Much like the Masters, the Golf FM Ping golf bag review heralds the beginning of the new golfing season. Almost nothing is more eagerly anticipated in the golfing world, Sir Rick Shiels himself is said to marvel at the uncommon blend of incisive critical product analysis alongside side splititng sarcasm and humour. Well, that's what I would like to think anyway - all made up - especially the bit about Rick Shiels watching it. But, see what you think, you might be surprised how entertaining 23 minutes talking about bags can be.

Hi, I am Fraser Malcolm, welcome to my channel. I am the Head Professional at North Berwick’s East Links (Glen Golf Club) in East Lothian, Scotland.
I have been a Professional golfer for over twenty-five years and have a wealth of experience teaching a wide range of players, from three-year-old beginners to elite county players. I have a strong background in junior golf coaching creating an all year round junior programme called Beginnagolf.
I also have a successful club-fitting side to my business and am very interested in equipment technology with a wealth of experience to draw on when reviewing and assessing new products.
I pride myself on my honesty and always offer an impartial view on any products I review.

I've had the DLX for a couple of years now absolutely love it! Still like new, I play a couple of times every week.
That's good to hear, I'm glad it's lasting well, they certainly feel like they would.
I play 150 rounds per year and my 2014 DLX bag lasted 7 years before finally falling apart. Because I wanted blue, I bought 4 Pioneer bags due to the fact that my 2022 Pioneer only survived 2 years. If your viewers want the most bang for their buck - I strongly recommend the DLX. It would be nice if Ping made the DLX in various colors!
Yeah I love the DLX now and its good to hear a first hand account of it's longevity. Disappointing to hear about the Pioneer, even less chance of selling mine now, might just have to blow it up.

Thanks for watching. I don't have a Titleist premium cart unfortunately - as you know I rate the DLX very highly. I'm sure the Titleist is good, I just can't confirm it's Roast Chicken abilities.
Have the 2023 Pioneer bag as my current one. Awesome and works well even in rain. Prior bag was a DLX which is, for all intents and purposes, waterproof. Gave it to my regular golfing mate at the Club and he's a fan too. If you want a staff bag, get the TM Stealth one. It's heavy however quality is excellent. Have 8 bags so I know what I'm talking about. :)) Keep making the great vids!
Haha, you're a serious bag customer, wish you lived in North Berwick. Good to hear about the waterproof qualities of the Pioneer and the DLX. I haven't come across a really good Tour Bag yet, some half decent ones but nothing where I've thought they were not heavily compromised in some way. Thanks for watching.

Late to this as i am in the market for a new cart bag and am doing research. Good in depth review, best I've seen. Only thing I would say is spend more time on the top and divider layout, that is after all what the bag is for, carrying clubs! Pretty much decided on the pioneer monsoon. If you still have the 2023 bag in blue, make me an offer! I have subscribed
As outrageous as it may sound, I did actually sell it. I'm actually getting quite low on bags, purely by accident, nobody has said they're buying them because of the reviews, just luck. Thanks for watching and I'll remember that about the tops and dividers.
Maybe next time show how easy (or not) it is to pick up the bag and put it in the boot? Also, would be nice to see some shots of the tops of the bags with and without clubs.
Yes okay, noted, will try to remember. There is almost no end to the detail required for bag reviews really isn't there.
I have a black pioneer for many years and its bombproof. The only thing against it is the colour is fading a bit but only a little. Strongly considering the DLX but I don't need it!
Yes 'need'... not sure I understand that word. I know what 'want' means. Good to hear the Pioneer is sturdy though, I always appreciate a long term view.
Thanks for the reviews. I am considering purchasing the DLX. I've got the Pioneer in Black which I have loved, but it has faded since new. Really annoying as the hood is still black and the rest of the bag is not. The other really annoying this is that the top is not round and keeps twisting on my MGI navigator Cart. Not sure if it will be improved with the DLX as it looks like the same shape on top. In Melbourne, Australia.
Thanks for watching all the way over there in Melbourne. Yes the DLX is exactly the same shape of top as the Pioneer unfortunately. All the Ping cart bags are pretty similar shapes at the top.

Sorry, I don't ship bags to the States, it would probably add at least $150 if not more I would guess. Would almost be better paying for a holiday for me and I could drop the bag off at your house.
Does the dlx have a slot on the top pocket to slide in your scorecard
I'm afraid in a cruel twist of fate, I've actually sold the DLX I had in stock and have not re-ordered one yet, so I can't actually check about the card pocket. I've re-watched a couple of the videos I made on it and I don't mention that feature both times, so I'm leaning towards the answer being , no it doesn't. I will check if I see another one and reply again if it turns out there is. Sorry I can't be more definite.
@@golffm6924 thanks for your reply. I am looking for a waterproof bag like the powakaddy dritech which has a sleeve on the outside of the upper pockets to store a scorecard

Does the Pioneer have a drain in the cooler pocket like the DLX?
Yes, it does, I'll have to do better next time thats two things I've missed .

Does the traverse have full lenghts dividers?
Yes it does, they're pretty much individual slots or every club.
Had a 2015 DLX and it was great until a squirrel got in it and eat its way through the front pocket after a chocolate bar i forgot about then destroyed the inside of the whole bag! So just bought another and its great, just need a few more colour's.
Wow, yes can’t really fault Ping for not making it squirrel proof. And totally agree about the colours, at least one more maybe matching the current flagship colours or something each time. Great bag though.
I’d like to point out cobra’s cart bags aren’t squirrel or mouse proof either. Apparently they really like snickers bars, So don’t keep them in your bag 😢

What is in your opinion best bag out there?
DLX, for functionality, longevity and also pretty good in wet weather
I have an older DLX(I think) and I have to say it is very poor. The pocket storage is pathetic, can hardly get the zips to close without worrying if they're going to burst and dont even think about trying to pack a couple of towels. Unless the storage has improved my next bag wont be from ping
It must have changed, because the DLX is the bees knees now. Again, that's a good thing.

I can't stand when they make the name of the bag prominent on the outside or add their slogan like "play your best". I think that's why the pioneer bags aren't selling. I steer clear of anything like that.
Yes, could be a factor, although I have actually just finally sold the last remaining Pioneer, proving that miracles do happen.
Looks like you've sold all your bags now, according to your website. UA-cam advertising must really work!
If only, I've taken all the bags off it, the only things I sell on the website are East Links souvenirs, you're not strictly allowed to sell certain brands online unless you're committing to hundreds of thousands of pounds of stock up front. I'm a long way from that I'm afraid, maybe one day!
Traverse quality is useless, used mine maybe four times on push cart and it started to wear through!
I hadn't heard it was that bad but that's not good, might have to reconsider stocking it at all
