My first tall building. Loved it. Done it another time since. The glass floor is weird because you don't want to get on it but when you do you don't want to get off. You absolutely should visit the Historic Dockyard when you can because all of the things in there are amazing. I got an annual pass so I could do everything in there. H.M.S Victory is the highlight but the other ships (H.M.S Warrior and H.M.S M33, the little one) are worth seeing, as well as the NMRN and Jutland exhibition and Mary Rose Museum.
Gunwharf Quays is great, it’s definitely visitor friendly, plenty to do and see. Just a shame it’s become dependent on tourists. It’s now just expensive shopping outlets. But apart from that, with the Historic Dockyards, Spinnaker, Submarine & Explosion museum across the way, it’s awesome. It’s great that it’s on my doorstep 👍
My friend lives in Gosport and the Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth is the view from her flat, well jealous. Lovely area and the Historic Dockyard is well worth a visit if you go back
Many Thanks for sharing your video of Portsmouth, omg! Absolutely fantastic view, fabulous walk through, thank you again. We have been to Portsmouth a few years ago. Never been up the tower, many thanks again.
Very good Shawn , Portsmouth has greatly improved over the last 10 years and is well worth a visit, historic dock yard is a must with the Mary rose and hms victory and you might be lucky to catch our new aircraft carrier in town
I WAS THERE WHEN YOU WERE THERE!! You can hear my parents talking in the background when you were doing the cool shots at the very top. Yes that was my mum joking about the chairs she and my grandma were sitting in lol! 👍 I commented this before but I deleted and re made my UA-cam account, I was the kid in the chair on ma phone by the way 10:50
I remember when it got painted from white into gold and blue as well Also the trains on the Isle of Wight are from 1938 and they used to operate on the London Underground
Dear Shawn, I look forward to your new videos and they are so nice. You describe them well. I have visited Portsmouth from Isle of Wight by fast ferry. We did not go up the spinnaker Tower, so thanks for your video to cover that. We however went to visit HMS victory in Naval museum. Portsmouth is really nice with so much naval connection. We went up to the city centre. Look forward to more of your videos.
Cheers for another exciting vlog & video, visited the Spinnaker Tower a good 10 years ago I think? All I know it was a long time ago since visiting. But its a good attraction to visit, go up and explore. Glad they picked the tower design they did as think with the first one, people would of been frightened to actually go up as it looks like two supports and a spinning ride, the other one just looks like a normal skyscraper that you would see anywhere. Good designs don't get me wrong, just think the right one was selected for the area in my opinion. Not really a big fan of heights lol, especially when it came to glass floors, I mean I managed to stand with my shoes on the London Tower Bridge Glass floors, for at least a few seconds on one and another at least I think a minute. But then got back off, but good two attractions worth visiting & seeing and experiencing in person. Will & might in a minute go and watch some of your Clarence Pier vlogs on other channel, if I haven't already watched them? But good video, keep up the good work and look forward to seeing more videos in future. 😀👍
The area reminds me of Baltimore's inner Harbor a bit. I've actually slept on the Constellation, which is a ship that has had a lengthy history of being active, getting retired, and active again (til the World Wars actually). There are definitely quite a few adventures you can do in Baltimore alongside a stop between Six Flags America and some of the boardwalk parks in New Jersey (Morey's Pier, Playland's Castaway Cove, Casino Pier, there are many others too)
Hello Shawn I'm new hear. I enjoy your videos on skyscrapers and other types of towers etc. I'm also a major! fan of super & Mega tall skyscrapers along with other types of towers. I also LOVE! the statue of liberty. I'm also a long time collector of souvenirs/figurines of them all etc. I'm a very long time major! fan of super tall & mega tall skyscrapers. I grew up in N.J. And over all the years i've been to (NYC) more times then i can count or remember. NYC is my favorite city in the world. I live in good old sunny Florida. New York City again is my favorite city and One World Trade Center aka The Freedom Tower is in fact my favorite super tall skyscraper.
Love your positive chirpy attitude! And FYI those huge yachts are invariably privately owned, though why they dock at Gunwharf I'm not really sure (as smart as it is, it's not like it's Monaco!). Anyway, glad you enjoyed the place! :)
P.S. the walk to Old Portsmouth is actually only 5-10 mins (though it's difficult to tell just by looking) - do check it out next time there's a lot of history there going back to the 1400s.
Great video Shawn,my home town, gunwharf quays is amazing, did you know the tower used to have an outside lift, but it was plauged with problems from the start,so they done away with it,I recommend you visit the Mary rose museum when you return,it's amazing 👌😀👍
We use to go to South Sea on holiday as kids, love the little ride attractions, hovercraft, and the history, and we to think that it reminds us of dubai, ha, ha.
Went to Portsmouth last month and explored all the way down to the sea life centre. Also, go to Portsmouth every year to go on the ferry to the Isle of Wight. Brilliant video and excellent shots 👍🏼
did you make a vlog of your Isle of wight trip that you mentioned at the end of this video? i visited in 2017, so i would be interested to see what you got up to and your thoughts of it if you made one?
Hiya I live near Portsmouth and apparently that big yacht is rented out for day experiences etc. I’ve never actually been to Clarence or Hayling theme parks but will deft give them a go after watching your vlogs on them today! Next time your down this way check out Portsdown Hill Road for the most amazing view of the Solent! There’s also a free gun museum there too!
Great video shuan. Are you going to visit the Mary Rose, I did a school project on that many years back. Was based in the dockyard if I remember. One of the many british disasters. I think 300+ died if I am correct. when it sank. Would love to see what it's like now. 😊
Hi shawn you should visit when the new aircraft carrier is there it's absolutely huge awe-inspiring just to see it and that it floats . Go back and check it out its great seeing all the naval history. It's worth going to old Portsmouth and spice island . I've been over to the Isle of Wight on the hover craft for the day . Great vlog shawn xxx
Shaun you need to go to the historic dockyard one day. Very close to the tower and loads to do, including the Mary Rose which is a fantastic museum! Great vid 👌
was this before going to clarance pier , it was a very nice tower it has aspects of the shard and blackpool tower walkway , shame its not owned by merlin , 11.5o aint bad price lovely views thumbs up
Shawn are you still doing theme park World wide I loved that channel this channel looks so cool but please tell me there are some theme park blogs in this one
No one has ever believed me. The yacht owned by a Russian billionaire its sadly not there anymore. The man was a very nice gentleman and used to take me around the world on it. Every time he was in Russia we would become “owners” top man and amazing vessel! 👍😃
shawn may i ask what country portsmouth is in? Or is it it's own country? it's a very unique tower it seems much shorter from views on the ground then it does while your at the top!! a very classy and tastefully done vlog once again!! i'm become accustomed to nothing but the best from your vlogs . You never disappoint !!!
Hi Shawn! I don't believe I have actually watched one of your videos before, however this video popped up on my recommended section and, as someone who's been born, raised, and still living in Portsmouth, I was intrigued. If it's alright, I'd like to give you an insight on what you saw! I work at the Historic Dockyard selling tickets, and I have been doing that for 1 and a half years. I can tell you that it is, in fact, free to walk around the dockyard, however if you want to go inside the ships and museums scattered about, that's where the ticket costs come in. These ships are between 200 and 300 years old (Not Including the Mary Rose, which is a 500 year old shipwreck from the tudor era - this ticket is not included in any of the Historic Dockyard Tickets, and has to be purchased separately) and any tickets/merchandise/gift-aid sold is to help upkeep these old ships so that they're still safe to walk around and see how it was back in the years. All of the tickets we sell are annual (£18 for 1 ship, £39 on the gate for everything, including unlimited boat tours and two other museums in gosport) so you are able to come back as many times as you'd like! However, if you aren't coming again after that visit, you can redeem a coupon on a website named picniq for £23.50 which saves you around 40% for all the attractions (and STILL for a year)! You can also get mary rose tickets on that site too. Sorry if I rambled there a bit, the place means a lot to me and I guess it's been engraved into my head as an amazing place, and I just enjoy seeing it flourish. I'm really glad that you enjoyed your day out, and I hope you'll be able to visit us soon. Regards, -M :)

I was up the tower last summer but I only had the lift to get me to the top of the tower then assailed the outside back down amazing views
You picked a good day for visibility!
Gunwharf Quays is great, it’s definitely visitor friendly, plenty to do and see. Just a shame it’s become dependent on tourists. It’s now just expensive shopping outlets. I left Portsmouth 55 yrs ago what a transformation !
I went up the tower on the same day as you! And it was for my mums birthday 😊
My friend lives in Gosport and the Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth is the view from her flat, well jealous. Lovely area and the Historic Dockyard is well worth a visit if you go back
Thanks for your suggestion
We love a visit to the Spinnaker Tower, my grandma lives very close by :)
I saw you!!! There and at Alton towers in August!!!
I saw the tower from Burrow Island and wondered what it was. Thanks for the tour. It was great!
That’s so comforting to have someone operating the lift for you. Just like the old days.
Many Thanks for sharing your video of Portsmouth, omg! Absolutely fantastic view, fabulous walk through, thank you again. We have been to Portsmouth a few years ago. Never been up the tower, many thanks again.

There is also mini golf near the arcades.

Ha my hometown. I can see The Spinnaker from my back garden x
My Great Grandfather left Portsmouth for New Zealand back in the late 1800s. Ran away from the navy I believe lol.
Fun video there, looks like a nice area. We have a Portsmouth here in Virginia as well, but yours looks much nicer than ours that's for sure.
Ahh..very nice place indeed..!!..I sure hope you go to the Isle of wight..would love to see it..thanx for vlogging this beautiful spot in the UK...☺
