. If you antagonize others, they're more likely to bite back. Heard of the golden rule?
