    I honestly don't understand why some ppl give pallets a bad repped. It is wood and reclaimed. I built so many projects with it as long as it is safe and strong. Nice job on the projects. I also built 4 good size sheds.

    In 50's my daddy built a friut stand with pallets and tar paper. It was fairly large, had space for mama's sewing machine. The place was a small berg at the crossroads of highway 6 (can't) remember the other highway. The place is called Arcola, TX

    A lot less than 50% of this shed is made from pallets, the rest is concrete, reinforcing bar, concrete blocks, planed softwood cladding, sawn timber, glazing and whatever was used to cover the roof. The pallets were just used for the carcass which is basic sawn timber anyway. A nice looking job but that is because the externals are covered in decent claddings which have been nicely decorated and we don't see inside.

      Thank you for all the likes everyone, Best way not to have a problem with merchants concerning pallets is to ask first . Now that pallets are trendy as building. Material , some figure to make some extra money! I don’t blame them , most people would do the same . As with any good idea. using “ free” materials , as the idea catches on someone will see a monetary opportunity there !

    You do not need foundations for any single story building. People built single story buildings for ten thousand years without foundations... then along came engineers and local governments. Many farm sheds remain standing for decades, after their wooden footings have rotted away.
    You also don't need to use concrete. Just mix clay and sawdust with linseed oil and it will create a floor hard enough to polish. There are youtube videos on making earth floors. Anchor the structure with fencing wire and fence pickets driven into the soil. Add mass to the lower walls by stuffing them with waste plastic bags full of clay or rubble.
    There is no reason to spend any money on such a project. You just have to be resourceful and patient.

    He put rotten termite infested firewood next to his pallet shed. The shed was destroyed within months. He cried. He didn’t find any comfort from Craig’s List. He went on to try and self medicate through street heroin and eventually overdosed. His life would have been different had he simply stacked the firewood somewhere else.

    pallets can be detrimental if they were used to ship chemicals on them and were exposed to toxic substances. You should only use them if you are positive they aren't contaminated. I have seen a guide to the marking that are used to communicate what they were originally designed to ship. look it up on the web before using them for enclosed spaces like this.

    I made a shed out of old packing crates and for a foundation I used railway sleepers (ties in the US) - it cost me only the cost of a few nails and screws plus some corrugated plastic for the roof. The rainwater from the roof was stored in large barrels that had been used for fruit juice. Great shed 8ft x 6ft for about £20 (US$27)

    Quaint, but how did he put the siding on on the side closest to the fence? You can't even walk through there! Extraordinary that he figured a way to use whole and portions of whole pallets for the skeleton of the barn. Wood storage exceptionally clever! Thanks for post!

  • @notsosilentmajority1
    @notsosilentmajority1 6 років тому +23

    It's a beautiful shed and apparently well constructed. People have finally begun to realize how great pallets are or can be. I have seen some nice looking smaller residential structures built from pallets. These things are very versatile and you can still find many of them for free. If some of them aren't made of the best of wood you can still use most of those for firewood.
    Take your time and don't get greedy. You can find some great stuff online and it helps to make sure you "give back" by offering some free stuff online yourself. I even offer some stuff for barter even though people are offering their items for free. I do this because it's the right thing to do and it builds a very good reputation for yourself online. Great job and God Bless.

    I live in New Jersey. Beings he put a foundation in that shed it would be considered a permanent structure. Which would require pulling permits to construct. And the fact it looks like it's only a couple feet off of his neighbor's property this would not meet code. My Taxes would probably go up $500 a year to build this shed. And I would be fined $1000. a month for having it so close to my neighbor's property.
