@@nadinedia thank you - this means so much to us 🩷
58:07 "I can't sit here and say 'do you know what, it's okay if you engage with your eating disorder a little bit because recovery's really difficult'" !!!! Thank you for saying this. it blows my mind how often this is basically the sentiment from some well meaning clinicians/treatment providers trying to provide harm reduction approaches. I understand the intention, because in inpatient settings it's the opposite issue where there's so much shame and punishment for symptoms, but the reality is a life lived engaging with ED symptoms is never going to be a full life and there's no point in losing sight of that.

You should write a book
Hi girls! First of all, I'm really loving this podcast, it's been really helpful for me. I have a question: does an E.D. preclude to have a certain body type? I feel very invalidate because I've never reached a dangerously low weight but also I feel shame admitting this. Even though I've never been sickly underweight the psychological pain is real and I don't know what to do. Thank you! 🤎🧸
Not at all!! You can have an eating disorder at any weight. You don’t have to look a certain way to have one or to struggle the same as anyone else. Hope this helps and hope you find healing
@madorabl3 thank you 🤍 I always feel like an "impostor" and I end up thinking my feelings and pain is less important than others' 🫠
@@bibix7832 I too have felt this I completely understand that🤍
@@bibix7832 Almost everyone struggling with an eating disorder feels that for one reason or another. For some it's their weight, for others it's certain behaviours they don't struggle with, or a medical complication they never had. It's an awful mental trick that keeps you thinking you just need to get worse before you can get better, even when you know you're already struggling and want the pain to stop. ❤️🩹
EDs absolutely do not have a body type. Everyone's ED is different and everyone's body reacts differently. Most people with an eating disorder are not clinically underweight. You are not alone , your struggles are real and you are worthy of support and recovery no matter what your weight is 🤍
