The black plastic piece on the barbs is a hose stop for easier assembly. Also, the filter and fuel system will prime themselves just fine. I just closed the bleed and cycled the key to the "on" position (not cranking) around 5 times. After that it started up first crank. Thanks for the video. Always helpful!
One would never use the fuel in a old oil filter to refill a new filter. The clearances in the fuel pump is so tight that any diet will damage the pump. My friend has just bought a jeep with this engine and I am his go to maintenance man. There is a fuel pump in the tank so one does not need to prefill the filter. I just need to find out if one needs to manual bleed the air after a fuel filter is changed but I do not think this will be required with a pump in the tank. I have seen other youtubers treusing the oil fuel and this is just plain wrong
clear, concise, instrutive. I would just have transferred the bracket from old to the new filter, copying carefully its orientation. Oh, and actually using the diesel from the (dirty) old filter, it looked as if you also transferred debris into the new filter - I would use fresh diesel...
Thank you. it was very useful. My jeep is stocked for couple of days and there are 3 codes (p0204 po205 p0206 ) meaning there is a problem with all the injectors on one side of the engine. According to my obd reader, the rail pressure is at 4500 psi on crank. the engine fire but only on three cylinders . when I replaced the fuel filter, I noticed that it was only half full . Do you think the primary pump could be defective and at the same time, the high pressure pump would show the right pressure ??
Ah, you have noticed the "Elephant Hose Modification", which is a slightly anti-social adaptation to dump the positive crankcase ventilation overboard instead of throwing the vented oil into the turbocharger. An oil catch can is another solution.

2:18 - where did that melted skirt come from? And what is the new one for as you seem to discard it?
2:35 - why not use a funnel?

Thanks for the explanations, one question: for what reason was this red hose adapted?
