As a jaded 49 year old gamer, it's rare that something I buy meets my expectations. It's amazing what this thing does for immersion! I love it. It's incredibly immersive in VR. I can only imagine what it would be like on a motion rig. This is a MUST have for a flight sim rig!!
@jay-rus4437 it's never happened for me, but the more you use it, the more you learn that having it turned way down is the best. You want subtle vibrations when you perform certain actions, like adjusting the flaps. It's way more realistic like that and also easier on the unit.
Same for sim racing. Feeling the growl of a 60's muscle car, the rumble strips and thump of every shift. Even idling in a F1 car is great. Couple with The Logitech z906 surround sound system adds more immersion. I've had Buttkickers in my home theatre for years and knew I'd be happy, especially with the Hapticonnect telemetry.
It is a huge upgrade. I use Simshaker for Aviators software with it and I can feel the bumps on the taxiway heading down to the runway. I use it for DCS also and the first time I used it I had it turned up too high. I landed on the Carrier with the F-18 and a picture fell off the wall, lol. You can use the onboard sound on your motherboard. You don't need a separate one.
I have the exact same setup as you and had the same issues with overheating. The nlr chairs dedicated mount for the buttkicker is the issue, it dampens too much of the vibration. I moved my buttkicker to the middle crossbar infront of the seat itself and since then ive never had it overheat, i even had to turn the buttkicker down.
gets even better for racing. i have 2, one under the seat and one under my pedal plate. You need to mess with the settings and its just as close as motion. i feel abs and slip under my feet and engine vibrations and such under seat
The hapticonnect software I find works so well in flight simulator. The rpms in a cessna feel so good on the rig, along with the flaps and landing, also taxiing. I never used the sim haptic, only the hapticonnect.
Atta Boy"! Lat time I was flying into KDWH under the TCA... spotted a Continental Mad Dog on final into KIAH.. that's 20 years ago. Miss flying dude. Enjoy !
There is one big problem using a butkicker, you won't want to fly without it. Your rig is dead, the motors must be off, it's just not on. I use mine mostly with sim racing and if there is a problem with it, amp settings, loose cable, whatever it is, I have no interest in using any sim without it. Great feedback in sim racing, and it doesn't hurt to feel a tiny little kick when the gear locks in fully retracted.
You know that you didnt need to put a new sound card in right? The BK Gamer Pro amp uses USB to connect to your PC, and Hapticonnect communicates through the amp via USB..
I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. I think it's a good investment for me since I play FS2020, DCS, Star Citizen, and Elite Dangerous. I think they all support it. I just read u on the overheating, and owners agree that a USB fan will give game sessions of 2-3 hrs.
I've had a ButtKicker gamer plus (attached to Herman Miller Embody) and initially thought it had overheating problems. In reality, it's that you have it kicking too hard and constantly. I get it; the initial phase of owning one has you wanting to constantly feel it, but trust me when I say you want it toned down soon enough. Real pilots can suffer the actual feeling of a plane's constant ricketiness that settles in your bones, that's not my goal for my flight simulation experience. Turn down the volume/power of the vibration effects on whatever effects are happening constantly -- especially full time engine/RPM, and for sim G-effects if you're constantly pulling them and then you'll be fine. The maximum power output of the Buttkicker is very high but it has a far lower sustained output due to heat. If it's firing at high levels, before long it'll quickly overheat and turn off. I know personally that cuting it to a certain threshold you'll discover over time, and it gives plenty and it'll sustain for however long your gaming session is.
For PC u only need USB cable, no audio cables at all to make sure the sims feed the telemetry data and NOT audio witch is not accurate , volume must never be at max , i keep it at 25 max
@@BluGames how often does it overheat? I've been interested but this puts me off spending the money on a device that can't handle the flight sim. Thanks!
The only thing that's concerning is it overheating. I mean, one could play whatever for hours. Shouldn't have to pause to let it cool down. Aside from that, this does seem pretty amazing. I like that they even have a setup for regular computer chairs. Going to look into this more. Thanks!
I’m really interested in picking one of these up. I’ve already got a next level racing GT Track Seat and Fanatec DD pro wheel base. I’ve upgraded the wheel to to clubsport formula V2.5, got he upgraded torque pack and brake load cell, got the VR headset for GT7 and for my next little upgrade I want the Buttkicker 👌
I lost my VR headset so I quit flight simming til I can get a new one, but not sure what to get now for my 3 year old rig. Been using ATS and ETS2 lately.
man you hyped me up sp much lmao 😆 I already bought simhaptic because of your vid although my buttkicker only arrives tomorrow cant wait to get home tomorrow :) I already have the hf8 haptic seat which is amazing with simshaker software and I hope the buttkicker adds some more clunk to it 😁 great video as an introduction
I actually have my frame suspended on two of the buttkicker BK-LFE's with a 1000 whatt amp processing through a separate sound. Simshaker for aviators is amazing. I just it for DCS. Picture your setup on crack and its worth every penny.
I would suggest a better amp, also I'd suggest a 4 channel amp. With a 4 channel you can simulate left side/right side/front/back or put one on the pedals and one under the seat. Just look into a better amp. It also will make racing sims a lot better. The default amp is just not ..great.
@@BluGames I use an earlier version of the Behringer NX-6000 with four Buttkicker Mini-LFE's for around my racing chassis but you could definitely use a 2 channel amp with two Buttkicker mini-LFE's or even just one. My issue with the Buttkicker Gamers is the same thing you found in that it overheats too quickly rendering it useless for a while. There are a lot of other transducers that can be used as well. Aura and Dayton make good ones to check out.
Bought the butt kicker gamer when it first came out the amp has fried itself but found a far better one but this is the best thing if you're playing VR.
If your wheels touch the ground with a descent rate of less than 20 FPS you will not feel the touch down: almost a perfect touch down. Try a hard landing: above 700 FPS?
Bro 😂😂😂 I can tell exactly when you called me. Oh yea I forgot to mention about the mouse falling problem 😂😂😂. Great review broski. That reaction was priceless.
Haptic feedback, via seat-of-the-pants 'feel', is a game-changer for me. If I forget to start it all I immediately quit and start over it's that good. AND it's cheap compared to something like a motion chair and such. Sim _feels_ dead without it and this feature is a close number 3 on the list of immersion gizmo's (VR, HOTAS, Haptic). It does need to be physics based and not sound based however.
Great video and I loved your initial reaction! I'm curious as to the logic of mounting the amp on / to the same seat that one mounts the Buttkicker. Won't the vibrations caused by the the Buttkicker shake the crap out of the guts of the amp and ultimately cause issues?? I know we are way past the days when we used tubes in amplifiers (I'm dating myself!), but still....
Good question. I wouldnt recommend it.. not sure u u saw but i ended up placing it on the floor next to me pc instead. But anywhere should be good as long as there is good ventilation
@@BluGames Thanks for the responses. Cool video. I have had my butt kicker for years. My dogs hate it. The vibration scares them and they go running. If it is over heating you need to turn the volume down. I ended up switching to a haptic pad. I like the controls and how that feels more but it makes the chair uncomfortable to sit on the pad so I will most likely be switching back to the butt kicker.
