The nurse mare is a good mother, very patient with Banksy and tolerant of his shenanigans. How lovely he is running with the other foal. Horses learn best from other horses. Orphaned foals never do well socially if raised by humans they need other horses to learn from. The mare and Banksy don't know any different they think they are natural dam and foal. He is a good looking colt with his beautiful white face.
I don’t know if it is just me but I don’t think that someone like Shelby should have to explain what she is doing we all know that Shelby always has the best interest for her horse

Unfortunately the people that know the least are generally the ones who make the most noise. I can't imagine the shit comments that Shelby has to deal with on the daily.

Shelby sweetheart, you don’t need to explain yourself, everything you have done for Scarlet and Banksy has been done with their best interests at heart, and with so much love. Banksy is a beautiful foal, and I love to see how he interacts with you, he trusts you so much, he has a super temperament and he moves so well too. It’s clear to me that he is having a wonderful and enriching time growing up and experiencing life, having Apollo to play with and have fun, but most importantly helping him to become strong and flexible while they play. Just keep doing what your doing, I for one love watching your journey with him, and feel honoured that your sharing it with us. X

No, no you did the absolute 100% best thing getting him a Nursemare. NO ONE should be judgy because you probably saved him from his birth mothers neglect. It was stressful for Scarlet. This is an ideal and extremely amazing situation he's in now. You're the best horse mama and I am so proud that you powered through and really let us know why you did what you did

While it is sad what happened to Banksy and his biological mother, I feel like in the long run he will do better with this mare than he would have his own mother. She is so good with foals and knows what she is doing and that is perfect for a little spunky foal like himself.
I also love how you aren't forcing Banksy and Scarlet to be together during inspection and rather explaining the situation and allowing the foal to be with Mikey.
I love the pasture and that there’s another mom and foal there. Best place to raise a baby.
You and baby Banksy are SO cute together! He has such a good life. I love watching him. His stepmom is the best. I bet she is proud to raise such a handsome foal.
He looks very happy and healthy, and the nurse mare looks the same and is a sweet girl to take such good care of him. He's a lovely foal with nice conformation, coloring, and temperament. He seems very affectionate, and that's good.

Banksys childhood looks really good! He has a lot of space and a friend to play with. I've been a subscriber about a year now and Shelby has taught me so much that I didn't know about horse behaviour. Like bucking isn't always because bad. I love to watch just how exited Milo gets when he's jumping! I'm sure Banksy is going to have the best life he could get. I support Shelby 100%.

also people really just need to accept that even through it isn't his birth mother banksy is being cared for and that's what matters. i think people are looking at it from a too human perspective and can't wrap their head around the fact that animals can and have rejected their babies. it happen and without shelby and the other people stepping in banksy very likely would have been seriously hurt or killed by scarlet and they made the best decision they could, no one want to speatre a mother and baby but sometimes it has to happen.
I think you've made the right decision with everything regarding the situation :)

oh gosh he's growing so fast!! he has so much spunk, what a character - those little freckles on his muzzle are so stinking cute. it saddens me that you even need to explain this in a video, though. parasocial relationships are toxic, people get the sense that everything that's presented is all that exists, and also the sense that they can openly comment on what they're seeing. some of it comes from a good place but it's even then a burden that's unfair to bear as it forces you to adjust your life to things other people's existence and their opinions. when their opinion is nowhere near as aware of the situation as you, the person living it.
you're doing your best and your best is stellar. you have an excellent system of people who know what they're doing including yourself and Banksy is doing so well because of it. as good as we are with our horses we can never communicate with them on the same level as other horses can, and it's very important that the communication is healthy and safe for him. having a loving parent is vital. his bond with her is so beautiful.

He is just a little doll! He's so pretty. You can tell he's going to be a wonderfully tempered boy too! Love his color. What color is his dad? You're so lucky to have horses. I always wished I could have had one. I grew up around my neighbor's horses though and we used to ride together whenever she'd saddle up both of hers. Looking forward to your next update!😊

The start of this video is r/zoomies material. And while what happened with Scarlett is sad, it ca,'t be helped, it was a first foal and it was stressing for both her and Banksy. I think it was the right call to separate them, and Mickey is a great nurse!
Idk why it's so hard for people to realize you are a person just like everyone else in this world. You owe us 0 explanations about anything because these arent our horses and what we say makes no difference on your decisions anyways. Why cant people just appreciate that you take the time out of your crazy busy schedule to even share with us?! I mean, we could be living in a YT world without Milo, Banksy, George, Archie, Scarlett, Simon (which I'm sure ppl are making comments about you selling him even though that was always the plan from day 1), and Roulette and anyone else I may have left out, but we arent. We are lucky enough that you share with us. I wish people could just appreciate that and keep the negativity and accusations to themselves. Take that energy and right their own wrongs instead of worrying about you!
Now.. aside from that. Thank you for the video and all the info you gave us, Shelby. I am really interested in the inspection part to as I've never witnessed or experienced that in any way. Take care and have a great day Shelby!
You are doing a great job. Don't worry about what folks say on SM you do what you know is right for your animals. Lots of people are not cut out to be parents and animals can be the same way. He is beautiful and healthy!!

Some studies show that keeping a colt intact, allows them to develop bone and muscling better. Having worked with brood mares and foaling out, I must say from what I've observed in 20 years, that the studies are true. They develop better. Best Regards from Ottawa, Jenn.

You are so educated and have sought educated people to help, which is the perfect thing to do with horses (ofc you know that, I’m just rambling lol)! I’m so glad that Banksy and his new momma are doing well.
I think you have done an amazing job. Finding a nurse mom for him. Mama's milk is so important to a foal. If you didn't step in she would of probably hurt or killed Banksy. So great job. Block people with mean comments. I had a dog once that was a bad mother, some animals just like humans make bad parents. Banksy is lucky to have you as his human mom. What a beautiful foal! Social media is horrible! I wouldn't think twice about those comments . People make rude nasty comments on social media because their lives are so boring and sad that they feel pleasure out of putting others down when they, themselves are pathetic and can hide behind their texts. Most likely if confronted, they would deny their posts and run away . I stay off of Twitter for that reason! I'm not in the mood for childish comments from those that haven't grown up yet!
