Thank you for the Build! Can you please make a dragon shifter build? That would be great!
Feyform gives a strength bonus, and a dexterity penalty. Building around strength makes much more sense than dexterity... Saves you a feat on weapon finesse, opens up your necklace slot, and just generally uses the class features more optimally.
The main reason I went with DEX is because I wanted to try something different, as my previous Lich Shifter Build was already STR, and this way I could also display the Shifter's Edge feat 😃
But yes, I prefer STR for the simplicity of it all.
Shifter is fairly feat starved, so I would tend to agree saving 2 feats and going strength is likely the best bet. That said, +10 damage is substantial. The max strength bonus you can get whilst still having a higher dexterity modifier is probably less than 20 lower than if you just maximised strength without worrying about dexterity. If you start 14 strength, 20 dex and pump 10 points into dexterity on levels up, that's still 16 not 20 less than just going all out into strength, though admittedly, its only 2 more damage and you have spent 2 feats and likely have moderately lower AB also. But you will have significantly better AC and initiative.

What neck slot are you going to use other than mighty striking?
@@farmowl6480there's a bunch of good necklaces. The one that hits swarms comes to mind. There's one that grants you temporary hit points when killing an enemy. And in the later game there's some very powerful neck pieces.
If you go Demon path you can forego Shifter's Multiattack because you get Deadly Natural Weapons which turns all natural attacks into primary. So the -5 just goes away completely. You also get a +2 enhancement bonus on top of that.
If there was one Shifter Archetype that I was expecting to have a spell casting progression, it should be this one (similar to a Rogue Eldritch Scoundrel like Woljiff) since Feys are supposed to be inclined with magic, lorewise.
Same.:(. Well I guess you can take Angel if you want some solid spells. Or as legend second class take a spell caster.
If you want spell progression, then there is always Druid. Shifter are Druids that use their magic internally to empower their shifting abilities, meaning that they don't have the ability to cast spells. It's how it is explained in the game.
I'm following your guides for the shifter but i'm no fan of lich path and i already have runs with azata and trickster (and without going legend)...I was pretty curious about Aeon, wich one of the build you just wrote (this one, the manticore guide or the base shifter guide) would you recommend for an aeon path? And wich mythic feat/ability/power?

What other mythic paths could work well with Feyform shifter? I think it feyform looks the best out of all the shifter forms.
Yeah I was looking at feyform shifter as perhaps the best pick for a solo unfair melee character. It really is a complete package.
For unfair melee, I think best pick would be Wildland Shaman Orc actually.
Sure you are a spellcaster, but most of your spells will be just buffs and you'll just attack at melee.
Of course, if you mean pure melee, then Feyshifter can make for a great character too!
But I would still prefer a class that starts with a pet for double party members and easier tanking early game.
@@cRPGBro Wildland shamans are also really stacked, it's true. But the thing about solo runs is the early game is all about cheese whatever class you build but what really makes or breaks it is late game survivability. The combination of strong damage, high AC, high saves and access to two rogue feats makes it a superb solo class. The tricky question is what mythic path would work best?
There is a kneepad (glove-slot-item) made for pets/mounts only called "Knee Pads of the Mighty Swipe" which can be bought from the Skeletal Salesman (chapter 2). Only available from the "Hunters Arsenal" so you can´t buy it on the first encounter. For some reason Shifters can equip it (But no other class except animal companion) although it´s probably not meant to. Try it. You won´t be dissapointed. The destruction and mayhem you have the potential to do with the abdurdly high dps Feyshifters get combined with this "glove" is hilarious.
Does it work on the lich pet skelly?

For Best Dispellers, please check my Aeon & Lich Guides, both have amazing dispel potential: Liches with one of their ultimate spells (That you can still get at Chapter 3 if merged) while for Aeons with the Bane feature on attacks.
What would be very helpful for your guides that go Trickster-Legend would be a discussion or review of feats when not going Legend. Trickster-Legend has so many feats it's pretty straightforward to build for and isn't that different to every other Trickster-Legend build. Shifter is quite feat starved so someone that would rather go Demon, Azata, etc. and only has 20 levels to work with will need to make choices, e.g. is Cleaving Finish worth the investment, how important is Lunge over other feats, etc.
It's just that most of my other builds are already non Legend, and the feat progression they take can be taken as base.
Especially since by not going Trickster first, you'll have 3 extra feats, as you can't pick the 3 special Trickster Critical ones, so ideally you'd just get Focus > Dazzling Display > Shatter Defenses.
Lunge is an absolutely amazing feat for any melee build, STR or DEX, that doesn't want to be the main tank.
Cleaving Finish is amazing too as essentially it's an extra attack/round for any form, while Cleave provides 2 attacks/round as early as level 2, when most classes would only get 2 at level 6-8.
On the other hand, because Shifter already has 2 attacks/round as early as level 1, you might consider skipping Cleave > Cleaving Finish if you aren't going Human, but they are still amazing help early game where most of the difficulty is at.

Has anyone tried base shifter with legend mutation warrior together with a BFT companion and tested how shifter abilities interfere, work or won't work with BFT provided polymorph spells?

The most obvious choice would be druid angel that switches to legend and carries over the very useful angel and druid buffs for your shifter. You will also be able to cast with natural spell. However, you likely only take shifter levels in chapter 5 after getting legend.
Alternatively, trickster to legend empyreal sorcerer would work nicely too as you can grab eldritch knight and with trickster, will have the threat range to reliably trigger spell critical, allowing casting and attacking in the same round.
Without legend, I dont see any good options to play a caster legend. It simply doesnt multiclass well.
Can someone explain how you get the trickster improved crit feats without getting locked in? I tried doing it but must have messed it up.
You get them by going Trickster and having Perception II before level 11-13.
Then you select Legend at the start of Chapter 5.
So long as you do it before getting into full Legend (so before you lose access to M4) you'll still be able to acquire these feats.

Any changes to the build you would recommend if *just* staying Trickster and not going Legend?
Go for Athletics III Greater Trick and be sure to spend 1 skill point per level into Athletics too. This way you get more BAB after 20, ending up at 25 insteade of 40 which is Legend, but still above all other Mythic Paths!
Could you replace demon hunter with vivi for sneak attack galore and mutagen or mutation warrior for times 5 crit on claws? :)

I just went with Ranger because my previous Trickster Legend was already 20 Mutation Warrior.
Latest patch has nerfed the effects from weapons such as the Hasty Eradicator. No more extra free attack but shifter already is getting many attacks, 1 less isnt huge but still a loss. Do you think Wendu or Lann as manticores would clash with gear selections. Already with the new shifter NPC Ulbrig, gear would go to the MC with Ulbrig getting the scraps. Adding Wendu or Lann to the shifter club means they only gonna get last weeks left overs 😀
Yep, sadly it was nerfed.
But as you mentioned, 1 attack loss isn't that much of an issue especially when we have so many.
There will be some gear clash if you go with multiple Shifters, at least as far as the best gear like Bestial Rags & Owl's Cowl.
But honestly you can do it just fine, since you don't really need that on all of your Shifters. There's also enough Amulets of Mighty/Agile Fists to empower the natural attacks of multiple allies.
Crpgbro PLS Try Shadow Shaman/Prophet of Pestilence+ Shifter archetypes with high wisdom ! Dont forget about 'Natural Spell!'

With the Shifter, do Bites stack from sources? Like if I were a Motherless Tiefling who turned to Spider or Wolf, would I get 2 bites to start with? The Spider has great AC potential and the Wolf has that good Trip build. If the Bites stack when you transform, you could start with Wolf-faced Oracle Motherless Tiefling, then shift in to Feral Mutagen for another bite and Bloodrager for another bite. You could be doing 5 bites all with Trip if you took Wolf and you'd get it at all early on. With the 2 bite attack mask, you're going to 6 bites all crushingly early.
Sadly, Bite attacks from different sources will not stack anymore.

Feyshifter is absolutely overpowered so in difficulty normal/core it can be good even in Azata's path.
Obviously the trickster's path is the way to go for optimization because of the sneak attacks and for chaotique neutral.
But if you want to play "roleplay" it can be good in Azata's path and the other path as well. But be aware, Azata's path is a chaotic good path and sadly, feyshifter is neutral good or chaotic neutral class
@@Pierre_Grognart well you replied yourself but yeah worked fine on normal. Feyshifter does like the moral bonuses stacking on AC/AB/stats.
I went neutral good, it was easier to stay there, although I did respec a couple times. Once when I realized I could have taken outflank earlier and once when I realised, very late, that Shifter's Edge didn't do anything (seems bugged, I didn't have weapon finesse and tried with/without amulet of agile fists. So I removed it and took mythic weapon finesse, that way I could take Vellexia's amulet and trade str for more wisdom.
And since my aasimar already had racial bonuses, bestial rags was mostly redundant so I went with the one that gives enhancement bonuses to attack and damage rolls when polymorphed (which wouldn't have stacked with the amulet so win-win) "shroud of eternal hunger". It saves uses of greater fang/barksin since you already need those for pets.

Just Trickster is fine too, Trickster is one of the strongest Mythics 😃
In that case focus on Athletics and go for Athletics 3 Mythic Trick.
There are shifter builds for mercenaries too?
Why power attack and not Pirahna Strike? They kind of seem to do the same thing with the way the rules work in this version.
Mostly because Power Attack also lets you qualify for the Cleave line of feats later, which Piranha does not.

Yes, since Trickster is one of the strongest paths!
In this case, be sure to get Athletics III as a Greater Mythic Trick to provide more Attacks/round (only 3 less than Legend instead of 4), while increasing Athletics to 20 ranks.
The Microscopic Proportions spell can even increase your DEX by a further +6 Size, and Trick Fate is just an instant win anyways!

How do i get ring of guiding star if i am trickster to start with and it is inside puluras fall which you can only get to as angel?
Pulura's Fall can be accessed with any Mythic, it's just that Angel does it the earliest at Chapter 3, for the others it is at Chapter 5!

Do you know if shifter claws and shifter's fury works with gold dragon form?
shifter's fury - yes it does, tested that part - you get 5 bites without buffs, claws works too - but they lower you damage from 2d6 to 1d10

It's also important to turn Shifter's Claw on for the Feyform, as to get the increased crit multiplier damage.

Slayer (Spawn Slayer) would be the way to go!
But remember you can just use the Sense Vitals Spell from Ranger to get an extra +5d6 Sneak.

I think I’m going to follow this pretty closely. The big difference is that I think I’ll go Slayer to continue sneak attack progression and actually get some good rogue talents while still being kinda rangery.
Slayer can be chosen too!
Ideally Spawn Slayer now that it is fixed.
Another good option is Cult leader. More sneak die, and you can get those claw attacks to 3d8 instead of 2d8 each! And picking Cayden go Strength and Travel. Extra damage from Strength and a Teleport from Travel that is pretty fun to blink around for a move action.

Oh the racial bonuses can actually stack? Didn't expect that. I didn't use the bestial rags,I thought it wouldn't stack because same type as the ones from race.
On that topic, when showing your attack there's two morale bonuses and two enhancement bonuses.
I thought I was starting to understand bonus stacking but now I realise I'm still very much confused lol.

You can use my other Mythic Guides as reference, as most are melee centric builds, as far as the specific Mythic Powers at least.
Pure Trickster would be amazing too, with Athletics III.
Azata can go for Heroic Might, Aeon for Attack + Attack of Opportunity Gaze, Demon for Kalavakus + Schir + Incubus.

I am also curious about an Azata Feyform Shifter build as well.
It can work, but Trickster or Trickster Legend would be stronger.
However, Azata is very viable as well.
Ideally focus on Heroic Might first, then Zippy Magic later.
A Skald ally would still do wonders because of the synergy between Pounce + Charging & Heroic Might.
Believe in Yourself can provide +10 (!!!) to ALL stats with Ring of Triumphant Advance!
I was looking for the same thing. From a Lore Standpoint, Feyform and Azata seems a natural match and would love to see how these two pair up.
@@cRPGBro Would you go with the build progression that you have in this video for anything outside of Trickster, or would it be better to take the build progression that you have for Lich Shifter?
With this build progression you would lose the Trickster Feats, so curious what you would replace them with.
You could make a build for an Unfair solo run, or a build for the Sadistic Game Design achievement where rests are limited.
If you want SGD, the easiest route is to go trickster and get Completely Normal Spell. With a bit of shuffling around, you can get a cantrip that deals 250+ damage as well as something like 30 hellfire rays per rest that simply melt enemies. You also get Cure Wounds as a cantrip, which means unlimited healing. Fatigue is the only thing that can stop you at that point.

@@Finckelstein Thanks, the item is called the Dirty Squealer ad its an amulet that adds 1d6 damage per two caster levels for the scream spell. Thou does not seem that much of an increase as its 5d6 normally, so would be 10d6 or a bit more if above caster level 20.
so how is the SR achieved?
Do you have any advice for an STR version? I just started a human feyform with the same stat spread and with 20 STR and 14 dex, everything else is the same. Planning on going azata because it fits the theme.
for a strength version, i went Feyform 15/ Stigmatized witch 1/ Dragon disciple 4. Worked like a charm. Mammoth and Wolf for the aspects (mammoth and spider would have worked too). If you are going azata you should break 75-80 strength with believe in yourself and triumphant advance, and get insane to hit and damage through incredible might. you only lose out on one aspect, and in exchange get +7AC (or +6 Ac and +4 init if you go hare instead of lizard), +4 Str, and up to 2nd level spells (including mage armor for easy archmage armor).
Str makes a lot more sense, as the fey form gives you a decent strength bonus, while inflicting a dexterity penalty. Don't see any reason to go dexterity...

Just be sure to get Multiattack at level 7 instead of Lunge because of the numerous secondary attacks from Feyform!

I just got Aivu, and... my god, she has 8 times attack!! (the 8th is bite which got from Animal Fury rage power), and i check, i found that she not only attack with bite, 2 claws, also 2 wings and 1 tail!!! IS it a secret buff or?

Yesterday i made similar (kinda) build for Inevitable excess, legend not from trickster. main damage dealer and absolutely untouchable tank, around 90 touch AC. similar feats but crane style instead of additional crits and wing focus and cleave line. So lesser damage overall, but inpenetrable defence
14 int, 17 wis, 14 cha, rest to dex, levels without order below:
1 monk(scaled fist) for cha to ac(it stacks with shapeshifter) and dodge feat
20 shapeshifter fey
1 witch
7 sword saint (early pick for weapon spec and shield spell) and 7 lvl for 3lvl spell (qualification for loremaster)
10 duelist (both ss and duelist for int to ac, duelist for additional +3 ac and stat/ac damage on crits)
1 lvl loremaster for dispelling touch(rogue advanced trick, its very powerful because it takes character level)
for most trublesome fights i just buff him and send alone
within normal game it will be more of a tank earlygame
1 scaled fist->1 witch->2 fey->1 ss for free feat and weap focus -> fey until qual for duelist -> duelist 4 for combat reflex -> rest in any order

You can indeed go for a more defensive route if needed as Feyform has 5 attacks/round just at level 4 anyways.

i respecced later and made dragonshiter, but from 6 level normal shifter(for shifter fury) and empowerred dragonkind3 from brownfur. this way i have same count of attacks but more powerfus bite, breath and stat bonuses. made 10 into student of war for bypassing DR and crit immunity(which efficiently replace 19th level of shifter and gave you more feats and ac/ab). on top of that scaled fist, witch and loremaster(for crit) dips. (20th level into sword saint as legend, but without it on other myhic paths also will be fine). turns out it has almost same AC and much more damage.
Currently following this build but it seem's like Shifter's edge ain't working. Not seeing it's effects anywhere on the combat log. :/
Other than that, i'm having fun with this, i did took the dip into witch for higher armor so it's a nice sail so far.
For Shifter's Edge to work, be sure to turn the Shifter's Claw ability on!
You need it in any of the forms to get the bonuses to your natural attacks (even if they aren't Claws).
@@cRPGBro I have. I also tried turning them off and back on but it doesn't serm to apply the extra damage. Looking online it would seem that its a bug, though some people reported that sometimes it fixes itself.
I can confirm that Shifter's Edge isn't working. You can test this yourself in a few minutes rolling up a new char.
@@BalasariusX1 i did. It worked until I exited the shield maze. Not sure if it's due to me not leveling up as I just go through all the prologue as a lv1 character to hire cheap mercenaries tho. I've heard that apparently this bug fixes itself eventually as well but who knows :/

@@notalefty999 You don't need an external source. Just take Wolverine as a minor aspect and you will get 2 rage powers at lvl 8, which qualifies you for the "Extra Rage Power" feat, meaning you can get greater beast totem at lvl 11.

Personally, if you dont mind not actually playing a shifter most of the game, I think elemental rampager angel going legend and grabbing shifter late game would be very strong. 35 BAB, all angel buffs including awesome defensive benefits and both avengers blessing and mark of the sun and +5 hit and damage from elemental rampage. I think the rampage bonus caps out at level 16, so grabbing loremaster for opportunist and a spell like mass heal or eagle soul is also viable.
You would still be playing a shapeshifting character for most of the game though it will be pretty underwhelming until you get angel and even then, you will mostly be carried by angel spellcasting rather than your druid shapeshifting, but from chapter 3 onwards, you will be a powerful character.
edit: missed the part about secret ending. You still get solid angel buffs as a pure shifter, though your spellcasting progression will be far weaker than with a merged spellbook. With speed of light and natural spell, you can still cast and attack and where enemies are susceptible to your abolish improvement, the damage bonus is large.
@@jared.mohammed yeah, going trickster->gold dragon is so far is most tempting, as cool as demon is fixing the crit range with trickster is more important. I will see if I like trick story to judge if I should remain or change to gold dragon. Last time I tried lich and story felt underwhelming.

While that is true, pure Trickster is amazing as well, and Feyform is so strong (5 attacks just at level 4!) that frankly any melee boosting Mythic like Lich, Aeon, Azata or Demon can work just fine.

Viable for sure as Feyform is very strong, but won't be as good as pure Trickster or Trickster > Legend.
I think a base class shifter focussing on strength and raptor would work better with the interaction between incredible might and pounce. With ring of triumphant advance, you will get a morale bonus to hit and damage 10 points larger than heroic invocation too. Add in believe in yourself and you will get another +5 to hit and damage. Your strength score will be large enough for the DC to be high (easily in the 40s) and with around 10 attacks per charge, the chance of an enemy being completely debilitated is high.

Why is CN important, thought all mythic paths could be within 1 step of its alignment? So CG, N, CN and CE for trickster?
Shifters also have the same alignment restrictions as Druids, so they have to be any Neutral alignment.
When combined with Trickster, CN is the only choice.

Rogue is a Medium BAB class, which means less attacks/rounds and also less damage from Mythic Power Attack as a Legend.

Well, you could still just be a pure Trickster and retain the feats + also get one extra attack/round through Athletics 3 so you'd only be 3 attacks behind Legend 😃

Looks suspiciously demonic for a "Fey" creature!
Why don't you pick Mutated Shape feat - it's one additional, full attack with Slam - even if it's not boosted by all the WF/WS feats, it's still solid as it get full attack bonus and damage. In this build it will also add full 17d6 sneak damage. It should be easy to get 19 Wiz with the belt/stat buffs.
It's a good feat but I believe it is also Tabletop Tweaks only, so modded.

Delay Shifter's Edge to 3, but then you'd have to delay Multiattack to 9 or so and ignore Improved Critical Wing.
OR you can just go full STR too and not have to bother with Finesse + Edge so that's 2 extra feats!
