  • Something from the usual. I went and hunted a bunch of local playgrounds and Tot Lots to show you how easy it is to make money metal detecting these areas. I used the Minelab Vanquish, which is a great beginners machine if you're new to the hobby. Its a top machine at coin shooting.

    Very nice Dave. That Vanquish does real well around the equipment for sure. Around here in the tot lots, it's pennies, pull tabs and screw tops ... lol.

      The Vanquish is just a simplified Nox.. Uses the same Multi IQ tech. Its my backup machine and I'm slowly getting the hours up with it just doing local parks.

    Still use my Tesoro Compadre at tot lots and playgrounds.
    I have found no equal around big steel structures. And. Hits small gold.
    But seriously considering a 540 to play with.

    I gave up on snot lots years ago. Even with the odd goldie found the return for time spent was pretty dismal. Plenty of foil, hair clips, pulltabs and the odd toy car but coinage was like rocking horse shit usually. Over the last couple of years the local councils have replaced the woodchips with full rubber mat coverage on a lot of playgrounds so I haven't really been tempted back. I'm about to change detectors so I might stick a small coil on and go for another look but expectations'll be low.

      You know your commenting on a video from over two years ago? I've pretty much given up detecting in Sydney. Most places I used to go to are well hunted out, and why you may find the odd treasures still there, it's become not worth the trip. Seems only busy beaches are still producing.

    How many kms did you do driving between parks?

    • @DirtFishinDave
      @DirtFishinDave  Рік тому +1

      Not far. Two of my fav parks are mins away. And another is only 6 mins away. If you want to find treasure toy have to be prepared to travel. Especially these days, as most of the good spots in the cities are smashed and there isn't much left.

    American's don't have the $1 n $2 coins, they certainly add up, I once found $8 worth of gold coins in an hour, don't sound like much bt it still $8

    When you pay over a thousand dollars for a detector, you're gonna need to find Blackbeard's treasure...Oh yeah, don't forget the hundreds of dollars for all the extra must haves...Pin pointer, scoop,stash bag and parking fees...

    • @DirtFishinDave
      @DirtFishinDave  10 місяців тому +1

      In the years I was detecting I easily found week over $1000 in spendable coins. I used to hit some parks in Sydney that are very popular and where they always have events, and easily go home with over $150 in spendables per hunt. Not so much these days. Cash is being used much less.

      Yep, why aren't detectorists smart like the rest of us who dump all our money into snowmobiles, four wheelers, boats, Disney, 67 Chevies, . . . .? [end snort font]

      I recently got into detecting. I AM using a 1440 Vanquish. I got it for 252 shipped. I also got a 14 dollar pin pointer, a cover included with the metal d, I had a spare set of NASCAR headphones I got for like $5 and I 3D printed a leg stand as well as a pinpoint holder. Oh yeah. I bought an $18 stainless steel frying strainer and attached it to a steel rod for quick digging because the shovels are like 60 USD. So all in I think I AM using under 300, plastic included. Something like 289 in parts and two dollars in plastic.

    At least the council workers only annoy you a bit the one's where I live always want to phone the cops

    • @DirtFishinDave
      @DirtFishinDave  3 роки тому +3

      I don't care if they phone the cops. I've been visited by local cops a few times. What we do isn't illegal, so what can the cops do? They get annoyed at people rining them. wasting their time looking for detectorist when they should fighting crime!

    On the beach right where someone has gone swept with their detector, I will drop an expensive ring I found previously and pretend to find it right where that person swept moments ago and they will hear my detector and il pull up the ring and they be standing there WTF, I've pissssed off some ppl over the years 😂
