Hi,The dealership stripped the threads to the pan using an impact gun. They said it would be fine after they put in a heli coil..and new plug without a crush washer.Oil still seeping through to this day.
Hi Zac, and thank you for your video!. I have a 2007 JEEP Commander CRD with that same engine (M.B. OM642), have done it myself for the las 4 services...same way as you did. Do you have that torque spec. for the drain plug?, I use 33 N.m (24 lb.ft), but not sure if's the right one. Thanks!.
What is the size of a crush washer that you used? And I know you got the cap for the oil filter. Can I get that number off of there too? I have a 2007. Diesel, that needs a oil change.
Hi Zac. Great video, thank you. You say 'Mercedes want you to put half oil down the oil filter housing'. Can you show hard evidence for this, either from Jeep or Mercedes? I have never seen anything from either to support this. Thanks.
@@ZacsAutosports Hi Zac. You got an online link for this. I have had my Jeep for 6 years and never seen any hard evidence. Even from Jeep master tech's.
@@Nick-bp7jf if you're using Chrysler techs for information on this engine, I wouldn't recommend you listen to them. They don't have a clue how to service it.
@@ZacsAutosports I am in UK. 90% of all the Jeeps are Diesel. In fact after 2007 all Jeeps were Diesel. The techs know the engines inside out. I have been looking for years for something in writing from either Jeep or Mercedes to support this oil change method.
@@Nick-bp7jf well they aren't so knowledgeable in North America, I think I read it in a Mercedes service manual. Do it how you please but ill keep using this method.
@@marikmask6964 I wouldn't be too worried about high mileage as long as all the maintenance is up to date, I won't be surprised if this engine will make it to 500,000km
@@ZacsAutosports many people who live in Moscow region or other not so big city’s there cars can have not so big km size. But minimum 250k middle size 350k but I saw and more the 500k

I would make the dealership pay for a new oil pan.
👍👍👍

I can't recall the size, I just have a generic kit with many washer sizes

You'll see the main sensor on the roll bar above the rear engine

Mercedes service manual says it. That's why I do it.

Good video thanks. Which problems you had with this engine ?
Nothing besides regular maintenance, oil cooler seals and turbo actuator.

Whats this ticking noise? My commander does tbat to and i have no idea what it is
Most likely injectors.
Liqui moli 5w50
Thats what you use?
If you use that, the engine will run about 30k more kilometers before chain tensioner ultimately failing and obliterating your engine
