Aniconism is absolutely op if you have lay clergy. You can always build temples (unlike castles which require a city first) and -33% building cost is incredible.

Also aniconism is still broken and gives crazy amount of piety, like 1-2k piety for random skins and horns you got lying around so your every heir can start with max piety level. Its probably best economic tenet in whole game right now. Also waldenism gets both aniconism and lay clergy making it probably overall best base christianity branch.

Absolutely, lay clergy in general is a really powerful doctrine. Holding temples and receiving the income they generate directly is awesome and since they're barony tier titles you can revoke them without any real repercussion.

Holy sites are a really big deal for religion choice in CK3. Not only do you get a passive bonus for simply holding the county, but the great holy buildings are very juicy, giving gold, renown and development.
I'm quite the Krstjani enjoyer as they have three holy sites relatively close together. Mozarabism is great for Iberian Struggle games as there are three sites in Iberia and you can easily sail over and take Rome for a fourth.

Adoptionism can gain a head of faith through an event chain in the 867 start date that one can undertake if they are in the Iberia or Aquitaine regions and have one of high learning or wise man or a few other criteria. You can also change a lot of the tenets that way. The wiki should say that really lol. Easiest way to do it though is to start as a Christian ruler in 867 as take the religion focus in the learning lifestyle tree until you get the event that can give you Wise Man/Woman. You have to be quick though since the event can only fire in the first few decades (though you usually can get Wise Man/Woman long before that)

I'd argue that Krstjani is one of the most fun denominations to play but also one of the hardest because at any moment if you are independent and have more than 10 counties both the Pope and the Ecumenical Patriarchar can declare you "Heretic" taking your Ecumenism special Doctrine so all Christian Faiths become Hostile towards you but you are still viewing them as Righteous due to the Pastoralism Tenet.
They Send you an Event and you can accept that your faith is Heretic and convert, accept your faith as Heretic and stay Krstjani or you can convince The Pope/Patriarch through Diplomacy or Learning that you are not Heretic, if you do this you will become inmune to that event for 5-50 years (depending on the Event), the only problem is that you can become inmune to the Pope accusations but 1 year later the Patriarch might try to declare you Heretic and you'll have to convince him as well xD

Communal identity is actually S tier imo, you just need to place the right vassal that has the right culture ruling over those land, let them convert it themselves, and its fast af, so I dont need to convert anything myself
Another thing to note is that, its easier for you to convert a county to your culture if it has your faith. So I can let some random guy from the culture of a county rule it for sometime, let him convert it, then convert his capital, he will change culture and convert of the other county to my culture. Yes, itll lower my research speed, but who cares when I wanted a lovely roleplaying and spread my culture as far as I can 😂

Aniconism is an A tier tenet for me, you are able to destroy Famed and Illustrious artifacts for huge amounts of piety and gold. Considering the fact how common those are in tours and tournaments, you will be swimming in artifacts every time you attend a tournament, hunt, wage wars, loot/pillage, buy claims or kidnap people with inspirations etc. All I'm saying is that artifacts are very common and could generate insane amounts of gold just like communion. It also pairs really well with Image of Edessa artifact that further reduces construction time and gold for temples by 20% giving you a passive total of 53% discount on all temple holdings and buildings, particularly great if you are the head of faith.

orthodoxy has one huge thing that no one else does: it holds the constantinople holy site, which is a 20% to cultural fascination. HUGE if you're the culture head (which you should be anyway). if only there was a way to replace pentarchy (which is kinda mid imo) with alexandrian catechism, you could go scholarship focus and just speedrun all the innovations. if you're focusing on playing tall it's a worthwhile tradeoff for crusades, especially since catholics only get a 5% fascination buff (for cologne).

Pacifism is kinda bad in terms of game mechanics if you are feudal, because you can't use holy wars, but it can actually be very powerful if you have tribal or clan government and thus have access to conquest casus belli. The +1 domain limit can be a HUGE advantage if you are able to secure and build up some powerful domains for yourself. The extra piety for time at peace can also be quite handy (e.g. for buying claims as a scholar character of for getting gold from your spiritual head of faith). It also is generally a powerful trait if you want to play tall in a small realm instead of conquering a huge empire.

    • @Loutron3030
      @Loutron3030 2 місяці тому

Yeah, pacifism is only as bad as feudalism is as a gov type. With clan gov, if your clan relations are hostile then you get infinite kingdom level CBs which is absolutely bananas.
The only downside of invasion vs. Holy war is that they work like holy wars with the pluralist doctrine where you only sieze the land and titles of the liege lord and not their vassals like with righteous or fundamentalist doctrine.
Given that most pacifist faiths tend to have righteous doctrine (like Bogomilism), you can still revoke the titles from characters with evil faith you vassalise under an invasion CB. Plus you can fabricate claims, use the sanctioned loophole perk on vassals before pushing an invasion CB or just cop the tyranny- many options. The only reason for experienced players to expand their realm particularly aggressively is to give those titles you sieze to dynasty members in order to boost renown and to get the dynasty of many crowns decision, so I'll take the peace time economic benefits over a wobbly wide realm that's going to explode into a horrible civil war at any moment.

The communal identity tenet is bad for most playthroughs, but it CAN be very useful if you are seeking to spread your culture, because it is one of the very very few things in the game that can actually speed up culture conversion (e.g. for the "Nobody comes to Fika" achievement or for the dominance ending in the Iberian struggle or if you just go overboard in learning and fast research and want to convert counties that have high development to your culture or in the very late game when you are done with most of the research and try to spread your Empire all across the map. In that phase, it is useful to convert select counties to your culture to create the "bordering my culture" condition for cultural acceptance). The religious conversion may be slower, but there are perks that can speed it up again and - most importantly - non-cynical vassals who rule counties of a different religion tend to convert them for you, so if you just convert your vassals, your whole population will eventually follow your religion after few decades at the most, even if you have tenets that slow down conversion speed. Converting county culture on the other hand is something only your own steward will ever do, so speedings this one up at the cost of spreading your religion a little slower is well worth it if you want to spread your culture.

You forgot to judge religions based on their holy site bonuses some are clearly superior then others. Orthodoxy rules supreme in this regard. All of their holy sites are OVERPOWERED! While Asatru has very nice knight effectiveness and prowess bonuses to all knights, making them into literal terminators, they passively get Strong and Berserk Traits by ether simply getting born or ripping of heads during battle, Shield Maidens are also very nice, and if you give your Norse Culture "Only the Strong" and "Right to Prove", Cultural traditions along with Only the Strong Tenet, and do some Breeding Eugenic Programs to get Herculean on most your knights, then not even multiple empires will be able to oppose your single duchy in terms of military might.

  • @chrisrudolf9839

6:47 Quote "Being a pilgirm is a sin in this religion and so is being a Hadji ... I don't know how you can be a Hadji if you follow Paulicanism, it's kinda strange": It's funny how you apparently have played this game succesfully quite a lot and feel knowlegeable enough to make tier lists, but still apparently don't understand some basic game mechanics. Sins and virtues create opinion modifiers for all characters that a person who follows this religion knows, regardless whether the other character follows the same religion or not. E.g. a Christian character whose religion regards "forgiving" as a virtue will have a better opionion of ANY character who has the forgiving character trait, not only Christians. So he will e.g. like an Asatru character who has the forgiving trait more than if he didn't have that trait, even though that character's own religion Asatru regards forgiving to be a sin
So any character who follows Paulicanism will obviously dislike muslims for being of a religion they consider evil, but they will dislike Hadji's even more for indulging in the (from their POV) sin of tying the divine down to worldly places and worshipping objects.
