You're going to be flying a "Jolly Roger's" themed F-4 Jon, so the black ordnance kit will fit in nicely as I recall from seeing them in F-4's years ago! Maybe, SkyMaster will "steal" your changed gear door configuration for the next generation of the F-4.
My favorite Jet!! Great video of great builds! I'm amazed at how accurate the cautionary and warning info stencil-markings are on the paint scheme. VERY REAL. Gonna be real cool when those are done and flying!
Yea! it seems lots of people share the same love for the F4's! They are going to be very unique in sound as well. The single with the BIFIB pipe will have a unique growl and the twins will sound like cool twins do!
Im so glad to see this getting done! Both versions since you never know what you may end with down the road and this jet is definitely on my to do list one day. Probably next year after my T One models A10 conversion. Thanks Jon for all your awesome info as always!
Thanks David! It's been a unique one so far. Some of the stuff is easy as it spans across both models but once you get into the fuse and equipment it's 2 completely different aircraft.
Hey Juergen. Def. a possible solution but here is the 2 sides to the options. - installing a locking servo adds one more connection to the wing and more complexity to the wing and systems. The thin wings are already tight at the connection points to the fuselage so adding another connection isn't a huge deal but its a negative. - with poor door and cylinder geometry there can be issues with it always working 100% of the time. Often with poor geometry one end of the stroke suffers so in the case of the F4 stock setup it's the closing portion of the stroke. so with unreliable geometry you could run into issues with maybe door doesn't close in time for lock to opperate or lock opens and door doesn't open properly. So my thinking, better to correct geometry to pull properly in all positions of the door. On something like the big hawk we just finished. The door geometry is good but the door is just so dang large that a lock was a good, simple sollution.
Hey Edwin. Thanks for chiming in on this as it's nice when others notice. I didn't change cameras but I have be learning about some of the settings on it and it's nice to hear that it helps.
Haha. Thanks. It was actually just my ND filter. There is so much light in the shop that camera acts like being outside. So turn that on and BOOM. Much better.
@@thelightersideofrc thanks, a pet project, which is cursed. Well I have cursed at the failures over the last 12 years . Started about 20 years ago, it a pretty plane, I went to photograph details of it at WPAFB museum. The plane was gone, I ask the staff where for the next two hours they had no idea? The plane was displayed it a spot surrounded by larger planes, moving it would have taken some time and effort. Yet there was no knowledge of its move. I made fun of the missing plane on social media, air force sent me a testy email, it's been removed for new paint . 7 years go by, I offer to help with the paint, after all I have some old brushes in the shed that would clean up nicely. Next day, it's status was changed to in storage. Beginning of curse. Several prototypes have failed , each a unique failure. Oh well , I have grown old , it may never get done, shame it would be one of a kind at the field .
Another one of my favorite aircraft.. First time I saw one was the Thunderbirds. I do have a question about an earlier build. I know it's been awhile, but on the F15 I noticed the main landing gear didn't rotate 90 degrees like the full size.. Is there a reason for this? Enjoy your content, and Keep On Keepin' On
Hey Kenneth. The F15 gear from FB Jets is available in rotating and non rotating. The owner chose the non for simplicity and more durability over time. Thanks for watching!
4:00 My guess is your version (the older one) will be noticeably heavier than the one built on a foam core. I'm _not_ going to hazard a guesstimate on how large the difference will be though. edit: Closer than I would have predicted TBH, I was thinking it would be closer to a 2 kilo difference in just the airframes (not including the engines, tankage and electronics.
Hi Jon I am considering doing one of these jets as well. Can I ask for a measurement, the distance between the rails on the twin? I’ve got 2 older 120 size turbines just want to make sure they’ll Fit. Also to confirm this is the Skymaster F-4, the smaller one, this isn’t the giant F4 they have right?
Hey Steven. I believe the older 120's will fit. The Xicoy 120's needed extensions build to mount the turbines. Shoot me an email and I can get you any measurements you need. These are the 1/7.75 scale ones. so the middle size one. Not the 1/6th scale.
hi, i love your videos and i hope you keep doing them like this.i thought your idea with the giveaway from the f.4 was great. could you maybe do something like this again? I have one more question, how can you buy all these planes when you calculate that each one costs around 20k?
Thanks! We have some give aways coming soon! They vary a lot depending on aircraft and size and complexity. Many of my builds are for customers/clients.
I believe that _most_ of the builds shown are for customers who don't want the "fun" of building the kits themselves. Or they don't want to dedicate the time to doing it.
Don't fly a lot of that stuff but for pure simplicity and enjoyment the Carbon Cub (I think it's called that). is a great choice. The one that uses a 6s battery. Fun and easy flier. For something more sporty there is many avanti foamy's that are a great choice for a EDF. Great airframe to fly!

Thanks! I think so too! Will help with visibility I think as well. I think many F4 owners hope for that change on the kit's.
You know what the guys you build for are missing? All of the fun building!
Haha. Some enjoy watching it all come together on UA-cam 😉
What a great way to pass the time on a very cold Saturday morning. Thanks Jon!
Sweet! Thanks Noel!😊
Finally I get my F4 build(s)!! Looking forward to it.
WOOHOO!😎🙌😊

I like the double build with 2 different generations - can't wait to see the two F-4's in a formation fly by🤟
Thanks! Yea it's fun having these 2 gens going together! Hopefully Montana Jet's at end of May we can get 2 F4's up together!
Wow! pretty impressive. Thanks for the video, quality done as usual
Much appreciated! Thanks for watching!
Another great video.. very nice work on the wing doors..👏🏻👏🏻.. Thanks a lot Jonathan 🙏🏻
Thanks David.
Building my own 1/7.75 F4E long nose as we speak. I’ll be following along as you build these as well
Awesome John! Congrats!
This is going to be an interesting PRO-ject. You're about to build an F-4 squadron!
HAHA. Thanks!

Oh yeah! F-4 Phantoms! Niiiice!
Heavy metal Phantoms!
It’s amazing what you can do to save weight.
Yea! Very true!
For the landing gear door, would it not be easier to install a simple locking mechanism instead of the remodelling?
Hey Juergen. Def. a possible solution but here is the 2 sides to the options.

Love these builds. F4s are beautiful aircraft.
Thank you very much! Yea the F4's are unique! Lots of cool stuff packed into a small fusleage!
Oh boy, been looking forward to this!
Thanks for watching!
It’ll be interesting to see the final weight of the airplanes. 😊
Yea totally agree!
Beautiful model Mr. J. Did you change cameras?. nice crisp video

Is there an RF-4B Phantom available? Need starting point for YRF-4E build.
Not sure. I know you can get long nose and short nose

@@thelightersideofrc From the looks of it, the difference in weight between the twin vs the single setup will even out the airframe weight difference.

That Canadian math must be different. I thought it was 110 grams difference versus 90.
Could be. Was doing it on the fly in my head so errors may exist!
How much for the old skull and crossbones?
to buy this one or order one?

Thanks for the pornografic video mate!😂😂👍😎😎

whats the price tag on one of these . kit $ and electronics $
fully built, turn key with everything your probably in the range of about 16k - 18K depending on options.

Hey Don. No. No insurance coverage available
