    This scene gives a lot of insight into the character of Snoop. Although a contracted murderer, she still appreciated the time the sales man took to explain the nail gun. She even gave him a tip! It's just the little things that make you appreciate the brilliance of the Wire.

      Ye, just started watching this shit lately. All the characters are heavily developed as fuck and thought out. What breaks them, what they react to (even Snoop got caught off guard during that one scene we shall not spoil which shows she got her limits too). Each of the main characters got their own agenda, their way of handling things, principles they follow and whatnot. The people working the police department and McNulty shows that a lot. I haven't seen season 5 yet, but so far Snoop may be my favorite character.

      Qunniefication I've seen the series through to the end now. And I got to say, the only character in the show I could understand on a personal level and really follow no matter what he did was Bubbles. Dude just tried to get by, you know? I loved several other characters as well, but I think Bubs got a special place in everyone's heart that watches this shit.
      Brilliant show, I can barely wait to re-watch it sometime in a couple months or so. Got to have missed out on some of the finer details the first time around.
      But damn, The Wire is extremely thought out, had no boring seasons or obvious filler-episodes. Just eps/seasons that personally was better than others, but none were bad/boring/filler and that's hard to achieve. 10/10 - going to watch again. Loved the show.
      Beside of Snoop and the tip, what are some other little things in the show that you noticed and just loved?

    • @Qunniefication
      @Qunniefication 10 років тому +5

      T3n50r So true, definitely have to love Bubbles. He was a good guy, so I was glad he cleaned up & got right in the end. My fave was Michael though. The kid was forced into the game...crackhead mom& abusive step dad, too bad he turns into the future Omar though. The best part of the series to me though is the parallel between characters. Dukie=Bubs, Michael=Omar, Naymond=Clay Davis, Randy=Bodie.

    What always got to me was all the imagery depicting things like the spinning rim, the merry-go-round, the kid playing with the tire, all of it a metaphor for the cyclical nature of The Game, and how the next generation would fill in the spots left vacant by the previous one. Season 4 set that up, and Season 5 saw it carried out.

    It's no coincidence that we got a montage of circular imagery. This season is about the next generation coming into the world, the cycle beginning anew with each of them as they become poised to replace the older generation. And the wheel keeps on turning.

    It's supposed to establish Marlo & crew as the new players. Snoop says they had five jobs (murders) last month, and of course, there's a whole lot of typical Simon-style irony at play. The guy talks in firearm jargon ("caliber," "fully automatic," etc.) and then recoils in shock when Snoop talks about the damage they actually do ("..break the bone"). Overall, it's just a darkly funny scene between a citizen and a soldier. No plot points beyond showing that Marlo's been busy.

    I love how Snoop still respects the working man doing his job, and doing it well. She's in the game, but she appreciates people who aren't

    @tjbayliss shes the same in real life. She fuckin killed somebody when she was 14 or something. Not only is she not annoying, she is one of the best female villains of all time.

    So since Snoop got sold on the powder actuated nailgun, Lester was able to realize that they were using the vacants as tombs from the different nail type

    @tjbayliss Snoop has to be one of my favourite characters on the show. I don't see how you can say that her voice is forced, knowing full well that this is how she speaks in real life! It's not your typical female voice, but it's her voice, it's just different. I agree with jumba202, step outside your comfort zone (even though I don't know if it's a white suburb), things that are/look/sound unusual to you are not necessarily "wrong"; they're just different.

    One of the themes of the Wire is that there is a hard law of the streets, that is perhaps not the law you or I would choose to live by, but that is also not pure barbarism either. Part of the law of the streets shown here is, if you give respect, you get respect
