  • Detailed lecture on palmar arches of hand. Like arches of foot are also arches in hand and they are namely transverse and longitudinal arches of hand. The transverse arches are two in number the proximal and distal transverse arches. The proximal transverse arch is fixed whereas distal transverse and longitudinal arches are mobile. The palmar arches function to improve the stability and mobility of hand, it also enable hand to grasp the shape of object, also increases the sensory feedback of hand.
