How to know God - The Hindu Way

  • Religion is all about how we can relate to God. Islam portrays Allah as an authoritarian figure that we must survive and obey, Christianity describes a loving God who gifts His saving grace. But none of the Abrahamic faiths go as far as the Hindu Bhakti movements in describing exactly what our connection with Divinity looks like. In this video we go through the different Bhavas or devotional states which exist at the level of the soul. The great scripture known as the Srimad Bhagavatham describes what these states look like and how we can attain the ultimate meaning to existence - Prema Bhakti.

At least you have a look at it! I consider myself agnostic but with deistic and pantheist views rather than theist like Christianity.
Wether there is something out there or not will always evade our human senses unless we evolves into other state of being.
For me, counsciousness and traumatic memories make me wonder if there's is something out there. I'm into seeing all this as Karma and if everything as self created itself, why are we not mindless psychopaths?
Planet Earth doesn't need any human or even animsls or insects in order to stand into the Universe. So why are we alived?
I have been following Richard Carrier blog over 2 years, an atheist who is one of the most proeminent mythicist on Jesus life and I couldn't get the idea that Random is the Godlike behind all of this.

Wow!!! This is so deep. I´m currently reading the Bhagavatam after having read other Vedic books on the activities of Lord Krishna, and it is the most awe inspiring piece of literature I´ve ever read. I have no problem in believing and grasp the meaning of it all. The big difficulty is letting go of our materialistic way of living, being caught up in Maya. Imagine how it would affect my work if I think of Krishna all the time. I would get sacked right away for making too many mistakes because my attention is solely focused on krishna. That´s why it´s a consolation to know that just hearing/reading about the supreme personality is a guarantee that one is bound to be reincarnated in a human form and not risk ending up being an animal, vegetable or rock.
Thank you for explaining things so clearly. Praise Krishna.

That's really sad. I also come from a Christian tradition and I see all of the states in this video as how we are to love and be loved by Jesus. As close friends - Christians are co-heirs with Christ, and can also enjoy Him as the disciples did. As a lover - we are the "bridegroom" of Christ. As parents/family - Jesus said of His followers "these are my mother and brothers." As servants - Christ should certainly be our master and our governor, and we should delight in respecting and serving Him. There is certainly an element of "fear God" in the Bible, but that is out of acknowledgement of His supreme power and holiness, a kind of respect that can still exist within the context of a healthy, loving relationship with the all-powerful. It sounds like your principal has accidentally subscribed to an idea of God that mirrors his own character rather than the Bible. Christian authority figures unfortunately do that a lot, don't make the mistake of judging our perfect God off the ideas of faulty Christians. I made that mistake and it is by God's grace I have recently returned to Him.

@Hᴜꜱᴛʟᴇ Lᴏʏ I am from the UK but of African descent.
I began meditation last year and the most wonderful ideas and experiences resulted from it. Not only was it beneficial for controlling the mind but other particular experiences resulted also.
I came to find that many of the "truths" from meditation are also found in Vedanta, with some phrases being the exact same.
I happened by chance onto the Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda and Raja, Karma and other works of Swami Vivekananda which hugely influential to me.
I also like how Hinduism is pluralistic in its approach to God. It is all-encompassing in allowing even those who do not believe in God to reach enlightenment. The Abrahamic religions declare only a single path through one of the prophets and this was a huge issue for me when attending church.
I do not consider myself Hindu since the ritual and mantra chanting aspects of it do not resonate nor appeal to me, but the scientific approach for truth and experiential methods proposed by the Yogis are what I am forever grateful for. They have changed my life!
      Sorry for the rant 😊🙏✌

WOW!!! I will leave it at that. I have to add that Krishna is a favorite among many Indians. Even more so than Rama. The reason is the leelas... He was a complete illustration for those of the Kaliyuga to come. I guess a beacon of sorts.

    hare krishna!
    very well done and summarized..
just as in the bhagavad gita the one word summary is for a seeker to "surrender" to God..
    surrender what?
surrender this ego (i am xyz, im rich, im white, im black,...) and accept God (the indwelling spirit in all) as the real...
    please continue your good work...

I deeply respect you for your knowledge of hinduism, ability to explain and willingness to protect the Dharma .
From what I have gathered, you belong to Sri sampradaya.
I do not officially belong to any sampradaya currently but I see myself as a
server of Vaishnava and will in future join one.
To understand and experience deeply about Hindu philosophies of jyana yoga there is a wonderful UA-cam channel in English and Hindi both as
    Tarun Pradhaan in English &
    Bodhivarta in Hindi
It nearly awakened me and helped me experience reality in a different way.
I would advice you to check it out, please.
    Thankyou 🙏

OM Thank You for the enlightening video. It was quite simple, put for ease of understanding about Hinduism (as the western world know us.) It was only the tip of the iceberg about understanding Hinduism, but I suppose you cannot overload all the information for people to grasp. You got to live as a Hindu to know about the religion.Hara Krishna
