Bokuto and Akaashi's friendship is literally my favourite thing in both the anime and the manga. He acts like a tough captain but he's such an adorable kid around Akaashi.

English isn't my native language and neither is Japanese but for me that original voice acting could never go wrong and never gets old. While the dub is kinda hit or miss.. Its just my opinion though.

Look I don't care if you prefer dub. It all comes down to preference. I prefer sub because ya know they're literally in Japan and it just makes sense for them to speak Japanese. Same goes for any other anime I watch I like subs most of the time the sub voice actors are alot more better than the dub. In the end it doesn't matter what you like it comes down to preference.

I don’t really have a fav for the Japanese tbh they all sound great. They only one I guess I would prefer in English would be Bokuto and Tanaka. Everyone else eh I can watch both and be fine.
People need to stop hating on dubs. You can have a preference but don’t hate and disrespect a whole profession just bc you want to seem better then they average weeb. Tbh most people can’t even tel the difference you just make it up (this is for people who just hate dubs to hate them)

In my opinion I prefer the dub voice for Noya! It makes him seem more child like, which is mostly his personality! Also the voice for Oikawa too. The Tsuki voice too!! Also Suga’s voice was On POINT

I watch the dub, but Suga's voice is so soothing. I tend to do things while watching anime, but whenever I hear his voice, I tend to pause and appreciate it.
I would agree with all but Oikawa? His Japanese voice is simply perfection, man. Nothing fits his character more.

I think the biggest problem with the dub is just that the casting wasn't the best. A lot of the voices didn't fit the characters. Although while off in some places, the actors aren't awful. AND I LOVE SUGA'S ENGLISH VOICE LIKE BOIIIII

Not going I lie Bokuto's, Sugawara's and Tanaka's dub voice actors are who I love the most. They're the reason why I go back on certain episode just to hear them.
This dub cast is wonderful! I've been loving watching them! They're obviously having a lot of fun with this show. Great job, guys!!

As someone who watches dub, I just watched season 3 subbed and I think both are great.
Edit: So i've now changed over to watching sub, which i now prefer, but i still think both are great and we shouldn't get so heated over such a small thing.

While I think the casting for the dub is overall par-for-the-course with a few pretty good and a few... less than stellar choices, I definitely feel the absolute best casting choice was Greg Ayers as Nishinoya. He’s just got such an incredibly distinct voice that fits the character really well, and his general portrayal of Nishinoya was spot on too.
I definitely agree!! He was one of the few characters in the dub whose voice I actually enjoyed. My biggest issue with the dub at the moment is how Hinata has a deeper voice than Nishinoya though. I just cant picture it, you know?

I also noticed that Daichi's voice was pretty inconsistent. Like, sometimes he'd have a deeper voice, but other times his voice sounded higher pitched than Tsukishima's.
I also couldn't care less for Kenma's voice actor. I just don't think they really portrayed him all that well. Like, yeah they got the lazy aspect of him somewhat right, but it still didn't really fit him.
My favorites, though, other than Nishinoya, would have to be Bokuto, Yachi, Saeko, and Shirabu. Ushijima's was also pretty dang good.

It feels like I'm the only one who thinks Akaashi's dub voice is kind of fitting. It has the right amount of monotone and slight sarcasm in his sentences. I tried to picture him with a different voice but really couldn't if I'm being honest.

I think both are very well executed. They obviously took a lot of time to make the best possibilities for the dub. I find the dub voices to be a lot funnier but the subs to be more dramatic. I watch both pretty equally because Haikyuu has very good quality dubs contrary to many dubs out there. Most voices fit well with each other. Typically when people speak other languages, ESPECIALLY Japanese, their voice and tone changes a little because of intonation of the language and where you are supposed to speak from with each language. With most characters it is within those bounds. Also, liking the dubs of anything isn’t bad. It also depends on what you watched anime with first. If you listened to the dub first the sub will prob sounds wrong, etc.

Ochako Uraraka I’ve watched haikyuu twice and debating on my third it’s probably because I fixated on the dubbed one but it’s not that bad and neither is the sub but in the sub I feel like they made his voice too deep but I got used to it and tsukki proper to me if you know what I mean and I like how they got tsukkis voice so similar to the original (again, to me)

Acting isn't bad at all. It's the casting. No matter how good you can act, sometimes the voice just doesn't fit the character

why are we attacking each other for having preferences?? i prefer the dub bc i’m hoh and reading the subtitles that fast hurts my eyes. it all comes down to what is most comfortable for you. in the end, we all still enjoy the same anime and characters
for me, i think that the haikyuu dub and sub are both great and translate well. but that makes it harder for me to choose between dub and sub. i have a hard time on choosing. with both dub and sub, i loose focus a lot, and miss out on things, so there’s really no win there. it just makes me annoyed because a lot of people say that dub is good to watch because it’s more funny but then that it’s less accurate and i’m like “ok let’s watch dub” and then i see people saying “sub has more emotion...it’s more accurate...it’s better...” and then that makes me want to watch sub. it just makes me not want to watch anime at all, because when i do, i have a hard time choosing between the two.
