Thank you Paul! You always do a great job explaining exactly what your welding on. I have three weeks left of pipe welding school, and I have 3” stainless in all positions for my ticket out. Thank you for the knowledge sir! This helps me out a lot! 👨🏭 🍻
I enjoyed the stainless steel welding video. Thank you for both freehand and walking the cup welding. Thank you for always uploading good explanations and high quality welding videos. thanks Paul, you are good man👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Paul, that back feed technique is great, out of the hundreds of videos, and classes I have taken over the last 20 years, I had not seen this....or it was not pointed out or I did not pick up on....thanks so much......you are really getting more comfortable in front of the camera too.,....cheers....Paul
you know what would be interesting ... is if you guys showed how to weld stainless with stick rod. I have heard about it but never seen it, how does that work and do you need to purge as well ?
Paul, just wondering? you don't experience sugaring on backside with no purge on cap. maybe I have been welding too much thin wall and getting it. Thanks Again , Paul
The root and fill are there to protect the inside of the cap. No oxygen gets through if you have done a proper root and fill. Heat isn't quite hot enough to react to oxygen because it has to go through almost the full schedule. Compared to thin wall, heat gets through pretty quick.
I just watch video. Those are large tacs, long and deep. Is this done to prevent warpage? On to the rest... The file... Will the use of disguised as such allow you to also in the same i stance fix, fix, a minor defect/discontinuity? Is the minor undercut on the bottom toe of the weld during the walking the cup portion? Overall, I liked the vid. Out in the field getting it done and passable.
If you don't have a foot pedal or finger switch the only way to end the arc is to move the torch away from the weld breaking the arc the same as stick welding, this is not ideal but it's the only way without a remote switch. Once you move the torch away there is no point to reintroducing the shielding gas as it has already oxidized.
Anyone learning to weld this is all good info but it definitely won't hurt to practice on bad fit ups as much as you practice on a perfect fit up . Such as a wide gap tight gap high low or mismatch because you will get some shitty fit up in the real world and you should be able to make xray quality welds either way as that how it really is in the real world and if you say I can't weld that they will replace you with someone who can so practice good and bad fit up cause thats what you are headed for! I also like how he teaches freehand because unless its big bore pipe thats all I do get it done fast
Question: When welding stainless steal to stainless steel... what is actually happening between the metals? Are the metals melting together to create a bond, or is the welding material acting as a "glue" between the two metals?
You guys should give feedback on what you want. That way folks can get better. Point out what you dont like , but point out stuff you do like. Maybe point out why you folks Love Bob so much.
@@blueweld75 I'm sorry. Its nothing against you all. My opinion of Bob is top notch and his teaching skills are second to none. Hes had years to practice both skills. Plus throw in a little slice of his sense of humor and that is a good video.

@Paul Sableski looking forward to your next video, cheers from Orlando, Paul Brown
Paul, great information, never thought of using a clear shield....thanks, Paul in Orlando
yes paul respect you pouring metal a long time i see some undercut on top but 1 pass on top could fix that and you more than handling that thanks
Very Informative, Thanks
Good stuff. Thanks mate. 👍👍
Nice work Paul! Don’t worry the guys will grow to love ya, next thing you know you’ll leave and they’ll be saying where’s Paul lol

That’s because it’s dumb lol. Jk but it is the worst way to weld stainless imo

Just when I thought I knew something about welding he brings up purge.. I guess I need to go back to the fundamentals lol
so on the free hand cap did you do 2 passes on that
thanx for the video =) were you using a lay wire on the root ?
What's with no postflow on the weld????

nice trick with the file
Super 😀

🔥
Way too much torch angle. Most likely cause of the undercut. Interesting, the use of the clear lense for the purge

Bring back Bob.
lots of undercuts...fail
Pretty average welding there, bring back Bob!
