Dont know how i missed this bideo. Had my bike over a tear now. This cleared up some questions i had. I have always had more than one bar indicator showing. I usually have atleast three. My battery gets on charger everynight but i never bottom it out but it gets ridden everyday. So far, no problems.
Thanks for the video. Do you know if there is a way to unlock the power on the throttle as mine cuts out at 4mph? (Himiway Zebra)
Hahaha
Like your videos. My Himiway battery took about 15 hours for the charger light to go from red to green the first time. I started to think it would never turn green :)
I'm more apt to buy a product from a company that takes the time to produce multiple videos on the product. Great job! Can't wait to get my Himiway!
Definitely nice to hear the company explain their products!
I am new to the e bike community! On Himiway Batteries only - has anyone experienced one catching fire?
I charge mine just about everyday during week. Its almost never a complete full charge cause i dont deplete it. Usually has three bars on display. Rarely has to be a charge of 8hrs
Thanks Tim! Great information, as I have Lithium Ion batteries in my motorhome (house) and much the same information is similar with them as well. The BMS is there to help protect these batteries, as well as for longevity, if, as you say, they are taken care of well in an efficient manner.
Hey Tim, Thanks for the vid, very Informative, so I just took my Himiway Zebra out for my first ride yesterday and the little rubber charge port cap wasn't on the battery when I returned home, I'm having a heck of a time finding a replacement online, do you know where or how I can get one? Thanks, Jim
Thank you for keeping us informed great job. 👍
I was curious about the batteries performance and now I feel safer with your information because my himiway is expensive and I want another battery to supplement all the extra weight on the trailer and upgrades. Great content 👍
My step thru battery lock failed while on the holder. How to order replacement and removal???
Hi tim, when I put my battery on the bike I get a spark from the #2 connector on the battery tray,I think it's the headlight ,cause it would not shut off I had put a on off switch on. But I still get big spark when I put my battery on the bike. Any thoughts?
Love my Himiway! Hopefully the battery lasts a long time
Hi. On display all the time show full charge battery? today was battery down,,,, walk 3 mi
Thank you Tim! Your videos are very useful and instructive, so I have a question: how do you change the controller in the Escape model?
Really good, easily understandable tutorial!
Hope someone can answer this. My cruiser stopped running the other day. Thought I had enough charge. Tried charging and no red light. Charger is putting out 47 volts and battery shows 41 on all 3 terminals. Battery indicator shows nothing. Not even a red light. It does however flash for a second. The battery will run the motor for a short time too but eventually kicks off. Any Ideas?
what does errer 24 mean on my himiway escape bike , and how to correct it
Thanks Tim. Another useful video.
What surface is best to charge a ebike battery? Medal shelves, wood, tile, or something else?
Also do you recommend using a power strip, or just the wall outlet?
I would definitely plug into a power strip. Wood table is fine. I always keep my chargers stand up on the long side instead of laying flat. So both large surfaces can stay cooler
Great information!!
Yup...Tim is the man!!!!!! Thanks Tim :-)
Thank you Tim. This is very good and answer so many questions I had. Do you have an name of the 80% after market chargers by chance?
Go to LUNA cycles, they're located in Southern California they have a couple of chargers that allow you to adjust 80,90 or 100% charge rate.
@@Hoggdoc1946 thank you.
Excellent info on battery maintenance
Really good very informative video. Thanks.
Hi I have a ebike that keep blowing the battery fuse what can it be?
I have a question for you, I received my Himiway a few days ago here in Germany, it works great but the throttle doesn't work when I ride the Himiway so I have to pedal. Throttle just works when the bike is in walking speed. Do you have any advice for me to fix the throttle so I can use throttle when I'm tired?
Hi Farid, we apologize for any inconvenience, can I get your email so that our customer service will reach you to fix it real quick, thanks!
Did you get this issue resolved?
Why does my charge indicator only show 3 bars when the charger turns green
I plugged the charger in to a smart plug. Then I set a routine up on Alexa - "Alexa, charge the bike battery" and it turns on the smart plug for 8 hours then turns the smart plug back off. I usually plug the battery in to the charger and run the routine after every ride, regardless of how long I've been for a ride. Is this a good idea, or should I not be running that routine every time?
Theoretically the battery could fully charge…then overtime slightly discharge causing it to start recharging. This will affect the charge cycle life of your battery a minuscule amount. Over years that can add up. But I would think it would be a pretty small affect.
Great video Tim. Thanks. This is a somewhat mundane request but could you please provide the dimensions (LxWxH) of the Cruiser battery? I'm thinking about getting the Cruiser and would want a second battery to be able to take with me to double the range. I need to know what size trunk bag to get to mount on the rear rack to accommodate the spare battery. The Cruiser battery seems longer than other batteries I've seen but I haven't been able to find the physical dimensions listed anywhere.
Hi, About the dimension of the Cruiser battery, you can consult our technical colleague: support@himiwaybike.com
The battery is 3in wide
Length is 18.5in bottom
and 15in on top
Height is 3.5in
Himiway why not just give the measurements Its not rocket science
@@ricksmith7036 Really. And thanks for the measurements. I appreciate it.
@@ricksmith7036 Thanks much!
Do the lights on the top of my himiway cruiser battery light up while on the charger?
Not unless you press the button. Its recommended to unlpug the charger first to get an accurate reading.
@@HimiwayBikesLongrangeEbikes Thank you. I love my new ride
Thanks you for this video, good information.
Whats up Turtle? Any idea why my screen says Im going 27mph when Im only doing 10? Then it sputters trying to keep its highest speed, but I think because it is showing 27mph that the governor (if there is one) is stopping it from going faster. This started after trying to change the amount of gears to 1-9 (I think).
Has your problem been solved? Your screen maybe need do some ajustment,or someting wrong on the controller. You can contact our after-sales colleagues, they will help you :customers@himiwaybike.com
@@HimiwayBikesLongrangeEbikes I reset it to the default and "badda bing", back in action thanks!
@@richardm893 badda Bing badda bang! How's it working now? Still good?? I wanna buy this bike. Is it worth it?
Are there after market chargers available to charge the Cruiser battery faster?
Our chargers and batteries are all made to match. I don't recommend you use another charger, that could do some damage to the battery.
tinker i need your expertease,,,,hello friend ,say i have been having a passcode problem for 8 of the 12 months i've had my himiway step through ,heres tthe deal when i turn on the power ii get the 'P I '' screen but without even putting in a passcode i have tottal power to my hub mootor,, your a 'HIMMIWAT EXSPERT' so i figure you can help me out ,i need your 'EXPERTEASE',,THANKS FRIEND FELLOW RIDER... Can you show me where you get the technical information on 50% charge is only 1/2 a charge cycle. I hear this myth often but manufacturers don't test like that. Also not 90% anything above 80% increase the degradation of the battery that is caused by the higher voltage. And that came from a lithium battery engineer
Hi Tim! My battery is showing three green bars and a red bar next to E. Last night I rode my bike for a while took a break and then when I put the battery back in the bike wouldn’t turn on. I checked all my connections as well as the fuse in the bottom of the battery and they were good. I charged the battery overnight and rode it to work this morning but as soon as I turned it off it wouldn’t turn back on. I’ve had the bike for almost 2 years with roughly 1200 miles on it. Is this a sign that the battery is going bad?
So sorry you are having troubles with your bike. Please contact Himiway support with your issue.

Did you ever resolve the problem? Do you still have the bike?
Great video
Thanks
Turtle is the Man!!!
Can I use a better charger for it to Charge faster ??? More volts
More volts more amps.
no
So I heard this 50% charge is like a half a charge cycle. Well since cell manufacturers test from completely discharged to full charge when testing for capacity loss after so many charge cycles where do you get this information about half a charge or quarter charge being not a full charge cycle. I've never seen testing that proves that. Manufacturers do know that over 80% charge the cells degrade faster that's why the 40-80% which doesn't make a lot of sense either since you're going to be charging more times. I do believe that shorter charge cycles say 50 or 25% is easier on the battery but not that it's equal to half or less of a charge cycle mainly because your bringing the battery to 100% and that's where it degrades the most
I have a zebra. And, sadly, my display, did not tell me my battery was dying. Full battery display, while the battery was dead. Let me tell you, pedaling 36 miles home was no fun.
Sorry to hear of your long pedal ride but to be honest why did you go 36 miles away before returning? If you turned at 36 miles the combined round trip would've exceeded the capacity of the battery at best.
@@Hoggdoc1946 The range on the website says 80-100 miles of range. I used minimum pedal assist and only got barely 40 miles. I went that far because the battery gauge on the screen didn’t even go down one single bar indicating to me to turn around. I planned on turning around as soon as the battery lost that first bar, but it never did.
@@Hoggdoc1946 I’m fine with using no battery to pedal home, a LITTLE bit. Probably just the 2 biggest let downs, are that the screen clearly doesn’t work, and the battery does not have as much range as advertised.
The one I purchased in 2020 is a total lemon… at least 40 emails between myself and support with no resolution. They ask me to get on the bike, ride it and take a video of the problem… not sure how that’s a safe option at all?
